There was something odd about that. At least based on what the Acura told me when I went to lease they TLX and had the Elantra I wanted to trade in. IIRC it might have been capped at a lower amount? But something made it so that I would get a much lower tax credit offset than if I was buying it. I think less that even applying it to the total payments (I have $400 in my head vs. about $1,200 if I was buying). Of course they could have been wrong, or I just interpreted differently.

We get taxed on depreciation plus non-taxed fees plus interest plus taxable incentives. So if total tax on the lease comes to $1k, then you can benefit up to $1k from a trade, provided it is worth enough. If worth too much, then, yes, you lose out on some vs buying. So if said trade is worth $30k, that is a a hair under $2k potential tax savings, but applying to example above, you realize only $1k of that and throw the rest away.

Shame that overage couldn’t be a CCR.

What does Credence Clearwater Revival have to do with this?

That’s funny that on a $4 million car they bother to tell you that you’ll spend $17,000 more on gas over 5 years.

It was one of the silly split metal rings on the VVT timer thingy. Had to order a whole new one for $80 since they don’t sell the rings separately.

Made it here with no drama. TPMS warning came up after 20 mins but that is nothing new.

Here is a pic of what was the offending part. I’m attempting to point to where those rings are.

Is the ML63 blue? Capri Blue?

Those will be rare sometime, as the mechanical Achilles Heel continues to exist, and fewer owners will be willing/able to repair it.

Those numbers look like real world numbers for some 60s/70s era cars. I'd expect half that for spirited driving in a Veyron.

Yep the federal tax credit due to it being a hybrid is only deductible up to your federal tax burden/ liability.

I could have really used that in 2019, but never found a deal where I could buy a plug-in and immediately resell it for more than the OTD price less tax credit.

Close. The black bar you see peeking out behind the cam adjusters is the cam retainer. The red plate is to align those front oil phasers. Both of those, plus a straight bar that crosses the rear of the cams.

On the Veyron, is the "gas guzzler tax" not a thing anymore, or are they allowed to include it in the base MSRP now instead of a separate line item on the sticker?

I drove the M235i to Nashville for the Ally 400. The weekend jaunt just confirmed what a versatile and entertaining car it is. It’s reasonably quick, handles great, and is still comfortable and economical enough to take on longer trips. So with M2 Comp prices bordering on the ridiculous I’m considering consolidating the fleet- my wonderful bride suggested replacing the TJ and Clubman with a 4xe Rubicon.
    So that’s a thought.

I have to think that Stellantis would prioritize parts for their highest margin vehicles. The Wrangler definitely falls into that category.

Well, I agreed to a build on a 4xe Sahara. I’m trading my daughter’s 2017 Accord. They wanted <1000 miles added to the accord so they would give me a loaner until the Wrangler arrived. Seemed weird but whatever. It was only an hour drive from where I worked today so I headed up.

What a cluster at the dealer. They looked at the accord and agreed to the price. Then I sat for over an hour. He came back with the manager and said that I could keep driving the accord and not worry about any extra miles put on it. I asked that that tidbit be added to the contract and they did and signed it.

Then I notice there are three trades listed and the contract does not specify which one. That got corrected.

Then they run my credit card for $500 deposit on order but the purchase agreement said $0 cash down so I made them change it again.

The sales guy wanted me to not worry any of those things because he assured me that he would do the delivery- so I asked him what would happen if he was hurt in an accident, quit or was fired. Awkward silence then he smiled and fixed everything.

Finally the manager signed it all - and put the year as 2020.

    Seriously

Just be patient. A high percentage of new Wranglers sold end up on the used market in short order. I get the sense that the idea of owning a Wrangler is much more powerful than the reality of living with one for some significant number of people.
