Ken Garff Honda of Ogden... actually all of the Ken Garffs (Downtown and Orem) were fairly close in price. But, I would suggest Ogden. They treated me great and would recommend them. Just be sure to go through their internet sales manager (don't think I can say names on here...). He's a good, honest guy. I dealt with about 9 different salesman from Logan to St. George in a 7 day period and he deserves more business just for being so up front about the price (Out The Door Price).

    Good luck...

    hi,

I got a quote for 35,950 for a Touring with Nav and RES in Long Island. Thats just the price.. nothing else is included. Is that a good price or can i do better? Whats the price everyone else is getting for a Top of the line Touring Version with DVD and RES.. thanks
  • tarheel4tarheel4 Member Posts: 5
Just to follow up the question about NC dealers...I got the same price at Crown in Charlotte, Metro Honda in Indian Trail, Honda of Lake Norman in Huntersville and Hendrick in Charlotte (but only after a lot of haggling with Hendrick). I went with Lake Norman because the contact was so pleasant and up-front. I was inclined to go with Hendrick due to proximity, but in the end I decided to give the business to the straightforward dealer.

Did you trade in a car? I'm shopping for the same car would like to get the whole picture before asking for the same deal. thanks.
  • jrlucasjrlucas Member Posts: 7
I had no trade-in and am paying cash. I pick up my van today.

Out the door should be about 32k. Some include extras that others do not include, so do not go only by the price.

I had a slew of accessories added to mine, and the out-the-door was 35k even. I could have saved another $300 to $500 if I wanted to haggle a bit longer, but I wanted a quick turnaround with the installed accessories.

Plus, it was worth paying a little extra to go to the closest dealer that spent the time for the test drive.

I think the dealer that does the test drive deserves a little more. They deserve the last shot, at the very least.

Just put a deposit yesterday on the EXL with NAV and RES. They quoted me 30,117 and said they had silver. When I showed up though it had sold the evening before....so they tried to offer another color. I insisted that silver was what I came for. They said that there was one being made at the factory and would be delivered in the next week or so but I would have to renegotiate basically as it was not inventory on the lot...I insisted that the price I would pay was not more than the above quote for inventory on lot. I agreed to pay the transport fee of 599 and the dealer fees of 399 plus 28 for tag and 3 for GA lemon law and of course taxes. I had a trade in as well that Edmonds listed as worth between 11700 and 12500. They came back with an offer of 11,200 on the trade and wanted to add in 900 for paint protection, fabric, wheel guards moon roof etc. I told them we did not have a lot of time and wrote down my offer it was for 30,117 plus fees no add on fees of the 900 accessories and 13000 for my trade. They came back again wanting to come up only 11,700 on trade and insisting that the factory charges them at least 500 for paint protection and they could not remove it since it involved the painting process but would give it to me for 300 on the paint protection.. I told them I could not physically remove the paint protection either but since they had already placed it, it would have to stay and they would have to remove the price and stick with original amount. I told them 12,500 and no less on trade (which gave me 1500 over what I owed plus tax advantage for trade of 400 )and all previous offer stands. They accepted and paid deposit. Final price to me on van with all fees, taxes, and add ons..31,000.00. Van should arrive next week.

Thats Terrific, I am glad I could help. I live out in Cooper City so it was not around the corner either for me to buy there but it was worth it. Pompano Honda was great.

Rick Case Honda is close by but they can't compete on price (theres was at least $1-2k higher) -- I think they have too much overhead on that mega dealership to pay and they have to cover their heavy & high advertising costs. I guess there are also enough affluent people over near that dealership that don't negotiate much and just pay their prices. I bought my last Honda at Rick Case and did not have a great experience so this time around I kept hearing Pompano Honda from several friends and acquaintances and it turned out they were right....Pompano had the lowest no haggle price! I can't stop recommending them!

I emailed several dealers in Austin, San Antonio, Dallas and Houston to ask for a quote for a new '07 EXL w/ Nav and RES. The best quote I got was $34060 out-the-door. Vehicle sale tax in TX is 6.25%. I'm not sure about doc fee but I'm guessing $200-$300 max. T&L shouldn't be more than $200-$300. I'm planning on stopping by the dealer and buy it in the next couple days. I could have bought it yesterday if my whole family wasn't sick.

After reading all these good prices, I'm feeling I'm getting ripped off. Are these prices real? I understand that at $34060, it's already a few hundred below invoice. Or the trade-ins complicate the numbers?

Anyone knows any dealers that can beat $34060 out-the-door in TX? Thanks in advance.

I got a quote for 34,900 plus tax and tags on odyssey touring with nav and RES. Is that a good price for NY Long Island area? can anyone suggest? thanks..
  • goingon3goingon3 Member Posts: 10
    Hey Tarheel4,

What happened with Charlotte? He gave me the same quote. Was it a scam?

I'm getting $33,000 out the door (all fees included) no extras. As best price. I found one place in Fayetteville area who said he'd do $32,700 ish, but he'd have to locate the color I want.

Let me...last thing I want to do is drive 2 hours to get ripped off!

    Appreciate it...go heels!
  • goingon3goingon3 Member Posts: 10
so out the door w/out the extras was $32 inlcuding all fees taxes? Where do you live?

I'm coming up against $33,000 out the door no extras in NC
  • htthtt Member Posts: 75
    goingon3,

What is tax rate in NC? And how much you pay for doc fee, license and title fees? Thanks.
  • vickshondavickshonda Member Posts: 1
mbuck, can you please let me know the dealership where you bought? I am in the ATL area and looking to buy the same van this weekend. I understand you paid 30,117 + 599 + 399 +28 +3 + Tax, right?

    Thanks!
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
You had a deal on which the dealer reneged and then renegotiated?

The factory does not apply any "paint protection" nor does Honda charge for same.

This sounds like a store to stay away from.
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Less than 35K for a Touring R&N is a good price anywhere.
  • goingon3goingon3 Member Posts: 10
Tax is 3% I believe. Doc fees are $399. And $75 for tags.
  • geoffsh1geoffsh1 Member Posts: 3
I just bought mine yesterday (Touring w/NAV/RES) in Arizona, and paid $38.8K OUT THE DOOR. Assuming $35,950 is before the typical adds (taxes, license, and any junk fees), then it is probably about $1600.00 more than what they will let it go for. ALWAYS DO SOME HOMEWORK REGARDING WHAT YOUR SALES TAX AND LICENSING FEES WILL BE, AND MAKE AN "OUT THE DOOR PRICE" OFFER. THIS WAY, THEY DON'T STICK YOU WITH JUNK FEES, AND CANNOT MARK-UP LICENSING FEES, WHICH THEY WILL DO, AND SOMETIMES BY QUITE A LOT (WHICH THEY ARE ALLOWED TO DO IN MOST STATES).

Here is how I did it:

    1. The total invoice before any dealer options like mud flaps is $35,787 according to every site out there (this includes a $595 dest charge). There is a ~$1500.00 hold-back according to consumer reports on this van, so the true dealer cost is about $34.3.

    2. I found one that had mud flaps, window tinting, and door edge guards, which I valued at a total of $300.00 (what can you do?).

    2. I then decided that I would NOT pay any dealer more than $35,400 + some *reasonable* price for stuff they have added to it, like the mud flaps and the tinting.

    3. I called my DMV and asked them what the tax and licensing fees would be on the vehicle, and added that to what I would offer OUT THE door, which brought me to $38.7.

    4. I called the "Internet / Fleet" sales department of the dealer and offered $38.7K cash, out the door, no trade. He called me back and said he would do it for $38.8, out the door ($100.00 MORE THAN I OFFERRED). I accepted.

I went through three other dealers before I took this approach. On the first, the dealer told me he would sell it to me for his invoice, but told me his invoice was about $1100.00 higher than it actually is, and he also wanted $1400.00 for window tinting. I said no thanks. This was a traditional "walk into the dealership and haggle" salesman.

A 2nd dealer (Internet/Fleet salesman) was willing to sell me the van for what I was offerring, but also had previously promised a particular amount on a trade-in, and then went back on his word, so I walked from that deal.

A 3rd dealer was willing to sell me the van for what I was offerring, but then added $400.00 in "documentary and administrative fees," and also tried to mark-up licesning and titling fees by an extra $125. I strongly considered it, but then I walked away because he did not have the van.

Dealer #3 gave me the idea of stricly offerring an "out the door price," which prevented the possibility of the dealer adding extra cost in the form of junk fees AFTER accepting my offer, so I saved another $500.00 by determining for myself and factoring into my offer the state licensing and tax fees.

I hope this helps. I am willing to bet that if I had continued shopping, I could have found a dealer who would have accepted an even $35K + taxes and tags because they would still make about $700.00 in profit. The problem is that the Touring w/Nav and RES is somewhat scarce right now, at least down here in Arizona. I heard that they will be more plentiful after mid Feb.
  • geoffsh1geoffsh1 Member Posts: 3
Thats a great price. I just paid $38.8 out the door in AZ, but did not get the hood ref or moonroof ref. They really are very, very hard to find here as most dealers here have no Tourings with NAV.

I think you did great. I went through 4 dealers, down here to find one.
  • geoffsh1geoffsh1 Member Posts: 3
Just paid $38.8 in AZ "out the door," which included mud flaps, window tinting, and door edge guards. Probably paid about $400.00 too much, but they are very hard to find here right now.

    I hope this helps someone.

Go to Cary, NC at Auto Park. 32.7k out the door.

They were the number one quote for me, $2.4k lower than Lake Norman Honda. Out of 15 dealers, Lake Norman was the highest at 35.1k.

Greensboro will match and throw in extras that should get the price to 32.7k but with several hundred dollars of extras. They will throw in the environmental protection package and other freebies.

If you have a local dealer with an offer of 33k, though, that is certainly not a bad deal.

Lake Norman wanted 38.8k for what I just paid 35k for.

I picked up my van today and am loving it!

Today I picked up the 07 EX-L w/ R+N with a slew of accessories for 35k out-the-door at Flow Honda, Winston-Salem, NC. (My local dealer)

Here is how I got their orignal internet quote down $1700.

    * I obtained an internet quote from Flow for the 2007 Honda Odyssey EL-L R+N

    * I test drove the 2007 Honda Odyssey EL-L R+N at Flow

    * I selected 25 dealers in NC and created an Excel spreadsheet with all relevant info, with some formulas that calculated against the Flow internet quote as a baseline

    * I obtained fax numbers and email addesses for all 25 dealers. (some internet addresses were invalid, though)

    * I constructed a professional "Request for Quote" letter.

    * I faxed the letter to all 25 dealers (all faxes sent ok)
    * I emailed to as many dealers as possible.

    * I received 15 responses.

    * I sent the 3 lowest quotes to Flow to get the deal. It took me 1 hour to get in and out to pick up the van today. I am pleased with Flow!

Here are some of the results:

Flow Quote, which is the baseline: 36670.83
    Lowest quote: 34725.68, -1945k difference
    Highest quote: 38871.39 +2201 difference

    Lowest invoice: 30585
Highest invoice: 31995 (which was Flow)

    OBSERVATIONS:
    * Lake Norman and other dealers tended not to follow instructions as specified in the "Request for Quote." This was predicted, however, because many of the salepeople are not trained in professional careers.

    * Even though I strongly stated to give the best quote because I would not negotiate beyond the "Request for Quote," the dealers that gave good quotes wanted the business enough to try to persuade me away from the 35k deal. I kept to my word, though.

    * Getting low quotes and pitting dealers against each other by name is a good way to get the lowest quote.

    * Hendricks Charlotte and Greensboro would have given me the best deals if I was after bottom dollar.

    * It was hard to get emails and faxes to send a custom professional letter. I got them over the internet on a Sunday because of my time constraints. Calling the dealers would have yielded a better return.

    * Just going to the web sites may produce the same results or better, but I wanted the dealers to vie for my business within 2 days time--and it worked.

Thanks...Auto Park Cary has me at $33k out the door. I can get it from Fayetteville for $32.7K.

I'll go back to Auto Park and give them a final offer...will see what happens.

    Thanks.

can you tell the out the door price w/out the extras you bought? thanks.

Today I drove to Phoenix for buying a 2007 Odyssey EX-L model. One dealer give me a crazy price with out of door price as more than 35K. I told him it's way beyond reasonable range. Then he gave me a price as 31,781. I walked away and went to another dealership. I got one offer with out of door price as $31,000. I ever told them I was expecting 30K as the out of door price. They told me it's impossible to match this. Later on they showed me $31,000 as the price tag. I told them if they can make it as 30,500 I'll think about it...They told me they'll lose money for doing that. So I walked away again....Could anybody here give me his experience or 2-cents about this deal? Thanks a lot and I'm really want to buy this EX-L as soon as possible. But I do think that the price I got is too high....

aroth23, Thank you very much for the reply. I was almost all set to go to dealership today. Then I saw your reply yesterday afternoon and made a quick call to Planet. End up talking to a sales person who was very nice and honest (can't believe I used this word to describe a car sales man). His name is Arturo. He made me a very low quote and I counter it with an offer about 150 less than I would pay in the other dealership. He took it without any b&s. We agreed to meet at 8pm. Got there, we did all the paperwork. Again, absolutely no games. He got me the car and had someone work overtime to get it ready. By 10pm, I was driving it home. Arturo told me that internet has really change how dealership works. He knows people go this route are too smart to be fooled by the typical games the old fashion saleman like to play. He is happy to settle on the low commission and just get the volume.

I went with exl without n&r. Out of the door I paid slightly less than 30K. which translate into a sale price about 26800, aobut 1200 below invoice.
  • tcltcl Member Posts: 42
May be you would like to take a short vacation to Southern Calif for a few hours drive and save enough to pay for it. Most quote over here for a EX-L for $ 28,500 or so. Riverside Honda give a quote for $ 27,378 plus tax & Lic. approx $ 30,000 in Calif. Penske Honda will work with you also. They are straight forward and nice to deal. No such thing as $ 400 dealer fees or add on. The price may be even better when the new Toyota van out in a couple of weeks.
  • goingon3goingon3 Member Posts: 10
I'm in NC and one delaearship has a "demo" in the color I'm looking for. His new price is #32,500 ish "out the door" (tax is 3%), so I'm not even sure what would be a good price for a "demo" model.

Anyone have any experiences to draw on?

Thanks. Otherwise, I think I can get new $32,700 w/out any hassles or up-sell preasure.
  • sunshine529sunshine529 Member Posts: 8
Wow...thank you so much for your post! I just called Riverside Honda (CA) and they gave me an internet quote of 26800 + taxes & fees (Odyssey exl 2007). I just have to pay for 2 plane tickets to get there and pick up the car and drive home. They're willing to pick us up from the Ontario airport too. That's 2000 less than the Utah dealers were willing to give me. Thank you so much!
  • sunshine529sunshine529 Member Posts: 8
Nevermind...she called me back and said she quoted me the wrong price (Riverside Honda).
  • tcltcl Member Posts: 42
It should be below $ 28,000. I did not buy from them because they do not have my color at that time. I cannot wait that long because the 3.9% financing ended in 12/4. Lucky I did not wait, Honda did not extend the low financing. Riverside call me after that end day while I already brought from Penske. They are less than 10 miles apart and both have lot of Odyssey in stock may be 50+. Penske start with a high quote but end up beat the Riverside price. They are very nice people to work with. They do not pay games in the dealer.
  • mafernamaferna Member Posts: 83
You should be able to get it at invoice, if not below.
I just bought an EX-L RES 10 days ago (Bell Honda) for $30,532 before TTL. Price includes tint (front), mudguards, cargo tray, destination and doc fee.

I am a newcomer and in chicago. A dealer offered me $25200 for 2007 Honda Odyssey EX (not including tax 9% and other fees). Is this a good deal? Should I wait until after Christmas for a better deal of 2006 Honda Odyssey EX? Someone said that during the week before new year, dealers usually offer much discount on the left cars of the current year. Your advice will be greatly appreciated.

    aroth23,

What were the other dealers that you worked with. I'm working on a purchase in the Jersey area (EXL with Nav & RES). It'd be great if I could get down to 1200 below invoice, but I think that might be a bit much...?

    Thanks
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
That price sounds prety good but shop around to compare. '06 Odysseys are gone most places.
  • chicagonewcomechicagonewcome Member Posts: 4
Thanks a lot. this dealer has 4 days on sale. Most dealers asked about $25800 or more.
  • shawnxzshawnxz Member Posts: 11
When I bought my 2003 camry, the manual said the new car has a 5000 miles of break-in period, which means you should not drive the car with a speed beyond 50/55 miles/hr. Does the Honda odyssey also have this break-in period? If so, it might be a headache for me to buy an Odyssey from a dealer who is 100 miles away. Is this true? I sincerely hope anyone who already bought the new 2007 Odyssey EX-L could share the info with me...Thank you so much in advance.
  • tcltcl Member Posts: 42
The manual only said first 600 miles not to go over 4000 rpm, avoid sudden stop or acceleration. Usually they do not want you to drive at constant high speed for a long time. Nothing wrong to drive over 55 mph for a short time or vary you speed. Do not change your oil earlier than required. I hope this help.

I've received several quotes from dealers over the internet and this is the best so far. What do you think? Price includes destination charge but not tax and title. Thanks!
  • goingon3goingon3 Member Posts: 10
The search is over. I pulled in the driveway with the EX-L in Nimbus Grey (DVD and NAV).

    I'm in NC (3%) tax!

Southpoint Honda in Durham was amazing. Proffesional, no pressure, great attitude, great car buying experience.

No reason to run to Charlotte, Concord, Fayetteville, Sanford, or Lake Norman. If you do your homework, the local guys will take care of you.

They offer a free quote off Edmunds.com which sparked me to give them a shot...they really came through. I've found that at a certain point, certain prices ARE too good to be true.

In my case, they were competitive with the best local quote I could find and the service I'll get and money and time I'll save by not being forced to drive two hours, will be well worth it.
    Good Luck Y'all!

Picked up a 06 EX-l from Pompano Honda, FL. Spoke with the internet department.

    Price $26,452
    Dealer Proc. $349
    Tag $250
    Tax 6 %

    Total $28,450

I think this is lowest for a new EX-L. Only two sales people at the dealership. Still have three EX and one touring left on the lot. Out of state folks, get a one way ticket and pick up the car. Weather is nice in FL.

Contact me if you need any additional info.

Good luck in the crazy car buying world.

I will answer it for aroth23, Read my message #14215. What I did is to further bargain from their internet quotes. I got quotes from openroad, dch, essex and planet, all via emails or phone. My second lowest out of door price was from dch. Here is the number crutching I did. Take invoice, in my case 28003. deduct 3% of that as holdback. deduct $500 dealer incentive. then deduct the doc fee (not other fees to honda or the government). You should arive a true cost by dealer. In my case, it is about 26300. Add $500, which I think the dealer deserve it for providing the service. So you can reach the final price and ask for it. Good luck.

Just want to give back to this group. It helped me to save quite bit money. BTW, I really like my new odyssey.

I know a dealer who will beat any price in Chicago by 100 dollars. 25,100 can be gotten. just call Honda on Grand and ask for Jay. I would not have mentioned his name but your email is hidden here and I could not mail you directly.
  • hondaguy697hondaguy697 Member Posts: 25
I got a good drive out at that dealer too. was around 32k plus they treat you like a human.
  • exb0exb0 Member Posts: 539
There is a $500 dealer incentive? Is it still active? How did you find that out?
  • b24b24 Member Posts: 1
those dealers, including classic, first texas, howdy, are all consistenly 1000+ higher than houston and san antonio.

unless they have a higher costs, they are beinng really greedy. Make the short trip and save yourselves some money.
  • hondaguy697hondaguy697 Member Posts: 25
That seems to be the case...I talked to Gunn, San Marcos, Fernandez and Gillman ( didnt call benson cause ive heard to much negative crap) and it seems that they all kill austin and gunn gave me the best out of all of them. plus I like the way they do buisness and treat you.
