No I didn't post a site link but here it is now.

    http://tirerack.com/suspension/Susptabl.jsp?autoMake=Chevrolet&autoModel=TrailBlazer+LTZ+2wd&autoYear=2002

You'll need to cut and paste this one until I can figure out how to do the active link on this site.

Hmmm, okay I guess it went live. I'll have to remember that. If there are any problems getting to the site just go to tirerack.com and look for the "Shop For Suspension Products" section. It's just a plug and chug then.

to answer the question about the 1sk pkg that is only available on the slt. And since u don't want leather u have the right pkg. the sun roof and a moon roof i believe are the same they both slide into the roof. i did notice ur 1sd pkg u can if u like subsitude the 6Cd changer to a singel cd and a cassette alos i belive if ur not going to tow real heavy trailers u can also get a 3:73 rear instead of the 4:10 rear. Now as far as an Explorer my wife and i both loved the Envoy XL over the Explorer v8 XLT The Envoy XL is easyer to get into the 3rd row for one thing. alot more room then the Explorer if u go for the XL. i hope this helped you. By the way i did a lot of checking around and was able to drive an Xl before i ordered it was very sweet i think u wil find it the same way. Good luck keep me posted

TJC I'm looking at buying an Envoy XL SLT...do you mind my asking how much you ordered it for?
I'm in Northern CA and very few of the dealers here have them.

I also have a vibration in the gas pedal around 55mph when lightly de-accelerating. Sometime I can also hear it.

I installed mud guards on TB last fall. I did the installation without removing any wheels or jacking it up.
For the front, I just turned the wheel all the way to one side as I installed the guards.
For the rear, I used an awl to make a small hole in the fender and the guard, since both the fender and guard is plastic. I then used a stubby screwdriver to install the screws. I figured that it was not necessary to drill holes since I was going into plastics and it would hold a little better without drilling a hole.
It only took about 30 minutes to install all 4 guards.
The guards have been tight ever since.

I've tried to duplicate the concern of pedal vibration experienced by several people on this forum in my bravada, but I can't seem to find it... My bravada does give decent road feel though, like when I go over a bump, I can feel it in the pedal. Could it be caused by tires/road surface? Without the traditional throttle linkage, the only real feedback you could be getting are vibrations that travel through the frame.

Man go away for a weekend and come back to 85 posts! Anyway I was out 4-wheelin in NC this past weekend. Interestingly didn't see a lot of variety out there Jeeps, Tacos, K1500 Jimmy, some Isuzus, and there was a Land Rover Convention. Pics at http://isuzu-suvs.com/events/unf-04-26-02/ I really wanna see the new Triplets out there!

    Hello All:
My Envoy SLT has 4500 miles on it. My service manager has ordered the license plate gasket for me. I didn't have the chipping, but wanted the gasket as prevention. NOW, I notice that the chipping has started (goes about 1/2 around the plate area). This concerns me greatly, because I see metal. Is there something that needs to be done in addition to adding the gasket.
Thanks all for an invaluable resource. When I go to the dealer armed with your info, I don't get the run-around. THANKS!!!!!
  • pauleulpauleul Member Posts: 116
Are you sure you see metal? If it has only just started to chip, you should only be at the primer. On my Maroon Envoy, which was chipping off from day one, it only went to the light colored primer (white?). I had the gasket installed 2 weeks later and still only down to the primer. If you want to see what mine looked like the day before the install, check out the picture on Tim's (tlauro) site.

They installed the gasket (seal) without doing anything to the chipped paint on mine which was OK by me.

If you really are down to the metal, I would make them touch-up (paint) where it is exposed. Even with the gasket you may well end up with rust otherwise. Just my opinion.

    Good luck.
  • envoyownerenvoyowner Member Posts: 42
Thanks Pauleul. Maybe I spoke too soon. My Envoy is Black and the sudden lightness made me think I was looking at metal. Eeeeek!!! I'll look again. It seemed to me to be, as you described, kind of a hazy-white so maybe primer. You say you had the gasket installed and still only down to the primer. Can you still see it (even with the gasket)?

I have a '02 TB LS with about 7000 miles on it. There have been two incidences where my A/C has blown hot air and never cooled off. Also, I feel as though the performance of the A/C is rather erratic - sometimes very cool/cold, but sometimes just so-so. Shapiro3 posted in message 5067 about having the same problem. I'm going to bring mine back to the dealer in the next week or so to see about getting a license plate gasket and to check on the A/C. If anyone else has had similar problems and/or subsequent fixes, please share. Thanks!
  • pauleulpauleul Member Posts: 116
    envoyowner,

No. The gasket covers an additional 1/4" or so.

Here is the link to the pictures Tim (tlauro) has on his site.

    http://www.timlauro.com/cars/trailblazer/paint-chipping-before-after.htm

Click on each picture to get an enlarged view. You can see on my Envoy it is quite obvious with the primer showing. The other picture is one I took of a TB still on the lot which came from the factory with the gasket installed.

What really surprised me was a number of people posting here didn't think the chipping was a big deal. Felt they should just accept it as a minor flaw. While it is true the lighter colors won't show as much, it still will make the popping sound and eventually should wear through to the metal.

On your black Envoy, it will show up real nice! Don't worry, the gasket will look and work perfect for you.

GM eyes wagons of 60's for its cargo-carrier XUV

General Motors will take cues from station wagons
of the 1960's when it offers its 2004 GMC Envoy
with sliding roof panel over the cargo area.

The Envoy XUV will allow the sport utility to
carry such things as an upright refrigerator,
a grandfather clock or a 6 foot palm tree.

The Envoy XUV is based on the long wheelbase
Envoy XL, which went into production this year.
But instead of the seven passenger seating, the
XUV seats five. The power operated sliding roof
covers what would have been the third passenger
seat. The roof opens toward the front of the
    vehicle.

The Envoy XUV will have a cabin door separating
the second row of seats from the cargo area.
When those seats are down the cabin door can be
opened and folded flat into the floor, providing
    more cargo capacity.

The Envoy XUV will go into production in late
winter or early spring of 2003.

I think this sounds very interesting

It sounds like GM can't seem to get enough of trying to cross an SUV with a pickup. So far their attempts have been failures IMO. Maybe that is what continues to drive them. Keep doing it until they get it right?

It is a marketing pearl. They have the marketing mix down nearly perfect. How else could they sell such a non-useful product so well? :)

NOW you tell me! (about using an awl to make the holes and not having to remove the rear wheels) Actually I am kinda glad I did it that way. Discovered several lug nuts barely tight, and a couple so tight they didn't want to cooperate at 1st. Made me aware that the lug nuts on all 4 wheels, from the assembly line, were not torqued properly. Or to give them the benefit of the doubt maybe they just needed to get "seated" in and then retorqued since everything was new. (Also, as delivered by the dealer, the tires had 42 to 45 PSI). I suggest everyone check theirs and use a torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts in the correct "star" pattern.

I, too, have experienced the front wheels binding on a sharp left turn with my 02 Bravada. I haven't taken it in yet to be looked at. Another person I know who has an 02 Bravada had the same problem and has had it fixed. We are both from Wisconsin.

Gam2, I have also experienced serious problems with my vehicle stalling (the computer has been replaced 2 times). Now almost 6k on the newest computer with no problems.

Well.. I dunno yet because I haven't had a chance to drive it (ha, ha). Ironically, I arrived from Columbus late yesterday evening and found my mom tooling around town in my SUV. So, once she returned home, I didn't bother to drive it since she had the engine good and warm already.

I work 90 miles from Saginaw (in Lansing) and I drove my Grand Am GT into the office today. I will check out my Envoy tonite once I get home and let you know what I can find out. It should be "good and cold" around the time that I will arrive at home. It's outside and dealing with Michigan's harsh elements and very cold climate! Let's keep our fingers crossed!

The new Car & Driver has a color pic of the new Buick version of the triplets. It is the same vehicle that I had seen in two separate Harris Poll interactive polls I took. I can hardly wait to see which of the names we voted on that they give it. Now we have QUADS!!
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
So we now have Isuzu/GMC/Chevy/Olds/Buick/Caddy all with versions... Talk about a waste of effort etc, for essentially the same vehicle.

Thanks again pauleul. I looked at the pictures, and the chipping on my Envoy is the exact same pattern/location (leftside; just a bit across the top). Makes me sick and I'm hoping that the gasket is indeed the fix. By the way, I had a strange thing with my electronic display. Last time I filled up, the range read "316" - of course, I knew that was off (usually something like "286") As I drove on that tank, I had the range display on and it seemed to go up and down rapidly (saying 186 then a minute later 176). The needle placement also seemed inconsistent with the readings. I believe there was a mention of a TSB regarding needle gauge inaccuracies. Do you know if this applies to what I've described?
  • cmack4cmack4 Member Posts: 302
Did you reset the Average MPG any time recently? I've found that the Miles Remaining relies heavily on the instant MPG if the Average MPG has been reset any time recently. In other words, the longer you've been driving without resetting the Average MPG, the more accurate your readings will be...
  • envoyownerenvoyowner Member Posts: 42
No, I've never reset the Average MPG.
  • envoyownerenvoyowner Member Posts: 42
I have also noticed this on my Envoy. ("I feel as though the performance of the A/C is rather erratic - sometimes very cool/cold, but sometimes just so-so.") I even had the dealer check to make sure the seat warmer wasn't coming on by accident. They said no. I would appreciate any info that you find out. Thanks!
  • pauleulpauleul Member Posts: 116
    Envoyowner,

Actually, the chipping was all the way around on mine, I just picked the worst area that I thought would show up the best in a picture. It showed very well didn't it? Once you get the gasket on (and your memory fades) you'll never know the difference.

I think cmack4 hit it on the head for your display questions. Put your DIC on current mileage and step on it. Goes down to 4mpg real fast. Coast and watch it go way up to unreal MPG. If either of those were true as an average, your total range would also be changing just as dramatically. Nothing wrong, it all makes sense, that's how it works. Isn't it fun to play with all the gadgets on these trucks?

I found one thing missing (on the Bose system no less). Repeat (RPT) button for playing the same song over and over on a CD. Guess that's what I get for being so cheap and not getting the changer. I think you get that feature if you also have the changer. Hey, maybe I can get another TSB going to add the RPT button? ;>)

I think I do remember seeing a TSB on the A/C when we all had our illegal access to the GM site. I don't know if Tim posted that one on his site or not, you guys might want to check it out. If he hasn't yet, he still may add it in the future. I know he has found another way to access all that good stuff GM doesn't want us to see.

Then there is still the GM guy with an IDEA. Who knows, he might be able to come through.

Penny14: What did they do to fix the Bravada you spoke of, or has it already been posted here?

Called my dealer today for an update. Nothing. He suggested calling customer service. I did. They said they allow 7-10 working days before they try to expedite a backordered part. Unbelievable. And seeing that the part wasn't ordered until Thursday, even though the problem was known of Tuesday, it could be May 8th until GM expedites the part! Absolutely freakin' unbelievable! A similar situation with my Subaru had customer service looking for a part the same day. GM customer service (what an oxymoron) sucks. Out of respect for those with minimal problems, this will be the last time I will bash GM on this site,
although my opinion will be know off-site. I will keep everyone posted however, when parts are finally found.

First time on this site. Outstanding information. Just purchased the TB EXT. This after I swore no more GMs (just traded in the dreaded 95 Blazer). Anyone else get the EXT yet? How has it performed for you? Ours was manufactured in 03/02. We live near Pittsburgh. The first 100 miles have been excellent. Hoping the first 100,000 miles will do as well!!!! Regards, Rob

Well.. as things stand, STILL NOT CORRECTED!! Ha, ha! I fired her up this evening, backed outta the driveway and placed it in drive. When I attempted to accelerate, I was greeted by an even WORSE hesitation than before.. almost feeling as if the vehicle was going to stall or something? Geez.. I just cannot win I guess.

One thing that I noticed is that my cooling fan seems to be more active now. It was on briefly when I attempted to accelerate, then it shut off. At this point, I am not sure what to make of it besides stating the obvious.. "It's Unacceptable." it's unacceptable for my vehicle to have a hesitation like an old 89 Buick or something.. I want it to accelerate as powerful off the line as everything else that I drove/drive including my 02 Grand Am GT. I swear, with my GT.. it seems as if it's "meaner" when it's cold. You can actually burn the tires if your not careful. Oh well, I am supposed to take it back in to the dealer once the backordered parts arrive, so I will definitely bring this to their attention. If not, then I am going to have this issue addressed several more times and then try the arbitration route. Heck.. I won a case with GM on my 1996 GMC Jimmy and my 1999 Chrysler both without attorneys so it's gotta be worth a shot! I hate to even consider going this route, but I am not going to keep a vehicle that has a hesitation problem.. it's still NEW for crying out loud! Oh well.. Wish me luck!

    Thanks!

"Heck.. I won a case with GM on my 1996 GMC Jimmy and my 1999 Chrysler both without attorneys so it's gotta be worth a shot!"

This is why car companies will continue to make sub-par vehicles and even worse customer service, just amazes me is all.

Saw on the Chev. web page about the EXT and also saw one at dealer's lot. There was no sticker showing MSRP. Can someone let me know what to expect to pay for EXT? Also, what options are available? I really like the idea of having that third seat.

    OUCH -

Sorry to hear it. There has to be some simple explanation here. I'm not sure what to think though.

I left my Envoy sit for two days and this morning the hesitation was more noticeable than it ever was before. What would explain a behavior like that. It is almost like a battery running down or something. When you drive it a little it recovers, but the longer it sits the worse the condition gets. There was a TSB out that had something to do with problems after setting around for a long time, but I think it was weeks, not overnight or a couple days. I think I'll chase that awhile.

Good Luck and thanks for keeping me posted.

Just to balance against all the complaints.

I am happy with my 02 Bravada. Best new car experience I've had. Great paint quality, perfect motor, acceptable mileage, at a great price.

I just had the wandering mirrors and license surround gasket applied at Davis-Moore Olds in Wichita. Great service. Donovan Baker is the Service Writer, he did a great job for me.

02 Bravada, prettiest red I ever saw.

    Medolark,

Well.. just for kicks.. they replaced my battery with a new one during the service visit last week? Hmm.. I really don't know what else it could be besides just being completely abnormal. Also, you are right when you mentioned "the longer it sits, the issue becomes more pronounced." It's a hard one to resolve because the dealer basically has only a few chances to notice the hesitation because for the most part, the engine has to be COLD.. not warm or luke-warm. I will more than likely leave my Envoy with them once the parts arrive for several days because I want them to get to the bottom of this, especially since it seems as if this dealership truly cares about my well being. Wish me luck.. I may end up with another loaner car (Ford Focus) for an additional two weeks! YUCK!!

Are we talking cold as in cold in temperature, or cold as in not having been run for X hrs? If it is an X hrs type cold could it be a bad fuel pump or line that is draining back into the tank or something? Just a thought.

Stickers for the upperend (with Leather) range from $35-37K. We were looking for seven seats and we felt the EXT had a better feeling inside and the seat belts all had the shoulder harness, even the rear middle (safety Freaks)...Regards, Rob

Good to hear! I've had several small issues with my Bravada, but overall it's been a great vehicle so far (3500 miles)! Mine is actually in the shop today for the Gasket, New Air suspension filter (quiets the hiss when it purges air), and the wandering mirrors. The service I've gotten so far has been great! They even offered to touch-up the paint that chipped off the tailgate as well, even though it will be covered by the gasket! They seem genuinely concerned about my problems... a first time experience for me! Who knows, maybe I'll even start getting my oil changed there? They quoted $48.00 for Oil, Lube (includes axle/diff fluids), and Filter for 7 quarts of Mobil 1, and they have a nice big window I can watch through!
  • pcrisppcrisp Member Posts: 22
I would definitely have them do the oil change for $48. Check and see if that also includes a Mobil 1 oil filter, that alone will cost about $11-12 at Autozone. My dealer doesn't offer Mobil 1 anymore, so either I do the oil change myself, or have them do it with my own supplies for $8. The filer and 7 quarts typically cost me $45 for all Mobil 1. I too have been very impressed with my dealer concerning service issues. Unfortunately on up the line at GM they are not always so caring for their customers. Anyhow, I so far have had both mirrors replaced, the wheel bearing replaced (squeal problem), the tailgate gasket, and the first problem that was fixed was the metal sheeting in between the side windows on the rear doors. It started bubbling up like a bad tint job. They promptly ordered new sets for both sides and I have not had the problem re-occur. I believe that the heat made the thin aluminum stretch and then when it cooled it began to blister. Everyone might want to check theirs out especially with the summer heat coming up soon.

I have a new 2002 Trailblazer LT, I am going to be picking up my new jet ski next monday and was wondering what I have to pick up ahead of time to be ready to trailer it home, i.e. hitch, ball, electrical connector. I have never trailered anything before so if you could point me to somewhere that I could just run out and pick it up that would be great, also some driving tips would be nice too. Thanks in advance

You'll need the appropriate size ball, probably 1-7/8", a ball mount and a 7-to-4pin adapter to connect to your trailer electrical connector on the Tb. hth, Tim

Here's a site that has all the TB accessories with pictures. I'm sure there is an GMC & olds equivalent. I know some folks were wanting to know what the vinyl floor mats look like.

I've got leather seats and when I fold them down the auxillary electrical outlet in the back console presses into the lower seat cushion, causing an indentation. The cap for the outlet has a raised lip for the intent of making it easier to open, but this makes the indentation in the seat worse.

I was wondering if they had corrected this in newer models. I'm probably just going to cut the cap's umbilical cord and remove it to solve the problem.
