Winter is coming - we had a dusting of snow Wednesday and Friday, flurries on Thursday, lows around 20F the past few days - all melted in a short time of course, but there's a nip in the air - time to get the old car out. Today it ran fine - heater works as well as ever, and the car got some attention. I've been playing with the idle speed to keep the battery charged when I let it warm up, and when I pulled over to take a call, I noticed it I set it too high, so I was going to get out and adjust it. I was not in the absolute best area (although by real world standards, nothing here is really bad), and after I had been parked for a few minutes, a couple maybe 30 something guys came out from a nearby building and ogled the car. It was funny, these guys looked a little rough but were almost in awe of the car - one was amazed by the interior, which surprised me. Old cars can be a funny common denominator. Also had a guy in a Forester pull up beside me at a light in traffic and compliment the car. Hopefully can get a few more drives in before some periods of hibernation:

I was surprised not to see even a bit of snow when watching bits of the Broncos game today. I saw reports that up to a foot of snow was possible. Weather forecasting continues to spiral down it seems.

I don't want to see that. My new foundation was poured Friday, and we might get overnight lows the middle of next week a couple of times below zero. I hope it won't cause any issues since it will still be fully exposed and not completely cured.

That 75’ Impala made me remember why I lost interest in most cars in the mid 70s. That “glasshouse” nonsense was because GM was trying to save a few pennies on crank windows for the rear passengers.

I like that 71’ Ford. I’m drawn to that grill.

The 79’ Mustang has a nice interior, is that original to those cars. We’re they into the 4 cyl. engines by then?

I think you mean below freezing unless you go by Celsius.

Don’t they put something in concrete these days that lets it cure at below freezing temperatures?

Heck of a temperature swing from yesterday. I almost took the convertible back out.

yes, below freezing. and they have additives for cold weather pours, but those cost extra and some builders won't even pay for it when it is cold. considering it was in the 70s last week when they poured I highly doubt they added anything.

it will be almost 5 days, and if it drops below 32 it probably won't be by much or for long, it won't be of any concern. Well, I will worry about it, but I highly doubt the builder will be!

79 Mustang could have a 4, 6 or 8 I'd expect. If it's an 8 already, it could be good for a build as it looks quite clean. Kinda need to mention that in the ad

And in '79 it could either be the 2.8 L V6 or the 200 CID straight six. Either way, slooooow. And swapping in a V8 would require quite a few other upgrades. I'd rather find a nice 5.0 HO GT or LX.

That Supra with auto is pretty pricey for all those miles.

The Supra with a stick is probably 5X the original MSRP.

I guess I’m shocked at how all used prices have exploded.

MSRP was around $16,000 for that Supra.

Farmer, the Supra is not just a used car. It it a collectible now.

I love the red Supra. Wanted one of those bad back then, but right out of college, well out of budget. Though I would have been fine with the 4 cylinder imitation (GT maybe?).

I like the Nova too. I liked that generation body style. What I actually want is a the Pontiac GTO version of the Nova, with a shaker hood, 350 4 speed. those are cool. Nova with the gauges, really needs a better steering wheel though.

I always liked that vintage "GTO". That shaker looks cool
They were slow as heck, but a small block is a small block. Plenty you can do to them now

Agree on the slowness. That straight 6 was like a cement mixer.
There was some small 8 offered, smaller than 5.0, but the 5.0 pops right in. That could be good for a build to have a Fox that's a little different

Yeah, I don't think that Supra was 4 grand in 84. I don't think a Tercel was even 4 grand by then

My stripper Accord Hatchback was $7K MSRP in 1982.

The Supra in 1984 was probably close to $15K

That turbo slant six-would be fun, but think what power you’d have if you put the same $$ into a 340. Engine Masters did a turbo 225, they got it up to about 300 hp before the head gasket blew.

And that odd wheels at least gets the ‘big horns’ prize.

The Town Car looks like too good a deal not to suspect something is up with it.

91 Explorer. I actually kind of like it. Link is working now.

That 84 Conti is decent for the price. Swap out the cam and intake to HO from a Mustang or Mark VII and make some power with it.
