I have not had much luck talking the wife into making a change. Once we recover from the house swap and what we want to do with that, will revisit. Might need to just go ahead and build my garage and hope I have enough money left over to get something to go inside it other than a lawn mower!

    No mortgage should help.

No likely punch here, for the 8th consecutive year (last one was the 2016 Jetta lease).

Unless I get employment that requires me to commute some or all of the time, and the wife wants her Outback back.

we could easily go back to 1 car. Wife might not even notice. Just the rare time we need 2, which is probably just if I need to drop one off for service and get a ride back! so one nice car, and a spare junker, would do just fine.

So we drove a bunch of brand new F-150 hybrids (PowerBoost) downstate today. From what I gather this system used the 3.5L (non turbo?) mated to a hybrid drive although how it works I haven’t a clue.

It drove very quiet, I couldn’t tell the motor was running. Ford has made the cabins very noise isolated. F-150 all ride stiffer than Rams or Chevys so you still felt the bumps. My colleagues thought the ride was comfortable. I got 25mpg. I can see that some people might like them.

To be honest I didn’t even know Ford made a hybrid F-150 since 2021.

Thank you! Interior color was a must have for me, to the point I didn’t really care which exterior color I got. Black works well, but also breaks my rule of “I’ll never get another black vehicle again.” Oh well. At least it is a pearl so more forgiving on scratches and the like. Interior is exclusive to the Longhorn trim, and this one has the “Southfork” package which upgrades the leather, adds some suede trim, and makes everything monotone. The standard Longhorn trim has black on sides of seats plus black steering wheel, carpet, center console and some door trim. I like the monotone look much better.

The plan (at least my plan. It's difficult to get Mrs. venture to make any kind of decision) is to get my wife a 2025 Forester when they arrive; probably in July, maybe August. You can order one now at the dealer with no obligation to take it.

If that happens it will give me two for the year counting the Legacy I just got.

I bought the C43 in December of 2022 and the Wrangler ten months later in October of 2023. I'm going to enjoy being debt free for at least a little while although I am thinking of selling the Speed Triple and buying an adventure bike or a dual sport.

I know I was here in early 2021 posting pics of my slightly used (at the time) Rubicon. It was my graduation gift to myself for getting my daughter out of college and (almost) off the payroll. There were no plans for anything else to add to or replace the fleet. Fast forward to Aug ‘23 and I was unfortunately part of an unexpected mass layoff from my company of over 29 years. So much for loyalty. It took me a few months but I bounced back into a similar role in the same industry with a much more stable company. I was paid 7 months severance, most of which I did not have to use, which quickly turned into an “I need to treat myself to a new truck” situation. So I retired my ‘13 F150 with 99.5K miles in favor of a ‘24 Ram Longhorn. I’ve had my eye on this since the ‘19 redesign and even 5 years later found it appealed to me more than anything else on the market. And with the Hemi going away for 2025 on 1500s I needed to act if I still wanted a V8. The $16,300 discount didn’t hurt either, although I still haven’t been able to bring myself to tell my wife what this thing listed for. For what it’s worth she wasn’t 100% on board with me getting a new truck, or my tactic of calling her from the dealer with deal on table ask if it was ok. But this is what CCBA is all about, right? One thing I had in my favor was my decision to part with my boat after the layoff. It was something I had already been considering since we didn’t use it much. It was a 15 y/o boat I had owned for 14 years, and amazingly I got $24K for it which was $4,500 less than I had paid. And it went to the first person who looked at it, so again I struck while the iron was hot.

Posting a few pics. It’s an amazing truck and likely the closest thing I’ll ever have to a “luxury vehicle.” Hope everyone is doing well and I plan to not become a stranger again.

Love that interior. For comfortable ride you can beat the Ram. Just curious, (since I just bought a 2013F-150) how did you like yours and was there any reason you traded it other than mileage?

No reason whatsoever other than I wanted something more current tech-wise. I loved my F150 and it was an outstanding truck. The only non-regular maintenance items in 11 years were a sunroof track and a failed coolant hose, both of which were common problems. There was also a fuse specific to the fuel pump that went south, but one YouTube video later I fixed that myself for less than $2 bucks. I only bring that one up because the sudden no start issue that popped up would likely have some replacing a costly fuel pump for nothing. My wife happened to be driving it and was stranded that day, but a quick Google search took care of it. I’d have gone for another King Ranch but the discounts couldn’t touch the Ram, plus I liked the Ram better overall.

Did fairly well on resale too. Paid $37,800 3/13 and traded for $16,000 2/24. The days of a sub-$40K high trim truck are definitely over.

I’ll have one. Unless we hit the lottery, thats it for me.

I’m buried in the Wrangler, really like the payment on the Tacoma, & have a kid starting college in the fall so I think it’s a no punch year for me as well.

    Turbocharged Forester I assume?

Probably not. She couldn't care less. She does not have an addiction to speed or acceleration. :(

    I don’t think it’s available with a turbo.

I went back and looked, and you are correct. I didn't bother the first time because she doesn't care. :p
