    Yes. I paid $23,825 + $515 + VA tax + processing fee = $25,423.05 "TOTAL CASH DELIVERED PRICE."

Additionally, this was the 4th car (3 new, 1 used) purchased from this dealership in Arlington in 5 years. I use their service department exclusively, as well.

    Hope this helps.

Got one in Pewter/black at Marin Honda, no hassle at all. I offered 23751 and they accepted with no haggle-seems like a fair price especially after the patience they put up with in our decision making: I test drove the CRV months ago, then my wife came in and drove it about a month ago and all the while, the salesman NEVER called to hassle me (at my request-he listened!) and then finally, yesterday, I went down and got it. Good Dealership.

Kichan, can you tell us the name of the dealer? I also live in NY and work in north NJ.

    Thanks.
  • mikevmikev Member Posts: 16
We also just bought a Pewter SE at invoice - with very little negotiation necessary. From the postings on this forum, the dealerships seem comfortable with that price coast-to-coast... IF you know to ask for it. Clearly the hold-back, or some sort of volume discount is making this worth their while.

Now that we have heard that the dreaded engine fire has found its way into the '05 models, heck they might even go lower.

This seems like a great car (if yours doesn't catch fire!) Good luck with your negotiations!

Which dealership did you go to?

Super value in the CR-V line is LX auto. includes abs, all air bags, real time 4wd. Purchased for $19,999 plus $125 for tags and docs. Lots of looking at other local Phila area dealers. Limited supply of LX auto seems a strategy to upgrade to EX. -plenty on hand. Didn't want 6 cd player, alloy wheels(theft issue)or moon roof (leak issue. Anyone have experience with adding window tinting in aftermarket. What about pricing of add'l. valet keys. Having to have all keys on hand to add more keys is inconvenient.

did you purchase at Scott Honda out in W.Chester?

I just purchased an '05 EX automatic for $22083 and that includes the dealer doc fee.
Can someone tell me if that's good?

Looking at buying a 05 CR-V and was quoted the following prices for dealer installed accessories:

    Foglights - $795
    AutoDimming Mirror - $525

For those of you with these options, are these prices consistent with what you paid? Seems high to me, given that the retail price of the fogs is $329 and the mirror is $279 (per Honda's website). Is the installation of the fogs complicated enough to warrant $450 in labor charges (5-6 hours)? Three hours for the mirror install?

    Thanks.

When I purchased my 05 CR-v EX Auto in Dec of 2004, I paid $350 for fog lights installed. When you have been quoted for the fog lights is at least $100 over MSRP. Also, the auto dimming mirror is pretty tough to install judging from the installation manual I read. In any case, I think you need to negotiate the prices for the accessories a a part of the vehicle purchase. Leverage off the $20K plus purchase to negotiate down a much as possible.

I live in Odenton, MD. Who offered this deal?
  • jmcmusicjmcmusic Member Posts: 27
I just negotiated (over the internet) a 2005 CRV EX-Auto in Silver Moss for my Dad. We got Invoice plus that annoying (but apparently non-negotiable in Florida)$499 dealer "prep" fee. I checked multiple dealerships and I guess they are collectively holding firm on this fee. However, It is not too bad considering I'm sure others have paid over invoice for the car. They made about $1200 profit including holdback. So we paid $22083 plus $499 for a total of $22582. not incuding tax etc.. It was a very easy and friendly experience so that is a pretty good deal I think considering it was low stress. This was at Coggin Honda in Fort Pierce, FL. Definately recommend them.

You got the car for invoice so I'd definately say you did good!

Hi in the market for a CR-V, i assume these prices are before taxes? Or are they after taxes? I am getting a quote for $21300 out the door with taxes (7.5% here in Nevada, so $19,906 before taxes). Is that reasonable or too high? Did negotation over email.

I posted last week about this, but all of my posts were deleted...not sure what happened.
I just bought a 2005 CRV EX AWD AUTO in Shreveport, LA at Holmes Honda for $21083 plus $72 doc fee. They also threw in wheel locks, rear cargo mat, and splash guards. This included destination charge. Increadible deal. This is about $1000 below invoice plus they threw in all of those accessories. Also paid $195 for gap insurance...very fair price.
They had some civics and other models priced at or below invoice as well.
Besides the great price the sales people were great. The facility was new and clean. Everyone was excellent. Highly recommend this dealership if you are within 1000 miles of this place. Thanks Holmes Honda for everything.

invoice for the 05 EX AT is 21,400 correct? It is great to negotiate away the destination charge.

Just purchased a CR-V SE (Black) in Los Angeles (Carson Honda) for $23,781 - including the roof-rack and wheel locks, this is total price before tax & government fees.

I had a quote from Long Beach Honda for a few hundred less ($23,441 but no roof rack or wheel locks), and Carson Honda gave me a fair value for my trade, far more than Long Beach Honda offered.

I've been reading the posts from this forum recently to get ready for a 2005 CR-V. However, I've just had the worst sales experience with FIRST TEXAS HONDA in Austin, TX.

My wife and I had gone to this dealer the weekend before to look at the Element and CR-V, but since it was raining hard, the sales lady told us to come back on a weeknight for a test drive. She even suggested Wed or Thu since she would be there will closing at 8pm.

Therefore, my wife and I came back early from work to make it to the dealer at 6.30pm. There was no one there to greet us when we entered. I then walked to the receptionist to ask for the sales lady, but was told she had already left. No problem, I then asked to test drive a CR-V. After 15 minutes, one of the salesmen came over to say that they were short-handed, but would find someone to bring us on the test drive. Cool...

After 20 minutes, the sales manager came out to say he was unable to find someone, and that maybe we should come back earlier next time?!!

Come on, don't tell me an hour and a half before closing wasn't enough for a test drive? And to suggest that a customer conform his schedule to the sales department, even though they were supposed to be open?

I would have been satisfied with them suggesting that we take the CR-V out for a test drive unaccompanied, or that he'd make sure we had a good deal when we came back again. Nothing like that...he even said he "hates turning buyers away". Well, you did bub, and that's the biggest mistake in sales...

Anyone else with such a bad experience? I'm just going to one of the other 2 Honda dealers in town...but I'll never return to FIRST TEXAS HONDA.
  • bshelbshel Member Posts: 232
gok, sorry to hear about your experience. I had some challenges at two of the dealerships I went to - but that was in negotiations. I remember one of the dealers I went to, there were several customers in there that day, and it took a few minutes before someone did greet me. That was a small dealership.

I hope another Honda dealer is much more pleasant to visit.
  • blueboyjocksblueboyjocks Member Posts: 36
That's not a good customer service, I remember somebody in this forum has an unpleasant customer service with classic honda in Roundrock, TX. When I had test drive the RSX, Acura dealer only made a copy of my driver's license, uncompannied for test drive and when I test drive the Scion TC, the salesman just gave me the key and let me had a test drive. I guess different company, has different policy.

  • louiscfilouiscfi Member Posts: 2
invoice for 05 ex at is 21568 + 515 destination charge for a total of 22083. Keep in mind that just a couple of weeks ago honda announced a $200 price increase on 05 CRV's. This means that any crv's delivered to the dealer now will be $200 more. Mine was delivered to the dealer back in Oct 04 so the price was 21083 which is 1000 below invoice. I was just on ebay today and saw they still have many models price at or well below invoice. I highly recommend Holmes Honda.

what dealers don't understand is that it is the brand you want - a Honda. I did a lot of work on the phone and on-line and when I finally had to interact with a 'salesperson' made it clear i'd rather be in a dentist chair than in his dealership. the more things change the more they stay the same. In dealing with people on the sales side of dealerships it is well to keep in mind, ' shower well once you get out of the place' and see if you still have all your fingers and toes and check your wallet.

' shower well once you get out of the place' and see if you still have all your fingers and toes and check your wallet.

That's good advice...unfortunately, I've been sp put off by the Honda dealers around town and also from other people's bad experience that I've decided to go with a Murano SL instead. The saleman let me take the Murano home this weekend for a 3 day test drive, no questions asked, with only a copy of my DL and insurance, and I love the 245 bhp V6..

I guess that's why Nissan is catching up on Honda...
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
..... Nope, no appointment needed at the Gap ...

But the Gap doesn't have $25,000 invested in 1 pair jeans, the Gap doesn't have millions of dollars wrapped up in insurance and liability if that 1 pair of jeans get ripped, torn or stolen and the Gap could care less if they need serviced in 2 months ..... lets compare apples to apples ..

    Well, retail is retail...

Many dealers let potential buyers take a test drive with only a copy of the DL, so there's not excuse to turn buyers away because there's a shortage of sales people to tag along...if they can't trust a potential buyer, get out of the business.

And yes, an appointment was made with the saleslady when we me ton the weekend, it was for Thursday evening...

In any case, the dealership hasn't responded at all to my email complain, so that says alot about how much they care.

Just agreed to buy a CRV EX-Auto in NYC area.
dealer agreed to invoice + destination charge = $22,083.

He then quoted me the following prices for dealer options:
    All season floor mats 199
Cig lighter + ash try 199
    Arm rest/storage 399
    Cargo cover 399
    Protection package
= mud guards, cargo tray, wheel locks 399

What's a fair price to offer for these accessories, either individually or in total?

    Thanks,

Look at the ad on the top of the screen for this discussion... You can buy all of those things on-line..

Take those prices, add shipping, plus maybe 10% for the convenience of having your dealer add them at time of sale... Plus maybe $100 for labor to install them...

Anything more than that, and I would buy online..

Are there any other dealer options, besides those mentioned in post 1505, that anyone would recommend?

I highly recommend the moonroof visor. It is very helpful throughout the year for venting. Less noisy than the tilt position of your moonroof.

.... **if they can't trust a potential buyer, get out of the business** ...

Braves words when it's not your investment, your money, your vehicles or your insurance .... I think things would change a little of if was your lawn mower, your plasma TV, your tools or your golf clubs ...

The point is, that just happens to be the policy of that particular store and you got your feelings hurt .. move on, find another dealer and do your business there - simple ........... :)

I found a dealer in the DC area willing to sell me an LX AWD for $19,280 not including destination, $300 below invoice but they want to tack on a $300 dealer processing fee that they say all of the area dealers are charging. They insist this is not negotiable, but I'm not sure if this is just part of their negotiation. Is this fee normal?

Also does anyone here have the Silver Moss color? I'm wondering how it shows dirt compared to the lighter silver.

    Thanks
  • bshelbshel Member Posts: 232
Rob, I've heard of that dealer processing fee around the DC area - seems like a standard around there. Maybe go further away from city to another dealer?
  • kurtnewkurtnew Member Posts: 8
Congratulations to you! I am in the Seattle area, and for the CRV-SE, I get quotes of around $24,200. Including the Roof racks and wheel locks, it looks like you paid below invoice. Anyone in and around this area getting similar prices? iceback, how did you manage this, any tips?

    Thanks.

I am in Seattle and bought an 05 EX auto for 22685 plus tax and license late last year. At the time, seems that local prices were about $500 over invoice. The local market here is much less price competitive than in CA (meaning that they don't get into price wars in the newspaper ads like they do in CA). You may very well work twice as hard to get a good deal, but not match what is "common" in CA. That said, it seems the local supply of CRVs is plentiful, so you may be able to do better than I did. Maybe "isellhondas" will chime in on current market conditions in Bellevue.

Hi, I just purchased my 05 CRV EX at Holmes Honda in Shreveport. Same price others have posted here from the same dealer $21,083. That price included the custom floor mat set, the protection package (mud guards, cargo tray, wheel locks), plus pin striping. Overall I was pleased with the buying experience and highly recommend this dealership.

Dealer processing fee is a junk fee. I live in the DC area, never paid one, never will.

Scott31, what Honda dealer have you bought at recently that didn't have a dealer processing fee. Please share.

    Rob18,

If you live near DC, try Sport Honda (internet sales dept only). It's in Silverspring MD.First rate in costumer service.

My 2 co-workers got their Pilots $800 under invoice, one got a CRV limited edition for 200 over invoice. However those prices were 2 months ago, but still its worth checking it out.

    Hope this helps,

I am wondering what a fair asking price would be in Minnesota? We haven't decided between the LX and the EX...
  • bob05bob05 Member Posts: 27
Here in Boston the FWD LX is going pretty much for straight invoice...we paid about 19,000 even in December for one.

Others posting here since seem to be suggesting there may be a discount below invoice, so it's worth trying.

Unfortunately, after a small war --including cancellation of the deal at one point-- we surrendered and paid a dealer processing fee on top of that. But I didn't like it one bit.
