Applying for BJs membership, as Costco is now a destination trip from Casa Nuevo del Laurasdada. Unfortunately, unlike Costco, BJs is not Top Tier. So, I shed a tear.

One of my wife's friends bought a new Kia Telluride; the "kids"(her term- not mine) at the dealer weren't a tremendous amount of help- so today I was a Kia Genius, and helped her sort out some of the telematics as well as some other settings. I would never buy a large SUV-not even an XB7-but I will say it's a very nice vehicle, if that's what's you are looking for.

Before today I had never heard the term "wawa". Sounds like some attempt at baby talk. A quick google check finds:

A chain of more than 850 convenience retail stores (over 600 offering gasoline), Wawa stores are located in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Florida, and Washington, D.C.

Seems they're only located in six and a half states, the closest being nearly 2,000 miles away from me.
How can they be located in half a state? You either have a location there or you don't. Is there one location that straddles a state line?

This was on Motor Trend channel but I’ve also seen Mecum auction on one of the NBC sports channels. Now that you mention it, our cable provider doesn’t carry that NBC channel anymore.

    Is this true?

My neighbor has a Lexus and she stopped to get gas at an indie kind of scuzzy station.

The pump was barely pumping because it kept stopping as she filled up.

The pump stopped before she filled it up, so she paid and left.

Her car was hesitating and cutting out.

She went into an Auto Zone store and they gave her something that would absorb water in the tank.

They said that would work since it wasn't a lot of water, just from what is left at the bottom of the stations tanks.

They told her that even at the best stations some water gets into the tanks, it goes to the bottom, and to try and never buy gasoline when the stations tank is near empty.

    Her car works fine.

A major gas station back home had water in the tank. About 20 cars got gas that day and they got half gas - half water.

A womans new Audi A4 stalled out within a few miles....others had similar experiences.

The cost was $4000 to fix it, the oil company said they would cover any bills.

The key takeaway is not stopping at a “scuzzy” gas station. My BMWs and Mini only get Top Tier fuel. My Wrangler gets no worse than Kroger.

I love people with premium vehicles who cheap out in every way possible and then end up with issues. Usually they blame the car.

What is your definition of “scuzzy”? Would that be a station where this guy is in line ahead of you?

    **************************************************************************************

I'd say if you needed gas and you came to this station......you should avoid it!

    It looks like everyone has.

Why would they call that area a hot real estate market if it took 2 days for that house to sell? We had an offer on flip number 3 in less than 2 hours. That offer was not acceptable to us so we turned it down. Eventually we sold the house in 4 hours (that’s what I call a hot market) and we didn’t have a circus in the neighborhood.

When I bought my house, it had nice light colored wood floors in every room other than tiled bathroom and laundry areas. Unfortunately, there was a moisture issue in the house, and they were ruined - either stained or warped. The moisture issue was easy to fix, but I needed to replace the floors. Wood would have been way over my budget, tens of thousands, so I went with LVP, which still wasn't cheap for a whole house replacement, but I had a concession from the seller to help. It looks fine to me.

we put in prefinished real hardwood 11 years ago. held up good. Looks more like real wood (since it is), and if you want to it can be refinished. But engineered these days is really good (though as always you can get good stuff or crap, and prices vary). Engineered should give you more style options.

And as TJC pointed out, engineered might be more durable depending on how it is made. And might be easier to install, especially if you need a floating floor.

if I have to put floors in the next place I would do whichever one was cheaper if I have the option.

Saw that Hummer EV go for $269k yesterday when I was at Mecum. Beautiful rig with large flatscreen that folds out in the rear bed - too expensive and huge.

Sat in front, face to face with the broadcasters, Hoke and Kramer, with a VIP friend of my son’s - croissant sandwiches, cold beer, soft drinks - lots of fun.

I have engineered hardwood in my kitchen. It looked nice when new and it has been there for almost 20 years so I really cannot complain much, but the last while it was starting to show its age. A few months ago a leaky faucet proved to be the kiss of death for it. Now I am trying to find a contractor to do a cosmetic refresh, not just of the floor but also the cabinets and counters. I am leaning towards some sort of vinyl plank for the kitchen this time. Not easy to find someone willing to do the work right now.

Looks great. I did my wife’s car yesterday at the shore. Of course I had no supplies to do so. Ran to Dollar General and grabbed a survival kit to get the job done. Will have to order a full set of supplies. I have a feeling I’ll do the cars more down here than at home since this is where we are every weekend.

You just don’t realize all the things you don’t have until you need them. I had no long extension cord for the vacuum! Have tons of them at home and know I had one at the campground so I either left it there or never brought one back down. I’ll do that at home today. It wasn’t bad so I carefully took the mats out like a taco and shook them.

My daughter briefly entered the new car market. She asked me how to negotiate a car deal. :#

She really likes the new Ford Bronco. Baby Bronco not big enough in cargo area for her 2 dogs. The full sized Bronco priced priced a bit high. Was also considering Hyundai Santa Fe, a few others.

Bill Collins Ford method of buying a Bronco: come in to showroom, pick the photo of the Bronco you want off a photo lineup on the wall, and leave a $500 deposit. Wait till the Bronco arrives in 2 or 3 months. But, they said they are not charging above MSRP. So don't think the "Jipst Method of New Car Buying", would work with the Bronco...or really any new car.

Used cars prices literally almost as much as new. So, she decided to wait till China ships

LOL. Man, that has been a great car (knock wood). 2007 Kia Optima. Paid $6,500 in July, 2012. Routine maintenance. Yes, a bit of a beater now...clear coat flaking off hood, a few dents, headliner drooping a bit, but still runs really well and only has around 145,000 miles. May be able to get $2k-$3k in today's market. Daughter was thinking of giving the car to my brothers girlfriend, who is in need. Not sure if she'd want it... beats walking.

    Don’t give China any ideas.

They might provide a wall of chip photos for the car manufacturers to pick from and also charge a deposit prior to order placement. If the car manufacturers don’t like that they can always get their chips from the same guy they’ve been buying from for the last two years. Isn’t it great to be in the drivers?

Tales from Electric Audiland: One year "minor" service and state inspection for the A7 PHEV today. Decided to cross the bridge and use Audi of Cape Cod in Hyannis. Nice dealership, not much in the way of new cars to be had. Cape is nice, pre-throngs of touristas on the horizon.
Left with a full tank of electrons, travelled just over 29 miles before the dead dino's woke up. I think that's a record, and 20% more than the EPA estimate. I had to work while waiting, but once done I plugged in at their free chargers and walked to Wendy's to dine. Came back to 1/2 full nuke tank; hit the road.
Just up the road, decided to do some shopping at the Mall of Cape Cod, a very nice mall for those into malls. EVGO fast chargers, which ain't cheap afaik. But, a few rows away, Volta free electricity! After dropping a few $ inside, I returned to a fully excited battery. 25+ miles of juice before Dino started barking.
So, there are charging stations to be found, and some still free. Merci, MOCC.
All was well with the A7, washed and vacuumed. But, as a test, I left all the fingerprints on the touchscreen. Epic failure, they were not wiped away. I shall do so with pride. And frustration at the constant cleaning required to keep a clean screen!
