Back from vacation at the OBX. Left at 5am and saw the SpaxeX rocket as it headed up into the atmosphere.
Will post a not great picture of it because by the time we figured out it was something unusual we missed the best photo op.

I decided to clear another piece of my land that had been bugging me (weed trees). only about 80 so I bundled up and got to work, then took another load to the transfer station. My plan to not die is to only do as much at one time that will fit in the bed of my truck with the cover rolled closed. Generally about an hours worth of work gets me there. At this pace, I might have cleared out everything I want done by the time I turn 70.

Good planning, you’ll have your choice of burial plots.😢

@roadburner - that event was on my radar, but I ended up running errands this morning and didn't have time to go before the beer festival. Busy day/night in the city, when I Ubered back from the beer festival, I noticed there were events going on at both the baseball and soccer stadiums.

The event was packed; display spots sold out and some spectators waited an hour or more to get in.

that must be the rubbery kind that encapsulates the rust. Has to be perfectly clean and dry I think before that goes on.

one of the oil based ones (like Fluid film) should not do that.

    Finally…

Looks like a possible flip, BAT might be an appropriate venue. To me, no price means the seller is self-conscious. A car that will survive the apocalypse, and it needs that 4-speed, as even in that form the fintail can walk away from it, and an automatic may be unsafe in some traffic situations. That's the final year for the USDM 240D.

Here's my story about Hulk Hogan. Sorry for it being so long.
Back in the mid 80's Hulk wrestled in Hartford.
I think it was still WWF back then.
Some of my young teen aged brother in laws were really into wrestling and went to the event.
Hulk was losing his match, so one of the BIL's decided to rescue him.
He ran down the aisle and jumped through the ropes.
He says he remembers Hulk looking at him like 'WT? are you doing?'
About the same time his younger brother decided to help out but one of the wrestlers caught him before he go to the ring.
They both got hauled off to jail and put into a group holding cell.
The older one could have signed himself out but the younger one needed a guardian to sign for him, so the older one stayed.
While they were in the cell, some guy said he had a shiv and was 'going to get himself a cop'.
When they got called for their arraignment, the older one told the cops there was a guy out to get them.
So they got together and took care of that guy.
They go in front of the judge, the one brother who stayed in his seat went home and told mom that the other 2 got arrested.
Judge says to her 'You must be Manager Mom'. :)
The capper of the story is the older brother just retired after 20 years as a Judicial Marshall.
He's an alpha guy, so anytime there was potential for trouble in the courtroom, the judges would request his presence.
A coupe of quick stories about his experiences.
One time, a violent criminal was to be transferred to another state, so the transport contractor sent a team to pick him up.
He got unruly, so the contractors prepared to do a cell extraction.
The guy made the mistake of threatening my BIL's family, so he told the contractors to stand down, he would do the extraction by himself.
    'Nobody threatens my family'.
The other is that near the end of his carrier he asked to cuff and walk the 'Fitbit Murderer' out of the courtroom after he was found guilty.

oh, the stress might be messing with her memory. I said it would give us more time to car shop, and she came back with "why do we need a new car, we don't drive much?" I did correctly point out that if we did not waste all week slogging away in front of the computer we would be out and about, and travelling, a lot more!

Might be retiring sooner than expected. Or at least half the family is. We were driving to the store earlier and out of the blue the boss popped out with "why are we working longer if we can afford not to"? Though she did follow up with her usual panic about not having medical insurance but that is really just a $ issue since we can get retiree med if needed. She said we should pull the plug next spring (a year earlier than our theoretical plan to go to spring 2027 and retire straight to medicare.

works for me! Though I did say that if needed she could call it quits and I would work the extra 9 months or so while she relaxed.

assuming she makes it through year end. She really is wearing out and admitted she doesn't think she can do it for another 2 years. Doesn't help that we both work on implementations (health plans) and the busy (very busy) season is at year end around open enrollments.

    wish us luck!

    Good luck!

Similar story here, wife worked a very high-stress job that I don't think she even realized as she had been doing it so long (and was so good at it, well rewarded by her co.). I wanted her retired first, we set a timetable, but her co. had other ideas as she was downsized last year along with 11 others. They severanced her quite well. So, set my date to be just after my 27 year anniversary this year and bonus payout and I went immediately to Medicare. She went from her co. paid insurance through the severance period to COBRA.

I, too, was in a higher stress job the last couple of years, tech-supporting Actuarial group which meant "no days off!" quarter end work for the 4-5 weeks of that period. I missed a lot of family time and, as has oft been said, "I'm too old for this stuff!"

    Retirment has been most excellent.
Hoping for smooth sailing to your dates!

Autoweek now has a review of a Mustang Dark Horse- $81,550. I'd rather have a 2023 Mach 1; it's much more attractive inside and out and it's not appreciably slower.than the Dark Horse. To really put things into perspective, the blue CLE53 I posted above lists for just $3,000 more.

Seems pretty light on the specs for that price. 500 HP compared to over 700 on the ZL1 Camaro for about the same price (when it was offered). I dunno. Seems like too high of a price tag; I'd peg mid-to-upper 50s on it as reasonable.

The Dark Horse is a track oriented model. so more about handling than straight line speed.

My mower is about 10 years old.
Took it in for service 3 years ago and when I got it back it was leaking oil.
Not much at first but a lot more lately.
Looked arund on YT and there is a simple fix by adding a washer to a shaft through the engine.
Put that on. Had to disconnect some linkage and you had to be careful not to push the shaft through engine casing. Overall pretty easy but not a lot of room to work with.
Then I made a hook to fish the fuel fill level piece out of the tank.
Somehow after all these years I ended up pushing into the tank when filling it.
When it fell into the tank it got tangled with the fuel pickup tube but I was able to retrieve it pretty easily with the hook. Good start to the day.

A couple of months ago, got a letter from my homeowner's insurance company that we had been overcharged for multiple years and they were going to issue a refund check.
    It arrived yesterday, $1.13. :|
Overall, I guess that is good news.

    Time to go car shopping!

Emailed the Lucid saleslady, told her that due to travel and unexpected dental work I wouldn't be able to test drive in the near future. Plus was dismayed that lease rates had increased so in July. Maybe she'll send me a t-shirt to entice me to return. That would work, I'm a total sucker for SWAG.
