Re: Chronic Car Buyers Anonymous
So sorry to hear of Thanksgiving woes. We have had our share of those in the past, including several ER visits. Now we just go out to dinner at a restaurant. It’s especially hard when illness comes at the holidays. I remember that my dad passed two days before Christmas which made it a particularly gloomy holiday.
On a more positive note I cooked Thanksgiving dinner this year and nobody died.

we have hosted Thanksgiving for decades. Our 1 big event. My wife's brother and wife have a huge, fancy house and normally host Christmas and other holidays. but at this point I think it is getting to be too much for them. They used to have more people stay over but cut back on that, and now that we are up local we are doing Christmas eve too.

Sounds good to me. What time should I be there?

I want extra goodies, and something nice, and am willing to spend the money on it. But other things don't matter to me, so I won't spend a ton on something like a home theatre system.
in terms of the keep vs. replace debate, reliability to me is the biggest consideration. If I try to nurse along an older car and it breaks down on my wife, I will get blamed and she won't drive it again. She also doesn't like things that seem "old" (rattles, wear and tear, tech that seems outdated, stuff like that). The BMW we rode in last week was like a spaceship compared to our antique 2020 vintage mobile!

Fin, I’m reminded of you a bit. Daughter just sent this pic of her “window seat” on the flight home to Seattle today, lol.

Just the sound of air suspension conjures up the thought of a problem waiting to happen. What’s wrong with doing it the old fashioned way, like sitting on an inner tube but I guess those things are hard to come by these days. ![]()

Boy, I really struggle with the validity of the content when the main screen has an obvious grammatical error in it.As I'm sure you know some really appreciate your 6-cylinder Outback. Probably your Subaru dealer would give you top dollar for a trade-in. But keeping it a few more years might make sense?
Any chance you have a link?
I’m getting to the same place with the Outback. Almost 11 years old with just shy of 80,000 miles....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=poZilb-cOOY&t=387s
"An"?
I'm not sure what it's worth - probably around $10K, give or take.
