There might be a few hundred dollars there, but thats all.
On the 06 V8, you might get a couple grand off. Maybe.
The asking price is pretty aggressive.
Seems like a lot of brain damage for such a small gain.
I'd bet if you are more careful how, when and where you drive you can save that $100.
2004 Acura TL non-navi w/ 45k miles. White w/ parchment interior, in Chicago. The front tires were purchased in December, good condition, rear tires are threadbare. Rear and front bumpers have had a bad paintjob from the dealer. Leather on front seats is worn. Owner wants $18,900. There are about 10 months remaining on a 5 year CPO warranty.
The other one is also a 2004 non navi, 72k miles from a dealer. No warranty. Silver. Dealer balks at letting us take it to a mechanic, says his mechanic has looked it over carefully. $15,500 before TTL, which will include IL sales tax (nearly 10% and doc fee of $150).
Seems like most of the post 2004 TLs are trading at a premium around here, prices are high for used models at the dealers. I'd appreciate any advice from the pros.
Considering a brand new TL (3.2L) sells for 28.6K here in southern cal (Carsdirect.com price in zip code 90501)
Base camry LE (V6) is going for 21.7K per cars direct in 90501 zip code...I personally would take a base camry for 21.7 K over a 2004 TL @ 18.9K...my 2 cents
04 w/ 72k, too many miles,no warranty. Pass

looking to sell privately (maybe) or trade in on a Frontier
I could use a truck sometimes and also have a 335i coupe for fun.
I have an 04 Lexus GX470, 54K miles, All options - Mark Levinson audio, navi, third row seat, DVD, tow pkg.
Today, a dealer (not lexus) told me they did not want it, but called wholesalers. They claim the wholesalers stated it is worth $17-20K. The dealer later called me back and offered $21K. Edmunds shows a value of $27K which seems too high, KBB says $24.6K. Most that I see for sale online are listed around $28K.
Is anyone accepting SUV trades these days? I am curious to hear others' experiences.
2008 Saturn Aura XR, 3.6 liter V6, six-speed shiftable automatic, FWD
Average miles (I'm guessing 10-30,000)
Average color/condition
Average options (the only big ones available are leather and a sunroof; not sure of the take rate)
2004-2006 GMC Yukon Denali, 6.0 liter V8, four-speed automatic, AWD
Average miles, color, condition, and options. I don't believe there were many options available on this vehicle, either.
Throw out KBB, they can't change their values fast enough to keep up w/ the free fall these trucks are in.
Truck is worth $20-21,000.

2003 Audi A4 Convertible
3.0 V6
FrontWD Automatic
43K little miles
Medium Blue metallic with gray leather and navy top
Has almost all options.. NO heated seats, NO Nav
Interior good, Exterior excellent..
Tires- Original summer rears (shot), newer all-season fronts (50%)
Assume all maintenance up to date.. has some sort of third party warranty in force until 2011.
Private party has it for sale.. the only negatives (other than buying a used Audi) that I could see were the mis-matched tires (235/45-17, expensive!) and the lack of heated seats.
Thanks!

Thanks for your help Volvo and team -- you are great!
Thanks for the prices. We went to look at the XC90's this past weekend and came within $500 of getting one. They had just gotten in an '05 T6 that was fully loaded, that we got very close to on a price, but I was unsure as the miles were more than we wanted and my wife wanted look at other options.
We then stopped by a Ford dealer to look at a TaurusX & Freestyle they had (our other option, and now the frontrunner). The salesman who met us looked very familiar and turned out to be the man who sold us our last two cars! ( our old dealership closed and he came here). The used cars he had were not equipped the way we sould like and the new TX's they had had too much ( boy this sounds like a Goldilock's story).
Between the Freestyle and the TX, the TX was peppier and the current leader. Since they did not have anything on the lot thta met our needs, our salesman offered to 1. Do a dealer xchange for new one that met our needs, or 2. get a used one from auction based on our specs.
Since there is no 2008 data on used TaurusX's that I can find, can you ehlp me out with what these are doing at auction so we can determine if we go the new or used route ( I'm thinking used because then we avoid some of the depreciation and can get it CPO'd to extend the warranty).
Here's our requirements
<12k miles
AWD
50/50 split 3rd row
Reverse Sensors
Leather Int.
Moonroof
DVD - nice, but we could always add an aftermrkt
Power liftgate - would be nice
Thanks

Afterwards, we sat and talked and while we both liked the Volvo xc90's in general, we could not see paying the same or more for a 3-4 yr old car that we could for a new or 1yo Taurus X. Nothing against Volvo's I currently have an S70 ( 3rd Volvo) and the C70 is a strong contender for its replacement, but in the big picture, 5 years down the road, I think the TX will be the best value for a family car/wagon. Plus, if the kids continue to grow at their current rate, they'll outgrow the XC90's 5'3" 3rd row height limit in no time.

Real money is probably @ $8,000
As for the Taurus X, decent ones are doing @ $18,000 at the auction.
Personally, you couldn't give me a Freestyle or Taurus X(same car really).
The XC90 is a fabulous SUV. If you can find an affordable one, I'd go that route.
And, of course, I'm with vmax (big surprise considering we just bought an XC90). It just feels SO much nicer than other similar vehicles. And, at the auction price he provided of $18k for a Taurus X, I don't see the value there. To recap, we bought an '05 XC90 2.5T with 23k tiny miles for $22k. So you're talking maybe $20-$21k for an '08 Taurus X? Lessay ... 5k miles? I always look at miles rather than years (to an extent), so I see that 18k difference as 1 year of driving. Soooo... for similar money, there's no doubt I'm going with the Volvo for 1 year's less miles.

Thanks for the info and advice. It's been a hard decision to make, but as my wife says, she has to be able to sleep at night, and she's having a hard time justifying the additonal money it would cost us to purchase an XC90. I have my own financing in place, I know what I will be getting for my trade ( thanks again to you) so the only real variable is the cost of the car.
To keep on topic, I'm adding a message in the XC90 forum as to why I should or should not choose that vehicle. Feel free to comment there.

it will never have the cache of a volvo and lacks the higher quality finishes, but it should be less expensive to maintain. you can get a factory warranty online, even if used. a ford dealer will probably give you more for your ford trade.
also, if your kids and/or their friends are going to trash up the interior, do you really want to have them doing that to a volvo?
