On a car related theme, when I ordered the CHMSL for the Clubman I also ordered a bottle of Mini branded wheel cleaner(as well as a Mini coffee mug to complement my BMW Motorsport mug at the office).
I tried the wheel cleaner out and I liked it a lot. I tried it on the wheels on the M235i and it did an impressive job. The M Sport brakes generate a lot of dust and the cleaner was very effective. The cleaner is very similar to the SONAX Wheel Cleaner Full Effect; it sprays on as a clear gel and turns a reddish purple color as it works. Not inexpensive but worth it.

If I know the number that they are calling from I put it in my contact list, or I can give them a google voice number which will ring any number that calls.

I have never heard of Google voice before today. Not sure I want to know either. :open_mouth:

The only thing I have heard about MS Teams is that our municipality has been trying to use it for virtual public meetings. It seldom seems to work properly and several had to be abandoned when our genius representatives could not make it work. So in that respect it sounds like a lot of other MS software (I think I'm still suffering from PTSD from trying to use Sharepoint before I retired).

We are using Skype and Zoom; the KY Administrative Office of the Courts are pushing the judges to go with MS Teams. Based on my decades of experience with that bureaucracy it probably does suck hard.

Did you have to go to the dealer and get the car coded to use that?

my company is on teams now. generally works fine, and integrates into all the other MS stuff (our chat is part of teams too). Nice thing, I do all the audio right through the computer. No need for a phone at all. I just have a headset plugged into the jack on the laptop. launch the meeting, and it just connects.

for my cell, it is always on silent, so when it rings, if I don't know the number and am not expecting a call from a strange one, I let it bounce. If it is important, a VM pops up otherwise just gets ignored. I don't want to just arbitrarily block all calls since some I want to get.

my favorite scam is when they spoof a number that is in your address book. I have had calls from places like my doctors office trying to robo sell me a warranty. And the best, was when I called myself at home.

Somebody mentioned cars going a long time...
I saw a Neon today in great shape. Sort of like this.
No bumps. No dents. No smokey exhaust.
Slight rust only on lower right rocker panel--typical for this area for cars driven occasionally where the right side
of road has snow with salt or just salt residue remaining, and that is left to rot the rocker panel without the usual rinse off.

I saw a Tesla, so I kept as far away as I could in case it emmolated itself.

About the vaccine, it doesn't change and mutate like the flu does, and it is a simple matter of injecting dead covid to build the immune system up, to fight it off. I know they are usually famous last words but, not much should actually go wrong.

Getting Covid can be a real issue for some. A surgery scrub tech that I work with (obese and asthmatic) was intubated for 3+ weeks and was lucky to survive. She has a memory deficit and can barely use her left hand.

She was unlucky that she found her husband deceased in their garage (probably heart attack) about two weeks prior to getting Covid.

I had an interesting experience today. I was in the Pacifica van with two other drivers going past a local mall behind a BMW. A police car squeezed into the space between us. I thought “that’s pretty inconsiderate of the cop”.

We came up to a red light and the BMW moves over to the right lane. The cop follows. One of the guys says that he thinks the cop is following the BMW. As he says this two more police cars pull up, one to the right, one to the left of us.

The BMW signals for a left turn which is odd since he’s two lanes over from the turning lane.

Suddenly, the first police car lights up followed by the other two. Within seconds multiple additional units appear out of nowhere for a total of NINE!

Now there are cops flying out everywhere, guns drawn, hiding behind their cars and ours, screaming orders at the BMW. One at a time they remove 4 teenagers from the vehicle and handcuff them within touching distance. Finally they scream orders for someone to come out of the trunk but on inspection only find a set of golf clubs. One of the kids looked to be about 14.

I can’t imagine what would have happened if one of these kids had a gun of his own and started blasting. There were police virtually laying on our hood ready to fire. It was like an episode of ‘Cops’ way too close. I suppose they had to take them down before they turned into the mall parking lot and endangered pedestrians but yikes!

That’s terrible. My mother in law (a NICU nurse) had Covid back in early March. Her cough and shortness of breath lingered until early May. Yesterday my wife, 9 year old daughter, & mother in law went into NYC. They walked a few blocks and she had trouble keeping up. She still has shortness of breath. This is a very scary virus indeed.

my sister just got it and she very rarely left the house (probably got it at her rehab gym). thankfully it was after Thanksgiving since she was the only person we saw. But still got tested, thankfully negative. She did not seem to have a severe case. Just felt like crap for a few days and went to doctor and tested +. O2 levels stayed ok and no cough issues, but almost 2 weeks later was still having up and down days and feeling completely wiped out.

Similar thing happened on the NJTP one afternoon. A bunch of unmarked cops swarmed around a vehicle. Made that car and all the others around it stop. Yanked out someone and moved the car along with all theirs from the travel lanes. I was right behind the car they got the guy out of. Very scary and the whole thing was over in maybe 90 seconds.

That’s what we assumed. None of these kids looked like John Dillinger but who can tell any more? Maybe they car jacked the owner of the golf clubs. We’ve had 126 shootings so far in nearby Albany this year, usually it’s kids acting as enforcers for the gangs.

Well there is "I am Legend" starring Will Smith, "The Omega Man" Starring Charlton Heston and "The Last Man on Earth" starring Vincent Price. In my opinion "The Last Man on Earth" is the better adaptation of the book.

A few days ago I watched one of the later eps of Wheeler Dealers where they did over a 1991 Nissan 300ZX twin turbo that had extensive aftermarket equipment added. The premise was that it all had to go and the car returned to stock condition to register it in California due to emissions testing. It required pulling the engine to get at everything and a huge amount of work. Made me wonder how some of the stuff got installed in the first place. Talking about fart cans... this had duals, each appearing to have pipes about 4" in diameter. They must have removed many thousands of dollars worth of aftermarket stuff.

This episode epitomized the problem with the latest series of the show. While they showed a lot of work being done, lots of other stuff was not shown and just automagically appeared on the end product. Then they wasted way too much time clowning around on the "test drive" segment at the end, which was quite painful to watch. Hopefully with the show returning to production in the UK there will be a lot less of that nonsense.
