I didn't mind paying cash for the car...but don't steal from me!
Anyway, the car is great.

I'll probably put the W-12 in the garage for now since it has crossed the 1000 miles mark and drive the wife's CLS 55 because she's gone to Amsterdam for 2 MONTHS!!! It's time to party!! And that way my W-12 will be fresh and full of gas when she returns.(lol)
P.S.- You be sure to update us on the facelift procedures.
They knew of the issue, but Audi didn't send out a letter since not everyone experiences the problem. If you're having a problem getting your trunk to close, this could be the cause. My father's hinges were swapped out under warranty.
Thought everyone might like to know...
It actaully looks almost black in daylight, leading to the questions:
"When is Black not Black....."
"...When it's Green"
...Tony - keep us posted on your results....

....ag is silver on the periodic table of elements, so the plate refers to ..
"A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust and a hearty "Hi Yo Silver!" The Lone Ranger. "Hi Yo Silver, away!" With his faithful Indian companion Tonto, the daring and resourceful masked rider of the plains, led the fight for law and order in the early west. Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear. The Lone Ranger rides again!"
On another note, I don't know if you guys are familiar with the new DVD Transporter 2. The guy was driving an A8 and the way the car was being driven in the movie was nothing short of phenomenal. In the first movie, his car of choice was a 740il. Great car. But no Audi.
On another another note, I got a message on the DIC saying the DRL NEEDS ADJUSTING. So to the dealer I go again. This time it was a short visit. The daytime running lights needed to be pivoted downward. This occured due to my "top-flight" speed test of 155 mph. 20 minutes later, I was out the door with a clean car, again. I guess the car thought that the HID daytime running lights were blinding people, and they didn't come back on until they were adjusted.
Tony, keep us posted on what happens tommorrow.
My wife went to Amsterdam for 2 months because she works for DeBeers INTL, the world's most prestiguous precious jewel company. So her business takes her there, most of time at the beginning of the year. Her family's Dutch hertiage is another reason that takes her there because her grandmother still lives tbere, and she's 103 years old!! I'll be going over 1st week of February. She also reports to me that she saw a S 550 in person in Holland, and she was in absolute disgust. This coming from Ms. Mercedes herself
As for the taxes, thank Heavens I made some major purchases this year (112K on a car for one), or else I'd owe the Uncle more than what was owed this year.
I picked up my car last month. Love it, but....
I ordered the following items to be installed by the dealer: XM radio, phone cradle and window tinitng.
When I picked up my car, there was a one-line charge for a molding package for $2089. I was so excited to get the car that I just paid it. A week later I questioned the breakdown of the charge.
More than a week after I asked for the breakdown, I was finally give the following:
XM = $850 including labor
Tint = $699
Cradle = $540 including labor (??)
After long and hard complaints, I was rufunded $400. $110 on the XM and $290 on the cradle.
No tax has thusfar been refunded, and I have called about it already. The check came with no explanaion anywhere on it explaining what it is for.
I called my advocate, and while she was very sympathetic, she said there is probably little she can do about my dealer charging (after adjustments) 15% over his regular retail price for adds to a new car. The fact that I was overcharged by at least $400, and then the attempt to cover that up, was not really addressed.
I feel this dealer is crook and will never trust him again.
Has anyone else had (or is having) a similar eperience?
By the way, the dealer is Biener Audi of Great Neck, NY.

Fascinaing about your wife and her involvement in the gem trade...I know so little about it, therefore I am loath to spend money in that world although at some point I hope to indulge my wife...Sort of stupid buying her a nice car as we know the value is going down, but a nice diamond `as they say forever` As for her report on the S , that is condeming - First hand experience ...Thanks for the report Tony ps `you lucky dog`, and any more details on the diamonds won`t fall on deaf ears.
He took one ride in the W-12, and came away both astonished and confused. Astonished at the power the W-12 put out, and confused because he couldn't believe it's an Audi. He's always ragging on his made-to-order S600 Brauss Edition and saying that it is second to none, yet my S65 blew the doors off of his $200K piece of overpriced MB scrap metal.
So now he's having to stomach all of those bad things that he said about the "lowest premium brand". How can Audi be the lowest premium brand. Because they sell in modest numbers? That's the more reason to by one as it's not the everyday LS 430 or S500. And definetely not techno overloaded like the my 760il was, despite having MMI, which is easier to program and use.
Funny thing is, I used to be one of those guys. Until my daughter got rid of her money-pit SLK and got a S4 Cab last year. Now my sister has S4 Cab too, and she had a SL500. Were still German, but not Munich. Audi produces some of the most reliable, safest, and performance laden cars on the market. Small numbers: I'll take the exclusivity and keep my resale value at the same time.
The traction was instant. No grunting or digging for traction. A month ago, I drove from Oyster Bay to Kennebunkport, Maine in the middle of a snow storm and the Audi was doing better than some 4WD SUV's.

So here's what they offered me. FREE SERVICE FOR AN EXTRA 7 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES!!!! My friends, it doesn't get any better than this. She also repeatedly apologized for any inconveince that my have occured. I told her that I had a blast driving the loaner A4/S4 and that the dealership took extremely good care of my car.
Audi, if you're reading this, you have earned a place in my garage for many years or as long as the BIG GUY upstairs allows.:) Tony P, what's the A8 looking like since the facelift? Emauss, give your new A8 a rest and tell us what's going on.
I notice down here in Miami there are way more luxury European cars than any others , and really alot of Audis..For some reason Lexus is very scarce, where as up in SouthCarolina Lexus rules the roost, and Audi`s are almost non existant....Just guessing that Miami is Spanish , and Charleston is English. Tony ps where are you emass?
...love my car...
Tony - glad your car is back and fine...
.
and 7 years! Wow..

Is this something that relates somehow to Audi's US (or overall NA) sales in units or dollars?
Or is it a suggestion that Audis are "the lowest price" in the class (well, maybe, but I don't think so)?
The new S8 (and S6, too) ought to impress anyone looking in this price class -- it "ought" to garner respect even if the prospective customer spends money elsewhere.
Maybe I should go back, way back, and read several hundred posts to see the origin of said concept.
In the mean time, if you would, if you know or think you know, please share what in the wide wide world of sports would make someone think LPB.
I'll not be looking for a V10 anything (I am pleased with my 3.2 V6 A6) for some time, but were I in the market for a High End Premium Sport Lux car, the new S8 would have to be in the top two choices. And, despite all the bla bla bla about a BMW 7 series, the S8's AWD system makes the 7 seem all the more impractical (anywhere, not just here in SW Ohio.)
Inquiring mind. . . :confuse:
As for the rocking, without the e-brake up, I can move it foward. I thought that was pretty weird seeing how this is an AWD car. But I can also rock my 4WD pick-ups and SUV's also.
No!! Plugs by themselves sometimes leak, and usually sometime down the road when you can least afford the downtime. You need to add a patch on the inside.
BTW, A combo plug/patch is the only approved method by the tire manufacturers.
I have never really rocked my previous cars, so when the tire man pushed on the tire , and the car rocked as it did, it was maybe a lead as to what I think is slack in the drive to differential...In the old days it could be a worn out joint or two....Any additional thoughts?? Tony ps I came back to S. C for a week and the car is down there, so I won`t be able to follow through for a week or so...Hope the tire is holding air..
