    ok I'm looking at a Defender also (78704 - Austin Texas)..what does the ".00122 MF" mean? Sorry for newbie questions!

    I could use some help here trying to understand what a dealer is doing with the lease.
    36/12k
    MSRP / Initial Cap Cost: $79,855
    "Dealer Adds": $395 (probably normal..)
    Lease End Value (58%): $46,315
    Sales tax (6.25%): $5015
    MF: 0.00205

    That feels normal (this is their opening bid)

    Here's where it gets weird for me:
    Adjusted Cap Cost: 86,503 (?)
    Total Add Cap Cost: $1,238 (?)
    Amount Due: $1,388
    Lease Payments: $1,388

    My confusion is how they are handling the tax, and its apparent increase to the total cap cost. Also whatever the heck the "total add cap cost" must be - are they hiking it up over msrp?

    I've tried various values in the LeaseHackr calculator but can't get the numbers to come out.

    I find Texas tax laws weird with leases. they charge 6.25% of total price of car, but then I guess dealer wraps it in to the cap cost?

    MF is the money factor, which is lease speak for interest rate. Lower is better. you can multiply by 2400 to get the APR.

    edit: your rates will be the same as what is posted above. MF: .00122, residual is 56% for 15k miles, 58% for 12k.

    Yes, that's exactly what is happening; leasing in Texas is very expensive. Couple that with normal LR dealer shenanigans and you end up with quotes like yours.

    Yes, that's exactly what is happening; leasing in Texas is very expensive. Couple that with normal LR dealer shenanigans and you end up with quotes like yours.
    It’s simple math so typically if you can’t get the numbers to come out, it’s because they are just making up their math to drive a higher monthly. Just call them out on the math after you agree on the numbers.

    The other easier way to do it is to understand the math and what a good deal is by way of payments and just give them the payments and terms.

    I’ve been told they always dump the first payment month on to profit. So I never pay that first month.

    It looks like the Defender 90s are available in the payment calculator on the Land Rover website. Any chance you have MF and Residual? 2021 Defender 90 X-Dynamic, 10K, 33 and 36 if you have it.
