Let's just say the maid came and cleaned up the nastiness...no reason to delve into it again.

Yes I would like that very much . Please see if you can find my case . I have a case # for my piston slap noise ,but i don't think there is one for the head gaskets . I really like this car and hope to keep it a long time .

Juice, do you work for Subaru? If not, you should...Patti, he is knowledgeable and helpful. Any openings in Brazil for the Juice Man? How 'bout on Edmunds?
  • nygregnygreg Member Posts: 1,936

Sorry but I vote that Bob and Mike be banned from any Subaru focus group. If not then the next new Subaru might bear a striking resemblance to that monster truck that Bob posted the picture of. How else would Subaru satisfy Bob's towing and Mike's turbo diesel with tons of torque requirements? :-)

Neither Subaru nor Edmunds pays me, but if either decides to send me a check I'll cash it! LOL

    Clever, Greg.

If it was my job, I may not enjoy it as much tho.

Good response Patti, I posted previously that a few incidents does not a recall make, and to expect a car maker to pay for what is a pre-emptive remedy is more than a little ridiculous.

      Cheers Pat.

think of test driving all of our new products!! Nanny/New Subaru's/Nanny/New Subaru's - - hmmmm -

Well, I guess we'll just have to get you on some kind of consultant basis!

    I could use an employer...
any openings in the MailRoom? ;-)

    -Dave
  • subaru_teamsubaru_team Member Posts: 1,676
than that for you. I'm surprised at your "preference". Usually everyone wants to work in Product Planning or Marketing!

When I decided (back when I was young) that I wanted to work for Subaru, I was hired as a receptionist and got promoted through the ranks. It was a great way to learn about the company - one day one of our mailroom folks will be running the company!

    Patti-
I was kidding 'bout the MailRoom, but you get the idea :)
Starting from a position where one can absorb how everything in the company intertwines is the best way to learn. I believe CDS is a good place to start :D

Oh, my Dad [Senior VP., Trust Operations - retired] started his career in Singapore at the (then) Bank of Tokyo as a MailRoom clerk. Ran the North America Trust Operations before he was retired.
I kind of followed his footsteps, right up till my layoff, except my forte was Corporate/Trade Finance Operations.

good men in our Finance Dept. - feel the lure, feel the lure......I did get your "joke" btw. I kind of just fed into it!

I'd love it if some of you folks here worked at Subaru.

I really believe that starting where I did helped me a lot. Not only with understanding our product and business operations, but also how things can be impacted from one dept. to another. Subaru has been great in rewarding my efforts. I would start a job, learn more about it and let it evolve and they would adjust the job description to make sure I was compensated for the work I was doing. That really goes a long way to retaining employees and garnering their loyalty.

I've thought about working retail, but I could never see myself working for another manuf.

Patti - Not sure if you read the Events thread so I,m posting it here.

When do you plan to be at the Philly Auto Show? I will probably go Tues, Wed or Thurs (2/3 - 2/5) around noon or 1 pm. Do any other crew members plan to attend?

P.S. You can post your reply in the Events thread if you don't wish to veer off topic (like we ever do that anyway ;-).

Maybe list what date works for you? Are you coming alone?

    Patti
  • dcm61dcm61 Member Posts: 1,567
Actually, my parents may be coming along too. My Mom had discussed attending which was a surprise to me. She's happy with her '02 OBW w/ a little over 15k miles. Humm... wonder what she's looking for?

    with the advent of e-mail!

Any openings in your analytical labs?

    Steve
  • fibber2fibber2 Member Posts: 3,786
Patti offered her help to one of my co-workers who is having a problem with his '02 WRX. He is a few thousand miles over the B-to-B warranty, and the dealer offered no support. In fact her offer and level of involvement is (typical Patti) way over and beyond the call of duty!

Without getting into details about the situation, I just want to thank Patti for the remarkable job she does, and her level of dedication to the members (and friends of members) of this board. What a remarkable place the Edmunds Subaru Crew is!!!

I can't seem to find anything. Could you please call it back in? I'm off work today and tomorrow, but I'll try to catch up with a Rep. this afternoon.

    Thanks!

Out of curiosity, what financial software do you guys use over there?

    No.. I'm not a salesman....
  • subaru_teamsubaru_team Member Posts: 1,676
but most of our applications run off Oracle with some "home grown" things sprinkled throughout.

    Does that help Elm?
  • bigelmbigelm Member Posts: 995
Yes, that's what I wanted to know...

I'm a consultant for Great Plains eEnterprise & MAS 90/200.

Oracle is your driven database with customization implementation programs on top of it...

Hmmm, it must be really expensive when upgrade time comes...

    Oh well... Thanks.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Mail room... LOL Dave! I love self-depricating humor.

Besides liking the benefits I have now, I also sort of like being able to remain indy from Subaru because it allows me to be more objective.

But dangle a loaner STi in front of me and I'd probably change my mind, hee hee.

I see the OB worked out at Flemington for you mark! :)

I knew it wasn't dirty heads!

    Mike,

Yeah, it seems after a certain phone call was received (thanks Patti!)they determined it was a fuel injector; they also discovered a vacum leak- all of which has been repaired. I just have to get out there to pick it up- hopefully this evening. The rental I had stinks in this weather- even my wife said last night "I wish we were in our Subaru".

    Mark
  • bluesubiebluesubie Member Posts: 3,497
When you're in Flemington for repairs, try to talk to Ed (not lark6 :) ) about any problems. He's the shop foreman and really knows his stuff. There are a couple of other master techs there as well.

No Subie loaners really stinks though. I asked about it and they said it would be too expensive.
Patti, donate some Subes to Flemington. :-)

  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
You should have called me! I was @ Flemington yesterday with the flatbed trailer dropping off the recovered STi. If you car was done I could have just put it up on the trailer for you!

    -mike
PS: drop me an e-mail about your computer if you still need me to look at it.
  • bat1161bat1161 Member Posts: 1,784
    Dennis-

Actually it wasn't until Ed came back from vacation that the diagnosis went from dirty valves to the fuel injector. The only thing is that makes you wonder why the other folks missed it.

As for the lack of Subaru loaners- One of the service techs mentioned they are trying to get authorization from SOA to do loaners. Patti, maybe you can move things along?

Mike- If I had only known. I was home sick yesterday, so I never made it out there.

FYI: I don't think SOA has anything to do with a dealer's loaner policy. My local dealer gave me a brand new Forester X as a loaner no questions asked.

Is OnStar going to be offered on the new Legacy GT, and what about the WRX STi?

Rumour from LA Autoshow is Subaru is working on a minivan or larger passenger vehicle. Top secret or complete falsehood?

How likely will Subaru offer free maintenance on new vehicles like Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Saab, etc, and when?

Sti - Any new colors coming? What will motivate Subaru to make the STi Impreza or Legacy wagon.

Whatever can be discussed would be appreciated. No comments interpreted as yes :- )
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
No OnStar on the cars at NAIAS.

The 7 seater should be shown next year at NAIAS.

I doubt any of the other changes will happen soon.

    -juice
  • hondafriekhondafriek Member Posts: 2,984
I don't think so, nothing is free my friend no matter how much we like to think it is, any car maker offering free maintenance has the cost built in.

Think for a minute, forget about all the other supposed freebies and concentrate just on oil changes, say at the bare minimum,10dollars in material costs, times say a 100,000 vehicles just for the sake of argument, there is a million dollars just in oil changes.

Multiply by 4 oil changes per year per car on average now it is 4 million dollars.

Still think that maintenance is free.

      Cheers Pat.

It seems since Subaru is trying to upgrade the Legacy, the OnStar feature would have been a smart upscale feature, at least on the GT. I thought it was an option on the top of the line H6 VDC / LLBean VDC.
  • rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
is standard on current LL Beans and VDCs. No word on whether it will be available on '05 Outback models yet. My feeling is it should be an option, and not standard.

and try to see a bigger perspective. The notion of all these Subaru Crew, newbies, wannabes, insiders, outsiders, naysayers, gathered around a car marque and expanding outward from there into economics, politics, family, interpersonal relationship, tech suppot, emotional support, marketing, engineering, racing , car pooling...ad infinitum, is very ....umm......cool :-). Maybe the sixties werent such a wasted effort after all. My girls like to look at the stars on these winter nights- we live a long way away from the nearest street light- and Ive told them that blurry cluster of stars, the Seven Sisters, a/k/a Plieades, is known to the folks in Japan as "Subaru".

    Peace, man! Mark
