Hi 7seatershopper, How did you get your MSRP numbers above? I calculated the MSRPs to be different than what you stated. For your 2008 model, I'm getting a MSRP of $27455 (not $27669). My breakdown using edumunds MSRP pricing is:
@ateixeira > Just a note: do not pay extra for DRLs, it's just a matter of inserted a fuse. Seriously, the mod is well documented on Sienna forums dot org. Dozens of people have added DRLs using the spare fuse, so it doesn't even cost a penny.
---> Not sure how to get one without DRL. The package Toyota builds seems to have AL(16" Alloy)+QF(Pkg2)+RL(DRL+Deicer)+CF (floormats).
@dann80 Aug 29, 2007 (11:54 am) > MSRP of $27455 (not $27669). My breakdown using edumunds MSRP pricing is:
----> You are absolutely right!!! This MSRP was what my agency quoted me. Not sure how they came up with this number -- raises a red flag that needs investigation.
> (I'm not sure why edmunds has a MSRP of $25865 for the 2008 base LE while at toyota.com, the MSRP is $25680.)
----> My base price from toyota.com matches with edmunds. Maybe you are in a different region...?
> For the 2007 model, I'm getting a MSRP of $29160 (not $29374) with a breakdown of: $25680 (base LE) + $2795 (pkg #3) + $685 (destination charge) = $29160
------> Add CF (floor mats also) and you will hit that figure.
7seatershopper, I am in the SF bay area as well, but I don't think extra fees for different regions are incorporated into MSRP pricing. All car sites I have gone to, with the exception of toyota.com, list a MSRP of $25865 for the 2008 base LE. I don't have to enter a zip code at some sites, and I still get a MSRP of $25865. You are saying that you are able to get a MSRP of $25680 at sites other than toyota.com? I wonder what accounts for the $185 difference.
By the way, I am also looking to buy a 2008 Sienna LE in the next few months with a similar configuration as what you're looking at (extra value pkg #2). So I'm interested in what kind of pricing you're seeing.
Actually, I think the MSRP numbers that are on toyota's web site (http://www.toyota.com/sienna/index.html) are incorrect across all trims. They look like the 2007 MSRP prices and don't match with the MSRP numbers listed in their 2008 Sienna brochure and other car sites. I guess Toyota just missed updating the prices on their web site when they switched from marketing the 2007 models to 2008.
It doesn't appear that any website has accurate pricing yet, dealers, manufacturer (Toyota), KBB, Edmunds, Carsdirect, AutoByTel, etc.
They should all have it sorted out soon.
However, it does look like 2008's are better value than 2007 even with the rebates. Many more standard features and less expensive option packs. When pricing comes out close, the 2008 seems preferable because it hasn't depreciated by one year yet! You may not notice this difference until you try to sell, trade in or make an insurance claim on your "new" 2007.
Not really. You do get VSC on models that did not have that before, and Bluetooth (but only if you get the JBL stereo).
However, some models lose more than they gain: DRLs, tow package, fog lights, and the JBL is gone from the XLE models, just as examples.
So in reality they took out more than they added.
I do agree that the value packages are less expensive now, but I'd look closely at those to see if you're getting everything you did on the 2007s. They may have pared some of the minor things out of those packages as well.
My 2007-equivalent would not gain any of the new standard features. I already got VSC, so that was not added. I did not get the JBL sound system, so it would not have Bluetooth, either.
So no gains.
The 2008 would delete the tow prep package (it would now cost me $220 extra). I think I would also lose the DRLs, not a big deal, but still that would cost a couple hundred to add back.
So there was cost-cutting, they just hid it well. The things deleted may not even matter to you.
The XLE lost a biggie - the JBL system is no longer standard. It costs over a grand now, but you do get Bluetooth along with it.
Compare carefully, they did cost-cut a few things out.
Just like for 2007 they deleted HIDs from the Limiteds, in 2006 those were standard on Limited models.

-------> @dann80, what I'm saying is that I'm getting a base MSRP of $25,865 from toyota.com too. I have checked only Edmunds and toyota.com. At Toyota.com, I do "Build a Toyota", give my zip code in southbay, and then choose Sienna and then click on 7-pass LE, and the base MSRP goes to $25,865. I agree with you that base MSRP should be independent of location. The only other thing I can think of is your browser is somehow caching old data since you mentioned that they match with 2007 prices. Remains a mystery.
>>> By the way, I am also looking to buy a 2008 Sienna LE in the next few months with a similar configuration as what you're looking at (extra value pkg #2). So I'm interested in what kind of pricing you're seeing.
------> Cool, maybe we can bargain together. Everyone I have called so far is giving AL+QF+RL+CF at $300 above invoice ($25,321). Not sure how to calculate the OTD price myself to make sure they are not adding any hidden charges between quoted price and paid price. (Taxes are 8.25%, how about licensing , etc.?). I'm also seeing limited availablity - most are coming end of September.
Everyone I have called so far is giving AL+QF+RL+CF at $300 above invoice ($25,321)
How are you getting this number $25,321? I cannot find any invoice pricing on the CF option (the MSRP for the CF option seems to be $214 according to Toyota's eBrochure). The only invoice pricing I can find on the 2008 Sienna is at kbb.com, and they don't list CF as an option at all.
The invoice price I get at kbb.com for 2008 LE base + AL + QF + RL is $24729 (which includes the $685 destination charge). In order for me to get your $300 above invoice price, the CF invoice would have to be $292 ($25321 - $300 - $24729) which doesn't make sense since that's more than MSRP?
I have a 2008 Sienna Limited AWD with package#2 and CF floor mats. The car is in and dealer wants me to pick it up on Sat. The dealer is a no haggle dealership and he wants $40,000. Doesn't seem like a good deal in light of your post. I know it is the start of the model year but....... Where is your dealer located and when can he deliver an 08 Sienna?
Just a note: do not pay extra for DRLs, it's just a matter of inserted a fuse. Seriously, the mod is well documented on Sienna forums dot org. Dozens of people have added DRLs using the spare fuse, so it doesn't even cost a penny.
I could not find siennaforums.org or siennaforum.org ... can you check the right location please?
I haven't contacted any dealers yet as I just recently decided on getting a Sienna instead of an Odyssey. Then I had to decide between the 2007 with rebate and 2008, and it looks like at the LE trim level, the 2008 is definitely a better deal. I'm waiting for more information to be available on the 2008 models (such as reviews and invoice pricing). I'm not in any hurry as I plan to buy in a couple months. So far, it's just been doing research and collecting data.
I used the spreadsheet at http://www.carbuyingtips.com/offer.xls to try to figure out a fair offer price on a 2008 LE with QF, RL, and AL options. Assuming that kbb.com invoice pricing is accurate, I came up with a price of $24884.75 (includes destination charge, but not taxes, doc fee, or registration fees). I assumed a factory holdback of 2% and a dealer profit of 3%. With the 2008 models just coming, perhaps this price is just a bit too optimistic, but my target would be around $25000. I really don't need or want the CF option so I hope the dealerships don't add that in somehow to boost the price.
So the car we've been wanting finally comes in--'08 XLE Lmtd AWD with Package #2 (MSRP $40,590) and we negotiate a price $39,200--with the dealer throwing in all weather mats and the satellite radio. We live in Northern NJ.
Not sure if we are going to lease or finance so I ask them to give me both numbers. Financing is at 7.75%. As for the lease, with $1,000 down (doc fee, 1st month, and motor vehicle registration) the salesman gives me the following $716 per month for a 39 month lease with 12k p/y or $740 per month for a 36 month lease with 12k p/y.
Like a savvy customer, I ask for the money factor (he says .002930 (7%)) and residual values of 50.5% for 36 mos and 48.5% for 39 months.
Needless to say, I was shocked about the low residual values for an '08--he said that the residuals won't go up for several months because the car is new. This makes absolutely no sense to me.
I would appreciate it if the group can weigh in on residuals and money factors they are seeing, as well as any thoughts on the pricing or anything else. THANKS SO MUCH!!!
I think that is a great deal. I am paying $350 under invoice less $2000 rebate for my Sienna XLE FWD Slate Metallic with package # 5 (includes DVD rear entertainment, but does not include navigation. I live in the Columbus, OH area.
My dealer is located south of Boston, MA, but the car is not in yet. I apologize for being cagey, but I'll be happy to post the name of the dealership after I take delivery.
His computer is showing an ETA range of 8/27 to 8/31 so it should be any day now. However, I have gotten three offers from other dealers in the area that were within $1,000 of this quote or less, but ETA's were mid to late September. A lot of dealers did not have pricing until recently so they were basing quotes off of '07 prices. While the base prices for each trim level has remained largely the same from '07 to '08, it has been noted here that the option packages for the '08's, especially the XLE and Limited packages, have dropped drastically in price for 2008 in so much as the new models are pricing about the same as the 2007's when comparing them with options packages even when you factor in the current incentives.
My bottom line advice is to be just as ruthless as the car dealers are. I figured out in advance what I wanted to buy by going to the most convenient dealers to me and taking test drives in what I was interested in (Sedona, Odyssey, and Sienna). When I settled on the Sienna, I listed out exactly what I wanted in a template email. Then I went to Toyota.com, searched for every dealer within 50 miles and emailed all of them with what I wanted. There was a day or two where my Inbox and cellphone were going nuts, but when the dust settled, I had several offers that were way below MSRP. I went with the lowest offer because it was the lowest (duh!) and the sales manager I dealt with was very upfront and discussed how he was backing out the dealer holdback and the financial reserve price out of the offer to make the sale and he mentioned these terms before I did! In doing so he very subtly complimented me by assuming I knew what they were (which I did) and he gained my trust by being completely up front during the initial dealings.
Personally, I think I'm getting a deal because this dealership is in a not so affluent part of the state so they don't get a lot of interest in $40,000 minivans. So rather then have to swap it out with another dealer, they chose to make a low profit sale instead.
I don't feel bad using the local dealership for a test drive because 1) I gave them the right of last refusal on my offer (they refused) and 2) they are going to get my service business anyway which is way more profitable.
Lastly, two different sales managers I talked to mentioned that there may be an incentive on the '08 minivan once the current '07 rebate expires on 9/4. I am sort of purposely delaying delivery to see if there is merit to this. Has anyone heard of a new model launching with a rebate before. Seems odd to me, but since it is a difference of a few days, I was going to wait and see anyway.
August 30th 2007 I have a price quote for 2007 Sienna LE 8 seater,Option# 2 with dealer installed DVD,NAVIGATION, and Leather seats for $27,981.+tax, title and License Is this a good price?. We are looking to buy in 3 days. I have a quote for Honda EX-L with all the above mentioned goodies for $30,800. We don't care either way, just need a good deal. what do you guys think ?
I will be taking delivery this weekend on a 2008 Sienna LTD AWD with CF, QL (Pkg #2), HZ, RM, and Rear Spoiler for $38,588. That is invoice + $400 from the dealer's Internet Sales office. No haggle. Seattle Area. So I think you can do much better than $40,000.
Can anyone tell me a fair price for this vehicle? Any dealrer recommendations? I am in Arkansas and I don't mind traveling a bit to get a good deal! Thanks!
Nope, DVD and NAV is not from TOYOTA. NAV is ECLIPSE they inform me. Both covered under warranty for 3 years. Does it matter that the dealer is installing it ? I never even considered the aftermarket leather blocking side airbags. Tell me more. Is Odyssey EX-L with factory installed everything better for $30400
Heres my buying experiance of 07 LE AWD with option 2, installed package includes carpet mats, door sill protector and rear spoiler. Negotiated the price over on the net with few dealers in OH, KY, MI area since they have the highest rebate being offered 2K.
MSRP 31829 Inv 29058
Sale price 26400 (with 2K rebate) Document and Title 275 = 26675
Eclipse makes good stuff, you can check out the specs at Crutchfield.com if you want. They make a full range of double-DIN in-dash GPS systems, from cheap to very fancy.
The Toyota dealer can get the surround from the 04-05 models so it will be a factory fit.
Let me find a pic, here's one:
My only concern? The steering wheel audio controls. Make sure they still work.
I'm big on the aftermarket. I have a Jenson 12.1" DVD player from Circuit City. It cost me $900 installed. It is AWESOME. Size does matter, believe me. The 8" factory units seem too small to me now.
Pic of what I got:
Any catch? Yes, it blocks the upper half of the rear view mirror. That's OK, I can see if I look back, plus it's usually deployed when we're on highway trips, and I rarely even have to back up.
when the airbag deploys, it needs to break through the cloth or leather cover of the seat. therefore, the factory seats take it into consideration during design, but not the aftermarket ones. just think how bad it would be if the airbag does not deploy when you need it... i for one won't take the risk for it. that is why i was in the market for LE but now have to move up to XLE.
Hi carandvan , could you please let me know the dealer where you got the quote for LE 8 psgr pkg#1. I'm looking for that type of car. please email me sabbirah @ hotmail.com
Just to update everyone: The dealer w/ the rear spoiler did not want to go any lower, whereas the other one went down another $200. So we purchased the Sienna XLE FWD w/package 4 (FE, FC, CF, and nothing else) today for $28,795 + ttl or $31,651.63 OTD (incl. 8.25% sales tax on the pre-rebate price - ouch!, $55 doc fee, $261 license fee, $36.75 misc DMV fees). There was a trade-in involved. However, the purchase price for the Sienna was agreed on long before the word trade-in was even mentioned. This was the only dealer that offered a decent (though not great) amount for the trade-in (the other Toyota and Honda dealers we contacted didn't even come close to that amount). I guess he really wanted to sell the Sienna. The van itself was built in July 07 and had 4 miles on the odometer before my test drive (which doubled the mileage ;-) ). Overall, it was a great purchasing experience. The usual extras (extended maintenance, paint sealant, upgraded security, etc.) were offered but not pushed.
We just got quoted 25,900 for an XLE pkg #2, with OTD being 27,993 (including tax tags and title). From what I've seen, this looks like a really good price, but we hardly even had to negotiate for it. Any reason why we would be getting such a good deal? Is this really a good deal? We are going to pick it up tomorrow...and will finish the paperwork then, so I'm fully expecting them to throw a bunch of other fees in there...but if they don't...why would they give us such a good deal?
The tax in my state is approx. $1480. If I add this to the 24,795 dealer invoice. It coomes to $26,275. The difference covers title, licensing and dealer profit.
Does this sound like a fair deal? I haven't signed anything yet. I was planning on a 2007 but I could not find what I wanted. My husband told me to get what I wanted and not to worry if it was a little more. I just do not want a fair deal.
I think you mean that you just want a fair deal? In any case, I don't see how you're getting an invoice price of $24,795. I'm assuming you're getting the LE 7 passenger FWD and that the invoice price includes the $685 destination charge.
When I use kbb.com to come up with an invoice price that includes the QE and RL options, I get an invoice price of $24,203 (which includes the destination charge).
Looks like what that dealer told you is right. The new rebate is $2000 in my area (San Jose, CA) and is good until 10/2. It used to be $1500.
Have there ever been such large rebates on Siennas before? $2000 seems to be a rather large rebate on a Sienna, but I guess they're really anxious to clear out the 2007 models.
I could only find the 2007 LE with pkg# 2 which does not have the vehicle stability and traction systems. These were included on the pkg#3. Yes, the 2008 does have this standard however there is no rebate. The 2007 have a rebate $2,000 I think in most of the country. So, I am paying $1,600 more for a 2008 with this stuff. I was told from a few dealer I could have the 2007 LE with pkg#2 otd for $25,000
I'm not sure how you arrive at "So, I am paying $1,600 more for a 2008 with this stuff."
If my math is correct... you're better off with 2008 even with $2000 rebate for 2007, in my opinion. I'm not sure what's going on with 2008 prices. Toyota increased base price a little bit but made VSC standard for which people were paying close to $3K more.
I would also go with EVP #2, for couple of hundred more, you get both power doors.

How did you get your MSRP numbers above? I calculated the MSRPs to be different than what you stated. For your 2008 model, I'm getting a MSRP of $27455 (not $27669). My breakdown using edumunds MSRP pricing is:
$25865 (base LE) + $425 (pkg #2) + $410 (alloy wheels) + 70 (DRL + windshield deicer) + $685 (destination charge) = $27455
(I'm not sure why edmunds has a MSRP of $25865 for the 2008 base LE while at toyota.com, the MSRP is $25680.)
For the 2007 model, I'm getting a MSRP of $29160 (not $29374) with a breakdown of:
$25680 (base LE) + $2795 (pkg #3) + $685 (destination charge) = $29160
> Just a note: do not pay extra for DRLs, it's just a matter of inserted a fuse. Seriously, the mod is well documented on Sienna forums dot org. Dozens of people have added DRLs using the spare fuse, so it doesn't even cost a penny.

I have a price quote for 2007 Sienna LE 8 seater,Option# 2
with dealer installed DVD,NAVIGATION, and Leather seats for $27,981.+tax, title and License
Is this a good price?. We are looking to buy in 3 days.
I have a quote for Honda EX-L with all the above mentioned goodies for $30,800.
We don't care either way, just need a good deal.
what do you guys think ?
What NAV system? Is it Toyota's?
Price sounds good if it is.
Does the aftermarket leather block the side air bag?
Just kidding!
MSRP 31829
Inv 29058
Sale price 26400 (with 2K rebate)
Document and Title 275 = 26675
Plus Tax and registration.
It has all the same options as the 08.
That's OK, I can see if I look back, plus it's usually deployed when we're on highway trips, and I rarely even have to back up.
thanks.
The dealer w/ the rear spoiler did not want to go any lower, whereas the other one went down another $200.
I am in the Bay Area too. Can you tell me which dealer and sales? thanks.
thanks
Purchased in San Francisco Bay Area
Dealer Price: 25800 (quoted on phone) + TTL - 1500 Rebate = 26730 OTD.
Was unwilling to match another qote of 25620 for a different color at another dealership.
Hope that helps other buyers. Let me know if this was a fair price.
1. Can I back out of this plan at this point, now that I have already bought it?
2. Can I purchase the same plan from some other dealership in the next few weeks/months?
3. From previous owners' experience, how much do the 15K, 30K and 45K servicing cost? Essentially, is it worthwhile going for this plan?
The sales guy told me that it had to be purchased along with the car or never.
I tried searching the forums for more info, but did not find much.
Appreciate any responses on this greatly.
:shades:
factory installed accessories: FE, QE, RL
My out the door price is 26,900.
Thanks.
2008 LE EVP #2 MSRP: $27K
2007 LE package 3, MSRP 29K
Only difference is alloy wheel and tow package... you can add another $500.... and 2008 is still cheaper by $1,500....
Does this make sense... or am I missing something...
When I use kbb.com to come up with an invoice price that includes the QE and RL options, I get an invoice price of $24,203 (which includes the destination charge).
Have there ever been such large rebates on Siennas before? $2000 seems to be a rather large rebate on a Sienna, but I guess they're really anxious to clear out the 2007 models.
