    By that time there was at least three years on that Ford cab, probably closer to four. That's a long time to be a cab.

    @ab348 It is a prosaic prize but aimed accurately at their customers. - This isn't a flashy place and probably has loads of Mums & dads getting supplies etc and then dropping in as customers.

    EDIT - My previous comment isn't right - what I meant was the people going into Nuggets would br probably doing so while passing - it looks off any strip or whatever, more like a neighbourhood street

    That Rambler is being given away by a simple drawing unlike the Casino not far from me which has the prize car elevated and rotating on a pedestal encircled by numerous slot machines with people hoping their machine's spin will stop on the winning combination.

    I think that Rambler is a 65 American

    The 57 Chevrolet Wagon looks like a lower level of trim than say a BelAir - would be it a 210?
    Or is it something different due to being for the Canadian market?

    1965 American is correct. I think the '57 Chevy is indeed a 210 but I am no expert. Impressed that it is still on the road at age 12.

    Wadham Stringer were main agents for British Leyland for a large part of the South East, including a lot of London suburbia - this is one of their showroom sites circa 1975/6 with a few non Leyland trade-ins too

    I recognize the Allegros, and the VW. I see what looks like either a Wolseley 6 or 18/85. The others have me mostly stumped. At first glance the pair of single-headlamp cars on the right edge seemed the same but a closer look makes me less sure. I thought one might be an Austin Maxi but really am unsure.

    @stickguy - yes the car left of the red one is a Dolomite.

    @ab348 - yes the Allegros - the red one is the lowest trim with that grilles probably an 1100 while the mud coloured one is probably a 1300 or an 1100 Deluxe-
    You are also right on the Wolseley - it is a Six but virtually identical to an 18/85 - the way you can tell them apart is the headlights are surrounded with a black space, while the 18/85 has a chrome surround. - My parents both had18/85s at one stage
    You are right to suspect the Maxi - its the red car next to the Dolomite. - and the car to the far right - sort of brown metallic - is a non Leyland trade in - and was sold in US under a different make from us.

    Yes, the Wolseley version was by far the best of the "Landcrab" cars - it was better equipped and like all that range it had more room inside than almost anything else except the Citroen DS

    The Austin and Morris versions were less well appointed but the Wolseley was really plush for its price - and unlike most BL cars it was very sturdy too.

    Strangely when they updated the 1800 range to the Mk 2 Austin and Morris versions got a longer boot while the Wolseley didn't so it was about nine inches shorter.

    That was actually an advantage for us as dad parked behind his work in a little bay that was too short for most cars, and his 18/85 just fitted nicely - suited him perfectly.

    You can see the very limited differences between the 18/85 and the later six here -

    The Griswolds were lucky to get that close to Stonehenge - when I was a kid you could park about 100 yards from the stones but now they've given the place its first overhaul since the late neolithic period and diverted traffic away from most of the site at last.

    Trouble is the site has been the junction of two pre-Roman roads since ancient times and one of them carries much of the holiday traffic from London to Devon & Cornwall
    although it still has a road on one side - the car park is now served from shuttle buses or a long walk.

    They have been planning a tunnel under the site since the fifties but the number of ancient artefacts - the whole site is huge - precludes a lot of digging - not ideal when tunnels go in holes...

    First pic, I see a 105E Anglia peeking out at right. Second pic, the futuristic car makes me think Lamborghini Espada or deTomaso Mangusta, although several supercars of that era had a similar stance. I wonder if they posed it with the older looking cars and 19th century buildings to make it stand out - almost looks photoshopped in there.

    Interesting tech in those cars, too bad the momentum was soon wasted. Some Landcrabs were sold in NA, I don't know about the US, but Canada for sure. I saw one in the wild once, nearly 20 years ago, pic taken with one of the first cameraphones:



    Note the early Spridget next to it. At the time I lived about 15 miles from the Canadian border, so it could have been an expat.

    The Austin 1800 was moderately popular here in the late ‘60s. I remember the mayor of Halifax had one as his personal car back then.

    In the most recent pic, the exotic car first struck me as a Mangusta, but don’t hold me to it. My second thought was a Lamborghini. The black over white car next to it might be a Ford Zephyr.
