I think reality is closer to the $10-11k range esp if you don't have leather.
Obviously, you have taken care of this truck and are proud of the fact. That care and pride doesn't translate at the dealer however. The only place that story works is on a private party sale where you can show potential buyers what you have done. Once that truck hits the used car lot its just another miler and no one would believe what the salesman had to say anyway.
Finally, the Manheim numbers are only available via subscription to dealers. It isn't info that is meant for the public.
no, wait...
Sometimes for oddball cars like that buying from Carmax can be a good deal. I can do the same thing with at my dealership but you need to come in and tell me what you want then I can go find it.
And sometimes Carmax just puts stupid money on a car cause the guy doing the appraisal doesn't know any better. Back a couple of years ago I had a rich kid from Turkey trying to trade in a 335I hard top convertible for a Supercharged Range Rover. We figured his car at XX,XXX, I don't remember the exact number, but carmax was going to offer him 5,000 more then the highest bid we could get. I told him run down there now and get the money before the realize the mistake they made. The whole deal ended up falling apart when his dad wouldn't give him any more money to blow on cars and told him if he didn't reign in his spending he would pull him out of school and make him come home.
And your monthly payments are reduced buy 100 you say,,well you will keep paying them for 5 more yrs on a new Edge whereas the Murano would have already been paid.
I would take a Murano any day over an Edge which has pretty much unknown reliability.
I had a 2000 Nissan sedan --it ran upto 160k miles with no problems..
So, if you know you can get $XXX for your car from CarMax, it gives you a base to work from...

since your murano is up to date on maintenance, you won't need to put any money in it for a while.
you say you will save $100 on your payment(for 10 months?).
did you check if your insurance payment will change?
where i live we pay vehicle property tax, so that could come into play too.
the other thing is the color of the Edge. You like it now, but will you like it in a few years, and down the road will potential buyers?
is the Edge new, or will you be looking at some major maintenance items you would need to take care of before the murano you already have?
Usually, Carmax is at the top of the scale. They normally don't do a lot of recon work and don't have to adhere to manufacturers CPO programs so that allows them to put more $$ in the car.

What kind of numbers are you getting from dealers?
The trouble with that thinking is that you'll have a car payment for the rest of your life.
And are you really going to lease a used car? CPO at least I hope?
I buy and keep. The math always works to my advantage. I paid off an Escort GT in 3 years and kept it for 7. 48 months of $0 per month lets you save up for the next car.
So I was able to pay cash for a Subaru Forester, which lasted me 9 years. That's 108 months with $0 per month in payments! Sock away $400 per month and buy yourself a brand new Porsche, all cash, at the end of it. And that's ignoring the $7000 or so I got in resale.
I was able to save enough to buy a 2nd car. :surprise:
Keep your Murano longer, in the long-term that will drastically reduce your operating costs.
Never mind, keep leasing new cars, the economy needs it.

1. We probably paid a little too much for the '05 Murano. We still owe 13K and we have 23 more payments to make.
2. Previously we were putting 35K miles + on a car every year, so our cars wore out in 4-5 years, which was about how long we were still making car payments. There was nothing left at the end. But we've recently moved, and now we're putting less than 12K a year on our car. My logic leads me to think that NOW if I get a low-mileage car, I will still have something at the end of my car loan.
3. Going thru my credit union, I can get a 20K loan for 36 months paying approx. $100 less per month than what I'm paying now.
All these things considered, I can make 23 more high payments on a high mileage car and end up with a high mileage car, OR I can make 36 lower payments on a low mileage car and end up with a low mileage car.
I may be blonde, but this all adds up for me. Of course the question remains - can I find that low-mileage car I'm seeking, and will it make me as happy as my Mo? I ain't got no crystal ball...

I'd be more anxious to finish off the payments. You'll be free of payments in less than 2 years, and even with the high miles, you have a quality ride that's still fairly new, really.
What would you replace it with, out of curiosity? Probably a smaller/cheaper vehicle, right?
Meh, ignore me, buy what you love. Life's too short for bean counting.
As far as how long a lightly-used Edge will last? How long will any car last? It's a crap shoot. It could last me 6 months past the payoff, or it could be the best, most dependable ride ever. I think just going for what I find pleases me is going to be the best thing. Cause everyone knows - if Mama ain't happy - ain't NOBODY happy - right?
I think if you do it, do it for the extra gadgets. I think you will enjoy those, and that makes it easier to justify the extra payments.
My saying is "Happy wife, happy life". Close to yours.
Best of luck with whatever you decide.
Wife likes the new M3 actually but also is keen on the Hyundai Elantra and I think it'll be a new version for the '11 model year. This generation is somewhat fugly except for the Touring edition. Time will tell.

Looking to unload this, tried to trade it in on an Infiniti and the dealer offered about $10k below KBB and wouldn't budge. Tried private sale through classifieds at below KBB and never got one call. Trying to find real trade-in value as KBB and NADA seem to be inflated.
In good condition with the exception of a ding in the tail light.
KBB gave it around 4k and my dealer offered 2300 as a trade-in, telling me that was the "auction value" they could get.
Is this fair value??

I guess it may be worth a trip to Carmax to see, thanks for your guesstimate, it's probably a couple grand more than what I'd be willing to lose to get out of the lease (I hate this truck )
Q7 has never been a really good seller. That could also affect the wholesale price.
Check w/ Carmax.
Uuummm......maybe spend the $10 for a CarFax report? I'm Not an expert, but 28 records on CarFax for an '06??? Also, have you driven it? I'd want to know all the history on this one.....
I saw 15-16K on KBB...
I saw a similar SRX locally at a dealer offered for $19,900
It had slightly newer tires, but other than that, I'd say it was almost the exact same vehicle.
Now I know for sure, private sale would be my best bet (except for the hassle).
Assuming a buyer would go to a dealer and get them to wiggle 2-3K off that 19.9K...I should be able to sell at about 16-15K and still be better than what a delaer can offer...right?
With such low miles and maint records...I would think most folks would feel pretty safe to buy via private sale.
And if they need to be financed ,then they would rather shop at the dealer instead of a private party even if it is 1k or 1.5k more.
Anything over 10k--outright cash is tough to get on a private sale.
But it`s a low miler, well maintained--so there should be buyers.
Try Carmax first. They give higher values for well maintained low mileage cars.Hope this helps.Good Luck. And do let us know.
