Those iX xDrive50s on Leashackr for $650-ish per month sure look tempting as an Ariya replacement, if they're still available at that price nine months from now.

Got some positive news on the Prelude. The oil that was leaking was coming from the steel transmission cooler lines. The mechanic suggested I buy (4) new rubber hoses and (2) steel tubes. The problem is that the Honda dealer he gets parts from as well as the Advanced Auto Parts he deals with doesn't have any or can't get these. Same thing with the Blower Motor Resistor for the Air Conditioning.

I thought all the plants going in lately were in places like Alabama and SC because they were non union?

Not even sure if they can find enough skilled workers for the relatively few jobs actually in factories now since most work is done by robots.

If the leak is somewhere in the middle of the run, as opposed to the end where the fitting is, the tubing can be cut and spliced in with a new piece of suitable length tubing using 2 compression fittings (1 for each end of the new piece of tubing) that are rated for the correct pressure. Swagelok and Eastman make high quality tube compression fittings that will easily handle the pressure of the system.

As for the resistor, if you know the resistance and wattage, an electrical supplier might have it but it will more than likely have a different mounting configuration.

    Good luck.

I would assume there are Prelude-specific forums online that might be helpful in sourcing parts that a dealer can’t/won’t bother to find? Blower resistors are a pretty common item needing replacement. A quick Google search revealed numerous choices.

I doubt labor would be a concern. Even a skilled worker would need training for the specific modern systems in plants today.

Got this today from the dealer in VA where I bought the MDX. Conquest or loyalty needed. Obviously excludes the usual variable costs but not a bad deal.

It's Virginia so the doc fee is or was in the neighborhood of $800 when I purchased from them and the temp tag was a nominal fee too. The rest were fees from PA. I don't know how this stacks against the brokers on LH but it has to at least be competitive.

Do you have a salvage yard that specializes in Hondas and Acuras? I got a TCS module that was no longer available thru Acura, and a used wheel from a similar yard. They guaranteed the TCS module as well.

If those prices aren’t enough to get you interested in doing your own disc brake work nothing will. I’ve said it at least a dozen times on these forms, changing disc brakes is a pretty simple job compared to the old drum brakes.

Watch a few YouTube videos, then get to work and you’ll save yourself hundreds of dollars less than the indy shop.

An addition. If we were to get rid of anything, it’d be the 14 Odyssey, but the kids are somewhat attached.

Thanks to Trump / Musk, I’m on a hiatus from work and am actually driving again. The RAV4 is really the only good daily driver. Civic is too small and Odyssey is too much. Gee would prefer an EV. Pickings are slim if we eliminate Tesla. ZDX deal is appealing, but scared of the problems being reported on the Ultium group of EVs.

Wow, that sounds high even from the indie garage. July 23, we had the front and rear brake pads and rotors replaced at the Audi dealer. It was less than $2k. I was expecting it to be around $1k. I was told because we had the upgraded 19 inch wheels, different rotors and pads were more expensive. I have an appointment on Monday 3/31 for service. The Q5 has just over 75k and drives great. I wonder what additional services they will say is needed.

Audi has VagCom free app with a PC and a VagCom cable to retract the electronic parking brake. Otherwise was a straight forward rotor and pad job.

You can actually disconnect the connector to the electronic parking brake and connect clips and 12 volt power and retract the rear pistons with no special tools.
