Hey traley, well doing the shifter swap is the easy part .You just have to find a chrome shifter to replace your old one. Good luck. As for the chrome moulding around the windows(official name of this part is DLO) . Yes you can replace your non chrome DLO with the chrome one but it is not a small job. It is screwed down from the inside of the door ,you must almost disassemble the whole door to get to the screws that hold the DLO in place. Also I wound not want know what DC would charge for those four mouldings. Maybe just one arm or leg , not both LOL ....hope this help.OTTO

At least tell me what part of my car, if any, you might have had your hands on. :-)

Yes the air intake does have a restriction in the big resonator box just before the TB , this is used to quite the air going into the motor .So passengers inside the car don't hear that WOSHING sound. Actually that part has now been discontinued for about 3-4 weeks. Now all new LH cars have nothing inside that box ,just big open space. So if DC can remove it from the cars ,no reason you guys cant just replace it with a hose.
Lonestar is correct , the H.P are all roughly the same for the Prowler ,300 and R/T. I have never heard of this 300 H.P program . The only way to get more out of this engine is to do what DC is going to do with the 300 Tuner motor,- cams, port and polish . All the hotrod tricks.

Anyone have some pictures of this air restrictor and some hints on how to remove/replace it? Last one in is a rotten egg! lol

Fastdriver - Thanks :) I like where it ended up. I think I'm done with external mods for the car now....even WITH the rear door handles still on. :)

tell me more about cams port and polish. is this something we can have done, or would that be a risky project? any idea on the price of the special?
  • stangspankinmstangspankinm Member Posts: 13
did you also run the chrome strip all the way up the doors and around the fuel door? can't wait to see some pics. i think they make the chrome fender things for the 300m too.

first take off the air filter cover. Next disconect the air hose leading to the rear pleumn. You will need a screw driver or socket set to do this. Next loosen the clamp on the throttle body. Now you can lift up on the intake side and slide it out. You will have to remove the clamp (it is not reuseable) connecting the pleumn to the 90 degree turn hose. You will need to use some pipe (ABS) to make the replacement, along with a 45 degree bend. Don't forget to drill a hole in the pipe to reconnect the vacume line you disconected earler. Or you can take the Pleumn apart to remove the restriction.

I went hunting for something to act as a channel for the air flow between the air box and the air scoop. No luck to day will try again next week. The search goes on.

I put in an order for 2 more sets of the side marker lights. I plan to use them for my front headlight modification. What I plan doing is getting rid if the chrome between the two headlights (upper triangle), and the side so that they will act as my turn signals and marker lights. then I will put clear lenses on present marker lights for cornering lights. I thought of the idea when I put on the side marker lights and saw them flash, it really lit up the side area aroung the car.

That's one fine looking "M" that you have!! The tint really sets off the red! I'll give them a try for my tint, thanks! :~)

nice logo clock---but maybe it would look even better if you put the M logo on the top part and the wing on the bottom--they you could probably read the 300 better--what do you think?

The headlights will be simular to the 300N. Except for two marder/turn lights in each headlamp.

I like your interior Mods :), except for. I would have placed the NAV system up higher. It is too low. Ideally it should have gone where the clock is.
  • 300michael300michael Member Posts: 1,815
I have changed direction on the intake. Instead of putting a split channel, I will attach the channel to the hood and have it go across to the air box where it will make a seal with a pipe going stright down. Much easer and would seal better. A few small channels with small holes at the end should take care of any water that should get in the channel. (snow, which we do not get here would be another problem). Just need to find some 1.5" X 6" channel.
  • avalanche165avalanche165 Member Posts: 558
i am gonna stick with the box, and hose off from there. because we get mucha mucha rain and snow, i need to devise seomthing for the rain tho man. i don't want water in my intake. rigth now i have taht little flap in there that just deflects the water to teh sides. hmmmmm....

Has anyone successfully taken the plenum apart? It would be nice to reuse because of the vacuum hose fitting and mount point. However, taking it apart looks like a bust - literally and figuratively. Next thought is to get the new replacement part from Chrysler. "How much could a plastic box cost?", he asked naively.

Your manual site had every stinking manual except the 99 LHS and 300M Service Supplement I'm looking for. I have seen a picture of the front cover and it's green. Still need part number from back cover. Anyone?

Hey everybody, what's up? This is just my introduction to the 300M Town Hall. I have a 2001 300M and you can see pics of it at ... http://members.cardomain.com/herrmdogg ... please check back there often as I will be updating that site sometime this week when I get my car back from having the custom built air suspension installed and can take some pics. Please email me at herrmdogg@yahoo.com or leave a message here and let me know what you think of my ride and also where I can check yours out at. I am also glad to discuss any projects with anyone as well as any modification questions I may be able to help out with too. Thanks and I hope to talk to all of you soon.

  • herrmdoggherrmdogg Member Posts: 69
Nice exhaust and grille, looks really good. Who did the grille for you or did you do it yourself? I've been wanting to get that done but with what I've got going on to my car right now, it's kinda been put on the back-burner. Thanks.
  • beach15beach15 Member Posts: 1,305
That has got to be one of the best looking M-mods I have seen. What a great idea! I didn't know exactly what it would look like but it's just cool. Where did you get that door trim from. I've seen it in J.C. Whitney but not anywhere else.
  • rogor2krogor2k Member Posts: 385
Welcome, you are into some SERIOUS mods. Very, very cool ride.

Just to let you know, there IS a 300M Enthusiasts Club (beyond the Internet). Check out our web site at http://www.300mclub.org. We're planning a Club rendezvous in Detroit MI in August (same weekend as the Woodward Dream Cruise), which is within easy striking distance from Northern KY. I'm a Cincinnati boy myself (now residing in Seattle), so have been thru Florence many times.

One of our 300M Club static cling decals would look good on your windshield (free with membership). Here's what it looks like:

methinks you would have to make up your own channel---why not get some 1/8inch or even 1/16inch flat steel stock ---have someone with the right table saw setup with a very fine blade cut it into proper size strips and then bring it to a welder who should have no problem joining the pieces---
  • phases78phases78 Member Posts: 471
thanks!! i did it myself with door edge trim i got at pepboys, it was the only place i could find good door trim, not and off the wall company...

i just got home from nashville, so im about to post more pics up there, ill let u know when its done...
  • stangspankinmstangspankinm Member Posts: 13
i must say i was skeptical, but that grill looks great. you are very talented with the exacto. did you say you bought a roll of that? i know they usually sell the door edge in a two pack.
  • phases78phases78 Member Posts: 471
i originally got a bunch of the two packs u've seen. they are junk. they look the same, but arent, take my word for it. this is styleguard, a big roll, 25 feet long. its only like 11 bucks too. the one and only place i could find it was pepboys...

workin on the site now, more to come in a few!

Took off the plenum to "have a look". It's been plastic welded shut it appears so the top won't come off without damaging it seriously.

At each of the 3 inch ends, there is a sleeve insert. On the inlet side, it definiately narrows to a restriction (about 2 inch). Air exits this restriction over a gap between the inlet sleeve and the outlet sleeve, then enters the outlet sleeve which enlarges back to 3 inches again.

Now to remove the sleeves. What I did is pry, poke, etc and break things up a bit. The sleeve has two tangs about 1-2 inches inside that hold it in. I broke the outer 3 inch inlet plastic a little trying to pry it out, but I got it out. For the outlet sleeve I tried to punch holes in the sides of the sleeve to use to weaken it and for pry points. I did not want to use the edge of the outlet sleeve. This worked better than trying to pry between the sleeve and outer plastic as I did for the inlet side.

Now that the sleeves are out. We have a curved plastic box with a bunch of ribs inside. It's not the best thing, but it's no restriction like before.

One other thing, the intake plenum is attached to the Throttle body with a 90 deg rubber piece that round where it connects to the plenum and egg shaped where it connects to the TB. This accomodates air flow to the air sensor.

Putting everything back together, the car is not noticeably louder, even at higher RPMs. The car is always load at the higher revs anyway. Definate seat of the pants improvement. This seems to complement the TB mod I did a few weeks ago.

In conclusion, I recommend and am going to buy a 3 inch intake tube. GR8WHT (Stephen Lister)in the dodgeintrepid.net forum is selling them for $140 He's also doing Throttle Body mods for people who want someone to do it for them.

  • beach15beach15 Member Posts: 1,305
Do you have any trouble building your Homestead site? I have one started but haven't had much time to do much else to it. But when I want to update it, everything takes forever and it is very slow. Maybe because I still use a 56k dial-up modem or maybe it is something else(?). I don't really know. I'd like to get mine up and running but it just takes forever to upload a picture and get it to appear on my site.

I checked the new pics, very, very, very nice phases. I wish I had the time to tinker with my wife's M a little.
  • beach15beach15 Member Posts: 1,305
The dubs look great but how much do they affect the ride? I think those wheels would be nice on a show or rarely driven car but not for one that is driven daily over all sorts of bumps, lumps, and potholes. I read about your suspension but what exactly is it going to do and/or how are they doing it for a 300M? Otherwise, your car is just plain cool!!

Well, that wasn't me that complimented earlier it was a cheap copy of me called 300mlover253hp. But let me tell you I sure was thinking about a compliment! That grill is stylin' man! I am going to do that one first thing in the morning. Very creative mind you have.
  • phases78phases78 Member Posts: 471
i must give credit where it is due, the idea was from krolick in the yahoo club. very creative mind i have, perhaps, but that one was his lol!
  • sdmike2sdmike2 Member Posts: 2,909
Darn you phases...just when I though I was done with Big Red. LOL. Looks great man. Very nice work. Any chance of a close up high resolution picture of the grill? I'd love to see it up close.

Herrmdog - Beautiful ride. Did I read right...A Sega? Keep your eyes on the road man! lol.

Here are my albums of Big Red. I have installed a K&N (might need to do more given what I've been reading here), dual exhaust, window tint, a custom clock face and a spoiler. I've also removed the Chrysler lettering from the car for a cleaner look.

This is great, It seems that everyone is comming up with great ideas for their M's. We might just have to change the name of our cars to the Chrysler 300MODS :). Keep up the good work. This summers get togethers should be very interesting.

I may have to get steel stock and bend my own. Less welding.
  • scotianscotian Member Posts: 1,064
Given my intesne dislike of chrome strips on the outside of cars, while the chromed grille is a really cool idea, and actually looks pretty good on a light colored M, I wouldn't do it on my Deep Slate M.

Unless I can get black chrome door trim. Would that even look noticeably different that what's there now?
  • avalanche165avalanche165 Member Posts: 558
ok i was talkin to tracy and then i did it last night....

i was in Ruby Tuesday's parkin lot last week, and i always park the car so i can see it whereever i'm sitting inside, ;). ok so all these punks start lookin around and pokin stuff, windows were open a little, so i go outside, have a little verbal war, and that was it. but last night, muhahaha, i jstu did this for fun but it was cool....had my labtop under the seat, running off the 2nd car battey (for sound sys), and two webcams painted black and placed on each side of car (by tweeters). just gotta a motion sensor program, so whenever someone walked by, it started recording. nothin happend or anythign but like last week at school, someone tried to push down my window, it was open a hair. the window motor broke tho so i had to get that replaced, i lvoe warranty....just an idea for you fellow comptuer junkies who already have the equipment. i'm gonna upload some videos from it tho, there funny, you can even get hook to your sound system in the car and get it to say something off a cd when the motion sensor goes off...
  • ir2k300mir2k300m Member Posts: 26
Avalanche...that sounds awesome! Could you give us some more specifics on how you did this? It would be great to be able to see exactly what goes on when your not there to watch your M.
