Should be a good deal. The $22,500 is after the $750 Toyota rebate for future graduate?
  • ostaosta Member Posts: 9
I have been reading through these messages and they are quite interesting. I have a few questions though.
Is there a key to the options listed with initials? I can figure out some but not all.
I am looking for a Highlander with Nav, from what I understand that means I have to go with the limited and pretty high end. Is it hard to find these and is there and more or less negotiating room at the high end?
WIll I be limited in color choice? I like Salsa Red, or Silver.

    Thank you

No, I already graduated more than one year ago. So, the rebate did not work for me.
  • jss1918jss1918 Member Posts: 3
The initials can be found on the window sticker of the car itself. They can also be found under the "options" section of Edmunds pricing pages for the car.

    Hi
I need help on identifying the best price for a limited package with all wheel drive in the state of Oregon. I am also confused about the difference between what appears to be a variety of limited packages. SE, Natl, GS. Thank you for any help others can provide.
  • typesixtypesix Member Posts: 321
This rebate is for up to 2 years after graduation, you should have been able to have it factored in by the dealer. We bought 2004 Highlander and used wife's graduation to obtain rebate and it was within 2 year window.

Can someone recommend a good dealer willing to sell at invoice near Bellevue +- 50 miles ?
  • smtorontosmtoronto Member Posts: 1
I'm looking for the same information. Can I ask what dealer you were negotiating with? Downtown Toyota on Queen east in Toronto tried to convince me to pay MSRP of 46,500 (you'll be saving freight and PDI!!!) for a demo 2005 Highlander V6 7 pass LTD with 17,500 km. Same purchase and lease rates. Lowest they would budge on the demo was 43,500, so I walked away. Sounds like you have a pretty good deal.

I'm considering purchasing a 2001 Highlander Limited from a dealer. It's in excellent condition and a good price but has 87,000 miles. The high miles scare me. Any suggestions? Thank you!
  • mmejiammejia Member Posts: 9
    Purchased a highlander in Houston.
    Options: FE,LL,TO,VV,F1,CN,P4,L3,T2,TS,FF,M5
also dealer added his tent at retail of 495.00
total msrp including the 495.00 tint was 35685.00 35190 was printed MSRP
    paid with rebate 30200.00
Felt like I could have done better but the diffrence between what I wanted to pay 29700 and their final offer of 30200 was too close to walk on. I got the two tone paint and it was nice.
I guess I got 5000 off so I am happy.

I would get the VIN number from the car and use either CarFax or NADA (go to their web sites) to purchase a vehicle report (about $25). This will give you good information about the car, and who may or may not have owned it before. I own a 2001 Highlander Limited, have about 55000 miles and have had no major problems with it so far, and love it. Would definitely buy another one. Good luck.
  • loucapriloucapri Member Posts: 214
I got my 01 (FWD, 4 cyl) at 79K miles last year, now it has 92K miles. 0 problem so far.

If it's from a dealer (toyota?) they usually get the car clean up and fix up pretty good before they put it on the lot. In my case, my HL was 1st sold from the same dealer so they actually had all the service records.

87K seems nothing for toyota as far as I concern. of course, the price has to be right too. good luck
  • dawneedawnee Member Posts: 59
I agree the CarFax is always a good thing to do. Some dealerships get one when they trade for the car and will show you the report.

If you don't mind me asking what kind of pricing are you looking at for this HL Ltd w/ 87,000 miles? Most of Toyo dealers here in NC want almost as much for the used ones (with mileage like the one you are looking at) as they do for the new ones.

    Jbollt,
What options did you take on your 05 Limited Highlander? Leather? Value Package? Was rebate applied before tax or after?

    Please post.
    Thanks.

So I have heard the arguments against buying an extended warranty, that it is essentially overpriced insurance that you don't need, but at some price it should be worthwhile. The question is what is that price?

On the web it looks like you can get a 7 Yr 100K mile extended warranty on a V6 AWD Highlander for about $1120. A dealer is offering me this warranty for $975. Is this worth it? Or is the dealer's cost still way under the $975 (which would imply I shouldn't pay for it.)

Any thoughts? Anyone know how to value an extended warranty? Thanks.
  • mikefm58mikefm58 Member Posts: 2,882
I'd never buy an extended warranty for a Honda or Toyota. But on a Chrysler, most definately. But if $975 gives you peace of mind, then go for it. Because that's really what an extended warranty is, peace of mind.

Oh, one more thing, make sure it's a warranty backed by the manufacturer, not some 3rd party. I got burned big time with Warranty Gold.
  • mmejiammejia Member Posts: 9
I have purchased an extended warranty before and paid 1500.00...........later found out that I could have negotiated and paid about a 1000.00
Never used it but it did feel good to buy it.
I just purchased a new Highlander and I refused extended warranty, but I know before new car warranty expires they will probably try to sell you one again by mail. Ask them if you can buy it later. Toyota's I think don't need one but if you drive hard and maintain your car poorly.....buy it.
I hope my opinion helps.....good luck.

I am very much interested in purchasing a 2005/2006 Toyota Non-Hybrid Highlander in the coming few months. Is there anyone who could share with me their expereince with Toyota dealerships in the Salt Lake City, Utah area? Thank you. Mike

" maintain your car poorly "

If you do that, you'll void the warranty. You gotta keep up on the maintenance per any warranty.

I have decided to purchase a Toyota Hylander limited AWD and I am trying to find out what rebates and incentives are currently available in the Oneonta/Cooperstown, NY area. What should be a price for the top of the line? What's the veridic on getting a factory Nav system? Any help will be appreciated.

I got a internet price for a demo that was driven by the owners son. It is a 2005 AWD V6 with appearance, cold weather, preferred, and towing prep packages. It has a sunroof, curtain and side airbags, daytime running lights, and foglamps. The vehicle has 6,000 miles on it. I was quoted a price of $27,000. Is this a good price considering it has 6,000 miles? Anyone's help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  • mmejiammejia Member Posts: 9
If it has leather option with 6 thousand miles I would say its a good deal.
If the offer is 27000.00 you owe it to yourself to offer 25k and see how they react.
Well thats my 2 cents worth.

I do recommend you run a Kelley blue book on it and see value.

Just wondering if this is a good deal. I have not signed the contract yet...

    $356 plus tax for 36 months / 12k
AWD 6cly w/ Side and Curtain Airbags and Moonroof and power seat
    $0 down
$1,500 at inception including all dealer fees (bank fee of 500) and MV fees and First month payment
    .0011 MF
    $18,232 RESID
    MSRP $31,685

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. My wife and I test drove the Pilot as well which is a llittle cheaper but its a little too large for my wife.

Bought a Highlander Limited 4x2 (Sonoma Gold Pearl) in Atlanta. Paid $29,200 before state tax but after applying rebate/incentive of $1250.

Packages on the vehicle are LL (Limited Package), LA (Leather Package), VV (Value Package), HD (Heated Front Seats), GY (Side Curtain Airbags) and the Tow Package. I think is a great deal. Please let me know what you think. Sticker price was $34,200 before tax.

We got the same packages plus carpet and cargo mats on the same vehicle new for $26,900 after incentives in the Boston area so I would have to say the price you were quoted is high.

    Brian,
I wondered if you managed to find a good deal at an NJ dealer on a Highlander?

We are negotiating on a V6 AWD with 3rd seat at the moment and are eager to find alternative quotes.

    Thanks,

    Moggi1964,
Try www.prestigetoyota.com. They are located in Ramsey. MSRP was 31,800. Got it for 28k. They had 65 HL to choose from. Just don't go there on a Sat afternoon, the place gets extremely crowded.

I am planning to buy Highlander V6 Front Wheel Drive in NJ. I contacted a few dealers to check the prices . I am getting quotes for around 26000 OTD price ( 6% Tax in NJ). Dealer said that Front wheel drive don't come with Side/cutain Air bags is that true? Can you please share your buying experience for V6 Front wheel drive .I am also considereing 4 cyl. So please share the information or idea about prices from your recent expereince.

    Thanks,

From what I'm seeing for the production schedule for June, the V6 FWD models are NOT being built with side and side curtain airbags. The only configuration they are being built as are: FE AG EH RL. The 4cyl models are being built: FE MG PG RL. And at least here in the Northeast, I have not had any luck in trying to special order a vehicle that is different that how Toyota is building them. That is with over 10yrs experience working with Toyotas. Hope this helps.

    AJ,

First, keep in mind that different areas of the country have MUCH different demands for different types of vehicles. For example, AWD Highlanders here in Buffalo are VERY hard to come by. I'm at the highest volume Toyota Dealer here in Buffalo and have only 5 highlanders of any kind in inventory on the ground right at the moment. The normal number we have is somewhere between 40-50. Typically FWD models are discounted a bit more than AWD models in this area. However, from what I've heard, FWD models are much more in demand downstate in NY and in NJ. What I can tell you is that from what I can see, there are also not alot of them on dealer lots in New Jersey either, although there are several that are allocated to dealers in that area. I would recommend a dealer to work with if I had any experience with any in the area, but I'm sorry that I don't. What I would do is work with the dealer that you're most comfortable with, and make and see what they would be willing to sell the vehicle for over invoice. If they are reputable, they should not have a problem bringing out and showing you an invoice on a particular vehicle and then you can work from there. My best guess is that you're going to end up somewhere between $500 - $1000 over invoice on one in the area you're in. Then take a look to see if any rebates would make more sense or the special financing. However, stop into your local credit union or bank to have a competitive rate before going in so that you have a reasonable point of comparison.

The least expensive V6 FWD highlander that I'm seeing in the NJ area from running a locate is $27,988 from what I can see.

Hope this helps and good luck in your shopping.

    Ken

I'm also looking to buy a FWD V6 with side curtain airbags and 3rd row in Chicago. I have located at least 17 in stock in the area. They all come with sun roofs and list at $29,804. I have quotes of around $25K before tax and after the $800 rebate. See drivechicago.com for a nice inventory listing; maybe NJ has something similar.
  • akkijainakkijain Member Posts: 17
Thanks Mer! I got a quote of 26000$ before tax after rebates but no sunroof and curtains air bags in NJ area.So Chicago is a good place to buy highlander. Good Luck. Please let me know what you paid so I will try to get similar quotes in NJ.

I am at SF bay area. The highlander is FWD V6 with 3rd row, FE, TO, LF, EH, HE, SR, AG, JY, CF, R7. Total MSRP is $30, 433. Negotiated the price of $26000 after rebate. OTD paid $286**.**. The finance lady kept telling me it is a good deal. Is it a good deal? I love this car.
  • tinatinatinatina Member Posts: 388
    Hello ofa,

That sounds like a very good price. I am also in the SF Bay Area and I am looking for a BASE, AWD V-6, that has an MSRO of $30,400 or $30.5k. The best I could get is $4k off of MSRP, after the $1,000 rebate, or $26,400. I have sent out other emails, but I'm in no rush. I may wait a bit.

Can you provide the dealer's name?

I'm about to purchase my first new vehicle, and I'm really excited!

Currently I'm comparing the Toyota Highlander to the Honda Pilot and Buick Rendezvous.

I'd love to get the Highlander, but it's $100+ more per month compared to the Buick Rendezvous because there is no deal on the HL currently.

Question: I was wondering if anyone can tell me whether Toyota will be having a better deal on the Highlander any time soon. Any ideas? Research showed me that in 2004 there was as low as 0% financing and also $2500 cash back.

    Thanks!

I'm just beginning the process of buying a new car, and after researching have it narrowed down to Highlander or Jeep Grand Cherokee. My parents had a horrific experience at the Toyota dealer close to where I live (Tansky on Sawmill), so I'm looking for recommendations for another Toyota dealer in the Columbus/Delaware area. Also, I'd like to know price on a Ltd AWD if there's any Buckeyes out there who recently bought one. Thanks!

Please don't ask car dealers about doing deals in the Forums - we have a strict "no solicitation" policy, and the salespeople who participate here are very good about adhering to it. Please don't put them in a difficult position by asking. Most of their e-mail addresses are public in their profiles in any case.

I have been quoted prices for HL 4CYL w/ 3-row seat in the Dallas (Denton) area. When trying to match to the Edmunds invoice price, I can't find all the options to figure the invoice price. I have been quoted prices of vehicles with the Extra Mile Option Package A/B. I don't find this listed as one of the options. Is this package a rip off? Also what about the Glass Etch, Extra Mile Aluminum Wheel Upgrade?

Can anyone give me some gas mileages for the HL 4CYL...looking at buying new, 2005? Is the EPA estimate for city of 22 and hwy of 27 close?

    Thanks

Am familiar with HL option packages and never heard of "Extra Mile Option Package A/B" option before, but check www.toyota.com to be sure -- most of the options you mentioned -- glass etch, etc. -- are dealer add-ons and all sound like rip-offs to me (glass etching is a common dealer mark-up item that they'll try to add to the contract to fatten the bottom line -- refuse it, regardless of insistences of "its not a negotiable item" (I agree; don't even think of negotiating it into the contract), "every vehicle we sell gets it" (well let's make this the first vehicle you sell that doesn't get it); "its mandated by law" (whose law?)). Good luck!!

Looking to buy 4x2 v6 ltd with 3rd row seat. Extras include value package, leather package, side curtain airbags, and wind deflector.

Would appreciate any dealers that you worked with and would do so again as well as any pricing for similar HLs in DC/Baltimore area.

    Thanks!

Lots of on-line pricing information in Baltimore/DC area: Fitzmall, Carmax & Darcars.

We bought from a dealer closer to us (Bill Kidd's in Timonium) as that is where we will have the car serviced, and had a good experience. They matched the on-line price for the comparably equiped car without any problems.

    Good luck.

Thanks Larry. I'm closer to Annapolis, but Timonium is a short drive away...
