I would say ,probably around 9k maybe 500 more if it did not have dings and scratches.Volvomax will give you the most accurate value.
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
You can't add the factory GPS but you can add the Volvo portable Garmin/Nuvi thing for around 700-800 bucks.

RSE is 1,800 or so depending on the year. I think 2007 is still 1,800.

Realistically probably not much less then 30,000 if you want the car certified and it doesn't have any stories with normal miles for a 2007.

I have a 2007 in stock now with factory RSE and Nav and I have it at 30,000. I wouldn't discount it more then a few hundred bucks unless something drastic changed in the marketplace.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
$9-10,000 depending on how serious the scratch is and how many dings you have.

considering purchase of 2006 M3 convertible
    Bloomington, Indiana (Indianapolis, Indiana)
    SMG
    15k miles
alpine white/ light grey leather/ dark blue softtop
harmon kardon stereo CD (but the motor sounds better), 19 inch wheels, SMG, heated power seats, xenons, (poss. rear parking distance), 3M clear hood/ bumper protection, (no navi), sirius radio add on but has black antenna on top of trunk lid that looks odd on a white car, rollover protection (?standard?), aftermarket window tint

bottom edge of front bumper has curb rash on both sides, rear bumper has 1.5 inch long scratch that is about 1/4 inch wide, most rims have curb rash that's not too bad but one looks refinished rather poorly (waves in paint), rim centercaps faded and need replaced, tires 40-50% tread left

clean carfax - 2 owners - first supposedly a owner of a local bmw store and car sold reportedly as CPO to second owner -but local dealer unsure if CPO is transferrable.

SMG is a little odd to me, not too bad if you remind yourself that it's really a manual- but it goes like stink

Please let me know what you think it is worth with and without CPO

    Poss trade in to follow

    Thanks,
    Mark

Wish I had known about the classifieds, I didn't try AutoTrader but I guess I should have. Carmax offered $33k and today the MB dealer offered $32.4k. Thanks for the tip, I'll keep that in mind next time.

x plan might be $100 under invoice. never $1000

When we had X Plan it was 4% over invoice. The buyer gets whatever rebates and dealer cash they qualify for. The financing incentives are the same as for a retail buyer.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
I would not buy this car without the CPO. If the SMG goes(and they can be problematic) it's really really expensive. Actually, any kind of repair on an M car is.

    I'd figure a retail @ $40,000. wholesale @ $33-34,000
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Not a good car to trade in. the car is too old for the low miles to matter to a dealer.
    Figure $5-7,000 trade in.
    Private party,could see $8-9,000.
  • mjfloyd1mjfloyd1 Member Posts: 3,806
    Volvomax,

Thanks for your replies on both vehicles. The guy that details my cars has repeatedly told me to let him know when I want to sell it. I'm unsure about the M3 SMG. Maybe I should look for a 911 cab 2S that I've really always wanted. What years do you recommend (if you have any insight). I like the 06, 07 but I know nothing about reliability of the new water cooled motors.

    Thanks again,
    Mark

If you don't want the MSG, or SMG, don't get it. Also, all the "curb rash" on those expensive rims & on the bumpers, makes it sound like it was owned by a college kid. Personally, I'd keep the e36 w/25K miles.

If you do buy a newish bmw or porsche, where's the nearest dealer, or good indie service shop? Indy? And of course a newish M3 or porsche will be on a whole 'nother level of maintenence costs from your old bmw.......
  • mjfloyd1mjfloyd1 Member Posts: 3,806
I'm up in the air about the SMG. You see all kinds of reports both good and bad on the internet.
There's a factory trained indie BMW shop in my town and the closest dealer is 45 minutes away on the south side of Indy. Local indie shop handles porsche as well - they have a very good reputation.
Nearest Porsche dealer is north side of Indy - 75 minute drive but I'm unsure about their reputation.

These are prices for CPO, I assume???
They're asking 36,777 as a starting point but they're unsure of the cpo status. I think I remember that with bmw, the cpo follows the vin #. They say that they have the cpo paperwork, but that they don't believe the cpo is transferrable.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 265,456
Once a BMW is CPO, it stays that way... You don't have to do anything to transfer the warranty...

If you are interested in Porsches, I saw an '07 Cayman today at the P-dealer for $41,900....

$36k not a bad price. If BMW is like other brands the CPO stays with th ecar. i'd call a bimmer dealer and ask.
I'm not a big fan of the SMG box, heard too many bad things.

Time for a new kid hauler :)

    Denver
    04 Honda Odyssey
    3.5L 6Cyl Auto
    FWD
    62K miles
    Grey/Grey
Clean interior, few dings on tailgate, minor scratches on front and sides.

    Thanks in advance!!!

I need to show my buddy how to use the internet ;)

He was at a dealer and looking at a 2004 Volvo XC90 T6 (turbo).
    Zip code 15237
    62K Miles
    Tires about 1/2 worn
    Has leather, roof, 3rd row
Paint is in good condition...some minor scratches overall.
Interior is ok to good...he said it looks like it needs a good cleaning.

Dealer said he would sell for $14,500

I read up on these and the T6 has a transmission (GM 4 speed I think) that has been known to fail. He said the Carfax had no recalls or repairs.

I thought it seems like a good deal...but maybe the tranny problems are bigger than I read about?

Anyway...thoughts on the value of this vehicle?
  • icedog97icedog97 Member Posts: 141
Gonna reply to my own post...

Just read the "transmission" thread on the XC90...YIKES!!!

I guess I can see why they would be selling these for around $14,000.

It sounds like it's almost a given that if you have a T6, you are going to need a new transmission.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Wholesale is @ $11-12k. Doesn't sound like the dealer has done any recon.
Should be able to get it for $13-13500
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
    Figure @ $10,000
  • icedog97icedog97 Member Posts: 141
    thanks volvomax...

I guess the question is...would you buy it at this price (13-13.5K), given the known tranny issues with the T6? I am guessing I should not "recommend" it???

It seems like a lot of car for the money...but a risky proposition.

Anybody know where to find units sold/problems reported data? Just curious the percentage of 2004 T6 transmissions that have actually failed...
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
    We have a 2007 Cayman for $33,000... :P

    RE: The M3 SMG

Yes BMW CPOs stay with the car even if it is traded into a dealer. You don't need to do anything special to make it transfer.

All the BMW SMGs I have driven were bad I would stay away from it.

I think all the XC90 T6 Transmissions failed.

Or even a V8 if you can find one cheap enough.
  • tag66tag66 Member Posts: 9
Thanks for the information. Where are located with that vehicle? I am looking for a '07 XC90 with preferrably less than 30k miles. Any combo of RES and GPS would be nice but not mandatory. So realistically, I should look to spend around 30k for the car loaded and about 27k without those 2 options?
  • pollivierepolliviere Member Posts: 5
07 XC90 24 to 27K miles wholesale auction values and retail pricing.

    AWD V8 (w) 27K (R) 30.3K
    AWD V6 24.6K 27.5K
    FWD V6 23.4K 25.3K

Above are real world average numbers that a dealer would work from. GPS systems and the like have little impact on wholesale pricing. Condition and mileage are far more important.
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
Plus the certified cost which like max said is 2,000ish for the average XC90.

Shifting gears so to speak. Looking for 911 C2S (maybe even C4S) Cabriolet
Indianapolis IN but willing to travel to get (or ship)
    6 speed manual
    rwd/ awd if C4S
3-7k miles, up to 20k miles
seeing mostly guards red/ tan or black leather available (prefer white or silver with tan or light grey int)
power seats, heated seats, sport exhaust, +/- navi
    assume clean carfax, no accidents

Seeing several - even ebay. Wondering what these can be realistically had either as used or CPO vehicles.

Thanks in advance for the insight.

    If you have to ask...

    ;)
  • corvettecorvette Member Posts: 11,272
Skip the T6 unless you want to rebuild/replace the transmission as part of your regular maintenance. That engine is at the upper limit of what its transmission can handle, and the way Volvo installed the transmission doesn't provide it with enough cooling.

Hello, My neighbor has a 2008 Corvette convertible, triple black with about 3000 miles, still looks new. She no longer has a use for the car and wants to sell it outright to a dealer. It is fully optioned 3LT, chrome wheels etc and had a sticker price of around 58k when she bought it this May. This is the Indianapolis metro area. What should she expect to get out of the car and would it be worth her while to wait until spring from a financial viewpoint? Thanks for your help.

    Color Black Pearl Slate/Charcoal

Purchased it under the Clunker Deal and I know it's crazy to think about getting rid of it now but I really like the new Taurus. Please slap me back to reality.

I am considering trading in my 2007 Toyota Highlander (in Denver):

    White, 48k miles
Base model V6 AWD - with moonroof as the only option worth mentioning.
It's in good condition - clean interior and exterior, no dings or dents, tires about 50%, all services up to date.

    Looking at a 2008 Mazda CX-9:

    Silver, 33k miles
Sport model AWD - no additional options.
Good condition - a small dent on the window trim and a cigarette burn hole on the rear seat. Based on the Carfax, it's a previous rental car and it would seem the dealership has had it for 2-3 months.

What do you all think on trade for my Toyota, and what would you estimate the dealership has in the Mazda?

    Thanks!

Wholesale for a low mile 06 is gonna be @ $50,000
Figure low to mid $50's private party and probably high $50's for a CPO car.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
    low mileage cars $30-33k
    Milers @ $22-24k
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
YIKES on the miles. Wholesale @ $20,000. Private party maybe $24-25k.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
    Figure $38-40,000.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Not much to go on, figure $18-20,000
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
    Figure $14-15k for the Highlander.

Current wholesale on the Mazda is @ $22,000. Hard to say what the dealer is in the car,esp if they have had it a while. If you can get the car in the mid $20's it would be a good deal.
  • breldbreld Member Posts: 6,918
    Thanks for the quick response.

I imagine if I went the private sale route on the Highlander it'd be $16-$17k?

And is that wholesale estimate for the CX-9 for the sport (base) model? I'm just surprised they're holding that kind of value - seems you can get a new one for $26-$27k.

    Again - thanks a bunch.

Thanks Volvomax. Should the car be worth less next spring?
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Probably. Right now a dealer may not want the car at all since we are moving out of convertible season. Probably get more interest next spring.

    "...Figure $38--40,000..."

Holy Moley! An $18--20K hit in one year? And I thought my car had poor trade-in value. At 3,000 miles it hasn't even been broken in.
