I leased a 2017 VW Passat R Line in July 2017 for 36/12 at $225 monthly ($0 down) then I swapped that up to a 2019 VW Atlas SE Tech in May 2019 for $451 monthly ($0 down). Then in January 2022, I swapped the Atlas into a 2022 XC90 T6 for $721 monthly ($0 down).
The Passat I think had about $2k in equity but the Atlas had about $8.5k in equity courtesy of pandemic supply chain issues I was told.
The VW deals were really good deals but I fear those pre pandemic deals are harder to come by these days. I think my Volvo deals have been “fair,” and I’m just trying to get to a deal that is reasonable. I do see good incentives sometimes for Volvo, but I don’t get the sense Volvo is giving out absurdly good lease deals. Maybe I’m wrong and just haven’t timed a Volvo lease yet!
We loved the XC90 so much we are trading in my commuter car (2010 Passat w. 69k miles) into a new XC40. These NJ roads are brutal, and my wife wants to be a Volvo family entirely for the safety and quality aspects.
I know I could probably get a decent amount more selling third party if I am patient versus trading in, but I just don’t think I have the time to deal with that (unless you have a recommendation on an easy way!)
