The tomatoes I like, which also come from Canada, are Campari. Which I believe is the type of tomato also distributed by Sunset. There is no Costco near me but Sam’s and Aldi carry the Campari tomatoes. They’re as close to what I remember tomatoes tasting like when I grew up vs. just round red things that you put in salads.

FWIW, Canada seems to produce a lot of blueberries too.

I am continually amazed at what old junk trucks are asking. To me that’s a $2k truck and not a penny more. Even if it made it home you’d have to be looking at major repairs one after the other.

Now that I have a real cell phone I could just by a unit that has the camera attached to the rear license plate, and the picture is sent to a cell phone. But that sounds like more trouble than it is worth. I have learned to live without a BU Camera.
The backup cameras don’t help where I need them most; backing out of a parking spot between two bro dozers or mamouth SUVs that block your view in both directions. You need a periscope to see the cars racing down the aisle or the people walking glued to the phone.

Yesterday as I gingerly backed up a woman almost walked into the side of my car as I was about halfway out and then looked at me like I did something wrong. I miss my old cargo van that had a loud backup beeper.
My GTI would shock you. With the backup camera and rear cross-traffic alert, it's amazingly safe. Also, the VW's camera is covered, until you shift into reverse, so it's always clean.

Just rented a car for eight days with no backup camera, and it was like being back in my old BMW. (the backing up part, anyway)
That's the main reason I rarely back in to or pull through a parking spot.

Neither my Legacy nor the Forester have a covered camera. I wish they did. I clean them off periodically.

I never understood why folks back into a parking spot especially at grocery stores then try to finagle the shopping cart to the back of their car to load the trunk. I make sure not to park next to cars that back into parking spots at grocery and big box stores, and hope that by the time I return to my car, I don’t find that some dope is now backed in next to me.

To me it makes no sense doing that and I don’t want to hear that it’s safer to pull out than back out. With backup cameras today you get a wide angle view that helps a lot, which you don’t get when pulling out, especially when you’re parked next to a couple beasts.

FWIW, the ‘18 Subie is better than my ‘15 Genny by a good bit which is probably due to the Subie being newer. Just a couple years of technology makes for a noticeable improvement.

Or like a 1014 Mercedes C250. I wish I had a backup camera, but I can get by without it. At least BMWs have that passenger side mirror that points downward in reverse so you can see one white line.

We are near Ruskin Florida which was the tomato capital until about 5 years ago. And now the tomato growing areas have either become new house surveys or marijuana farms. So most of the tomatoes near Ruskin come from Campari which has plants in Canada and Mexico. I believe most are grown inside indoor greenhouses these days.

That's what a dealer will give me for a 2014 Merc C250 with 46000 miles on it, that looks and drives like new. I'd rather have the Merc.

I always go in frontwards if we are getting groceries......for easy loading. But, in a busy lot where I am not buying something like groceries I'd rather back in. I can check to see when it is clear and no cars are coming, so backing in is fairly easy. When you back up it is hard to see everything, pedestrians, cars, cars going the wrong way, kids, etc. Since I don't have a backup camera it is a much better view coming out frontwards than backwards.

.............not the only one. Russia and China seem interested in Northern areas that are Canada's but they want to claim them. These days, you should have some kind of defense or at least an alliance with partners....but not freeload by paying only half of what you are expected to pay.
There is some talk about the U.S. wanting to get our gas, oil and water.

I was reading an article today that said Nova Scotia’s three biggest US exports are (1) Michelin tires, (2) blueberries, and (3) lobster. So be prepared to pay more for those.

Up here, provincial liquor boards are banning the sale of bourbon and other US alcohol in response to the US tariffs on Canadian products.

exactly. Don't know what, but he stopped showing up! Very nice to have someone lined up again, especially in case we finally get a heavy snowfall. Though today it just get snowing more (so much for the forecast last night saying it would stop by 2:00 AM!) I think we got about 5-6" total. With more tomorrow night and a Thursday and Saturday. It never ends.

Last time I was in Florida I remember backing into spots was prohibited because Florida didn’t require a front plate and police couldn’t run your car if it was backed in.

Is that still the case?

Not that I know of for public streets or for a grocery store parking lot. . That is a rule in a lot of gated communities or surveys because they might allow parking for so many hours....and they want to drive by to see your license, which is only on the back of the car.
Sometimes there aren't signs, I parked somewhere and there was a limited amount of time for parking, and someone walking by told me to repark my car going in front first...that was a private lot.

Canada tries to hit products of companies in red states that will complain. Last time tariffs were threatened the strawberry farmers in Florida were up in arms. Just my opinion, but I think friendly countries benefit by free trading. But, like I say, as long as I can play tennis and pickleball I don't care what the politicians do.

The answer was interesting:
In total, around 325 Dodge Charger General Lee cars were used during the production of The Dukes of Hazzard. The show ran from 1979 to 1985, and the cars were frequently damaged or destroyed during filming, particularly during the iconic jumps.

As for the jumps, while they were choreographed to look impressive on screen, many of them did indeed end in crashes. The production team often had to repair or replace the cars after stunts, and the cars were designed to withstand some level of impact. However, the reality of the jumps was often more chaotic than it appeared, with many cars suffering significant damage.

If at all possible I park the Club Sport and C43 as far from other vehicles as possible. The Wrangler, not so much.

Neither my Legacy nor the Forester have a covered camera. I wish they did. I clean them off periodically.

I never understood why folks back into a parking spot especially at grocery stores then try to finagle the shopping cart to the back of their car to load the trunk.

I always go in frontwards if we are getting groceries......for easy loading. But, in a busy lot where I am not buying something like groceries I'd rather back in. I can check to see when it is clear and no cars are coming, so backing in is fairly easy. When you back up it is hard to see everything, pedestrians, cars, cars going the wrong way, kids, etc. Since I don't have a backup camera it is a much better view coming out frontwards than backwards.

Last time I was in Florida I remember backing into spots was prohibited because Florida didn’t require a front plate and police couldn’t run your car if it was backed in.

Is that still the case?
Not that I know of for public streets or for a grocery store parking lot. . That is a rule in a lot of gated communities or surveys because they might allow parking for so many hours....and they want to drive by to see your license, which is only on the back of the car.
Sometimes there aren't signs, I parked somewhere and there was a limited amount of time for parking, and someone walking by told me to repark my car going in front first...that was a private lot.

The only places I have seen that prohibited backing into spaces were places where the parking spots were up against something that they wanted to protect from the exhaust. Things like buildings and the like.

They had a legitimate reason, the plates didn't return as registered.

Looks like seven years ago. Her point was that they shouldn't be running plates on random vehicles unless they have another reason to pull them over.

Not having a backup camera takes a lot of adjusting. You have to be far enough away to be able to see the lines in your side mirrors. When you have a backup camera, you take a lot for granted. Now that I have a real cell phone I could just by a unit that has the camera attached to the rear license plate, and the picture is sent to a cell phone. But that sounds like more trouble than it is worth. I have learned to live without a BU Camera.
The backup cameras don’t help where I need them most; backing out of a parking spot between two bro dozers or mamouth SUVs that block your view in both directions. You need a periscope to see the cars racing down the aisle or the people walking glued to the phone.

Yesterday as I gingerly backed up a woman almost walked into the side of my car as I was about halfway out and then looked at me like I did something wrong. I miss my old cargo van that had a loud backup beeper.
My GTI would shock you. With the backup camera and rear cross-traffic alert, it's amazingly safe. Also, the VW's camera is covered, until you shift into reverse, so it's always clean.

Just rented a car for eight days with no backup camera, and it was like being back in my old BMW. (the backing up part, anyway)

A former co-worker of mine had previously been with Husky Oil, a large producer/refiner out in Alberta. He told me that while working there, they had a rule that you had to back into spaces in their parking lots to assist in making a quick escape should things with the operation suddenly go sideways.

In still other news, a report from the dead of winter here on my whole-house ducted heat pump. Over the last month, overnight temps have frequently gone down to the single digits Fahrenheit, like last night when it was 5F. The house has remained quite comfortable and my electric bills have not been outrageous, especially when compared to the cost of furnace oil. It seems like the tech is finally here.

I worked for a (Canadian) chemical co for 11 years. When visiting the NJ plant, we were instructed to back-in park for just that reason. Quicker, organized escape should there be an issue.

Well I learned something today from reading these posts.
If for some reason I am visiting a gas plant or oil refinery place, or anything that could blow up - like a fireworks factory..........always back in.

One building that you could see from the road had slides outside of each window.

Took my wife to looks at some trucks today. We ended up getting a new matress set.

I think the concern was more that they were profiling not just running every plate automatically.

In one nearby area of the metro there were even some private looking vehicles that drove around parking lots and streets with cameras mounted all over the car to read plates--Ohio had required front plates at that time. I suspect they were looking for repo cars and stolen. Their vehicles had NO identification on them. One was a used, older Camry.
