Patti didn't really have the flu, she was locked in a dungeon to prevent her from spilling secrets about the 2003 Forester! Perhaps SoA calls this dungeon "the flu".
Omar is not really a hand model, he's a robot clone! The real Omar is starring in the movie "The Mummy Returns" as that handsome bearded dude.
SoA cloned him and brain-washed the Omar you saw to prevent him from revealing secrets about the upcoming models, such as the Forester turbo.
In fact, all SoA employees have driven the Forester turbo, but it is SOOOO fast, they don't remember it! It's true!
As soon as I mention I'm going to Orlando, snow appears in the forecast. Mother Naturs is a friend of Subaru, so I'm sure there is some funny business going on there, to prevent me from enjoying my AWD.
Meanwhile, the "Free Subie for juice" program was well under way, but is so top-secret noone knows what happened to it.
This message will self-destruct in five, four, three, two, ...
You know that you aren't going to Florida, why don't you admit that right after the Forester launch you will go into deep Hibernation, waking up just in time for the Legacy launch. Since '04 looks like it might be a little slow, I have reliable information that you are looking into being deep freezed in a high-tech sleep chamber. (Instructions say "Do not wake until their is a Turbo Forester)
Clarification - The "dungeon" is actually made up of little pebbles (any Dr.'s out here will get it). I have to resist the urge to check out this board when I was in pebble mode as it is quite possible that I would slip with confidential information while under the influence of strong pain killing substances. (Would you believe it if I told you that they asked my husband to lock me out of the computer??). Pebble free - I'm back!
I really want to work on a "tour" thing and maybe some other things for you folks.
FWIW - our new vehicles and plans now have their own special area in a secret location (darn - another secret). No one has access without special key cards. I've yet to meet someone with the code.
Juice's new free vehicle - here's the special clue - Hadji is secretly learning to drive (like the Tunsez the Cat on Saturday Night Live). Hadji will be the replacement and will be given a free car (which Juice can drive) as a spiff for his special abilities!
this mentioned in the last few days, but page 60-65 in the March Automobile has kind of a 'behind the scenes' on driving the Subaru WRC with Mark Lovell. Anyone master the Scandinavian Flick?
there's a new survey on the TOC page, and only three of us have voted, so go over there and do it so Soob feels thy're getting their money's worth, 'kay.
Autoshow in baltimore:
Karl Scheible's ProRally car is there, but not much else. Vibe, Matrix, new Range Rover, M3, and a slammin' one-off of the new Tiburon. Other long-grain examples of tuner cars too, but the Hyundai is the coolest; the others are mostly bling and boom. No Mini, No Focus SVT, No Z8....oh, but the facelifted Aztek is a must!
Serge- great post. As a transplanted NYer, it brought tears to my eyes. Last night I watched a special on TLC (I think.) on the towers. Very interesting. Had a tough time getting to sleep though...
Hi all! I've been on the boards via a laptop using Internet Explorer. The last time I tried to chat from here, I was not able to get in. I got into the chat, but nothing happening (it appeared to be an empty room). I was able to use my home PC to chat a bit, so I know folks were there. I'd like to join you all tonight, the home PC is in for repairs. Any suggestions on something special I should do to try to join you tonight?
got mentioned on one of the threads. Juice maybe? We have family in Fredericksburg, so pass by and have gone shopping there a number of times. I guess I will wave when going down I95 on the next visit!
Some things that come to mind. Since you are using a computer other than your regular one. Two quick thoughts: Maybe simple, but just in case... -Are cookies enabled? -You did log in with your password, right?
Steve - That is exactly what happened. Jim - No cookies and the same password that I use through work. It was set up for me to access Edmunds. The boards are not a problem, just the chat.
I'm going to try tonight. With AOL I never had a problem. Strange. Steve, are you using 7.0? I swear that is what fried my home PC and some friends. Once it was loaded, we died.
Yes, AOL7.0 on the home desktop. A few weeks ago I tried putting 7.0 on my IBM issued Thinkpad, and it corrupted our customized version of Internet Explorer, knocking me off the internet for a week. Had to go to our I.S. folks with my tail between my legs and ask for advice.
Got to go home. It has been way too long a day here.
BTW: Very sorry to hear about the 'stones'. Never experienced it, but know too many people that wanted to die while going thru it. Hope you are feeling better!
Glad your "rolling stones" have gathered their last moss! I've heard it said that the pain is second only to that of childbirth... never had the pleasure myself, but have treated lots of folks who have... That happy juice (IV pain meds) is sure a welcome relief to them!
No clues on the empty room syndrome, but like Pat, depending on the computer I use, I sometimes have to enable HTML.
Apologies for absenting the chat last night - had a better offer...don't take it personally! - dinner with me bride at our favorite italian place & traveling Broadway production of "My Fair Lady"... but I did miss you guys!
A major newspaper is looking to interview folks who learned how to drive stick in their adulthood, and either fell in love or hated it. Also welcome is any input on why people love to drive stick, and any unusual anecdotes about how you learned etc.
Hope to hear from you before Feb 22 via Town Hall/Talk to the Press or at jfallon@edmunds.com with your thoughts and contact information.
Anyone searching for an SVX?? Stopped and looked at it briefly earlier today. Located in LaGrange, NY, a mile or so off of the Taconic at Rt 55 (Mid-Hudson Valley). 1992, Medium Red. Overall decent shape - just some door parking dings. No price listed, couldn't see the odometer, but can post the phone number if anyone is interested.
If they are at some dealers, I was sure that we would here about it from juice or somebody first. BTW he said it reminded him of an el camino. I'm not sure if i need two legacy based vehicles - maybe the next will be a WRX:) Who knows what we will have in 5 yrs. when the first is paid off. steve-v
Thanks for all the kind words about the job thingie... :-) Even though I knew 6 mos in advance, it's still no fun looking for something else.
On a lighter note, I just got back from a 3-day skiing trip in Whistler, B.C. It was great except for getting caught in a 3-hour traffic jam about 5 miles from Whistler. It seems a p/u truck w/bad tires lost control on the snow and slush. A 50 passenger tour bus either collided or veered to miss the out-of-control truck and rolled into a ditch. The road is only two lanes so it was blocked but good. It's funny, I didn't even know it was as slippery on the road as it was until I got out of the car to go "relieve myself" in the snow drifts (I mean it was 3 hours afterall!!). The WRX was great in the snowing conditions, especially w/the snow tires. Had to be careful on the slushy hills not to give it too much gas when releasing the clutch though. When I got to Blackcomb/Whistler I had to go into an empty parking lot and do some soobie donuts :-) (I think it was a stress thing) LOL!
The skiing was a little difficult the first day (Thurs)because of about 13cm of new snow that hadn't been groomed. A couple of runs were like skiing through cement at times. My bindings were set to beginners and I lost my skies more than once. I had them changed to intermediate the next day and all was fine. The rest of the days the runs were great! My skiing has improved two-fold since last year. My pre-conditioning left a lot to be desired though since my muscles ached and burned the first day and a half.
The roads were clear coming back and I made good time (I won't go into details but the radar detector was a good investment, LOL).
As an ending comment, you may be surprised how much "stuff" you can stuff into a WRX wagon. There were 4 grown men, luggage, ski gear, and 3 pairs of skis on the roof rack. I still got just shy of 23mpg on the way back.
Sorry for the long post...kind of rambling...must go take a nap now.
Glad you had a good trip, Stephen, and that downsizing from the Outback to the WRX has worked out well. Well, guess it's downsizing dimensions, upsizing power. A good trade-off.
Glad you enjoyed the trip. I was thinking about you today. I went for a little drive this morning and saw three (count them, 3) silver WRX wagons in less than 30 minutes. Usually, I don't don't see that many in 3 weeks.

I had the phone number on a paper Friday, but I cannot find it as of this morning! If you are interested, I will try and take a drive up there in the next few days to capture it.
You give it the big long link, and it stores the URL on it's servers and gives you a link like http://www.makeashorterlink.com/98y74jnklj4558 or some such thing. Post the link it gives you in your emails, and the problem is solved..."
I never thought of it like that but it makes sense!
Ross: Maybe one of those silver wagons was me? We never went into Vancouver proper but instead skirted around on Hwy 1. We used the Aldergrove border crossing through Lynden BTW of Bellingham. It was a heck of a lot faster (and easier). I saw another silver wagon heading up the Sea-to-Sky Hwy as I was coming back yesterday.
Here's hoping that Whistler gets the OK to host the 2010 Winter Olympics! Yippee!!! :-)
'Fraid not. None of them had skis on top, none had more that 2 people, and they were all in Vancouver and Richmond. It would have been neat to have caught sight of you though. :-)

I wonder if the 22B is still there?

BTW. My wife used to suffer terribly with gallstones so I know the symtoms, she has been fine since having her gallbladder removed.
Sorry she had to have a second operation as some stones escaped before they removed the gallbladder since they got those stones she has been fine.
Cheers Pat.

I've put the word out to the Chat folks and asked that they either pass along any insight to me or post it here.

Saw a beautiful red 1994 SVX in San Diego. 119,000 miles, all looks in good shape, price reduced to $7,400.
Parked alongside the road all weekend, but was gone this morning...
