If you go to the 2005+ legacy/outback forum, there are still a lot of people that would very much appreciate those coupons!

can you please call it in to us? Please let the Rep. know that I'd like to see the case. We'll call your dealer and see if there is something we can do for you. I can't promise you anything specific, but I can promise that we can try to do something.

Once again - sorry about the problem.

Keep in mind the Subaru boxer has twice as many heads as the Neon's in-line 4. So it should cost at least double, plus access is a lot harder, so more than double if both head gaskets need replacing.

You can cut the price in half by owning a Neon but there is one very serious problem with that - you'd have to own a Neon. ;-)

you can cut the price to about $150 in parts-- head gaskets, coolant, oil-- if you can do it yourself.

but believe me, having spent many hours doing just that, there's a pretty good reason the job bills out at $1200-1500.

I think the original poster said $2000. that's overcharging for just replacing head gaskets.

Any thoughts on availability of mud guards for the Legacy?

Six weeks, and I'm very happy with how it's going. Thanks again...

Does anyone have a maintenance coupon they are not going to use? Took delivery of my 05 2.5i LTD on July 12 but haven't been able to procure a coupon from my dealer or 800-subaru3.

    Thanks

I got my coupons today. Oddly, there were only coupons for the 15000, 22500, and 30000 mile services. I was also expecting coupons for the 3000 and 7500 mile services.

but it helped generate an OBW sale right here in my office!

So now the question for Patti... How many of these helped sell a vehicle, how many were gravy for buyers that were going to purchase anyway, and (unfortunately), how may buyers will be disappointed after the fact that they could not get their hands on one?

Bottom line - even the greatest of promotions will have a dark side....

when they mailed them out, i bet subaru never envisioned this kind of 'coupon swap' in an internet community
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Ken used mine, great offer for those that cashed in. Free maintenance on a brand new model? Count your blessings.

If we were thinking of a late September or early October tour, shouldn't the planning things get started now?

I have a feeling at this stage of the game, things may have to be put on hold. I still would love to go, so maybe we can pick a date next year?

Mike- how about making the next 48hrs include going to Indiana?

    Mark
  • hypovhypov Member Posts: 3,068
    via Canada ;-)

... which reminds me to get my passport. Don't want to get detained again.

Now that would be a nice trip! We can even get an iternational cast in there.

    Mark
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
That's a good idea, actually. I can't promise I'd be there for the full 48 hour drive, but I would try to meet up for one leg of the trip (east coast to Indy).

    Juice-
Even though it is called the 48hrs, we are a little more sane at this time and give ourselves 3 or 4 days now. Call it a long weekend, just making sure we "hit" SIA on a Saturday if they are open, or else Friday.
Last year we came closer to your neck of the woods by dipping into Delaware.

    Hi,
I'm newly registered here, glad to be a part of so well run/informed forum community.
I've been scanning these forums for some months now and learning all kinds of valuable info about Subarus. Two weeks ago I finally got tired of waiting for my Legacy GT 5MT order and bought one off the lot 900 miles away from home in PA and drove it back to Chicago. So yes, if there is anyone of you good folks still out there with a free maintenance coupon you don't know what to do with, I would certainly jump at the chance to put it to good use.
    Regards,
    vroomski in Chicago

    Hmmmm....

This could be big! Let's get the ball rolling on this. We could make it start in NJ and head out through PA directly to Niagara Falls on the first night, then out to Detroit via Canada and down to SIA and back via WV/PA/OH. Thoughts???

  • ladywclassladywclass Member Posts: 1,713
I don't have a coupon ... but I was IN Chicago about 3 times within the past 2 weeks ... maybe you were one of the people with whom I was "speeding" along in one of the construction zones at about ... um ... 1 mph ...
  • subearusubearu Member Posts: 3,613
I certainly could catch the tail of the entourage heading down from Michigan to Lafayette. I gather you'd be taking the same route south once in Indiana to SIA.

  • hammerheadhammerhead Member Posts: 907
I have a coupon. It's yours if you want it. E-mail me at my address in my profile (just click on my username - it's there. Let me know you're mailing address & I'll ship it off to you forthwith.

Glad it's not going to waste!

    Cheers!

    Paul,
    You have mail!

I was just in Washington state last week, Bellingham/Sumas area. What a beautiful place! I loved the drive to and the hike up Mt. Baker. Nothing else even comes close near to where I live.

ladywclass - There's nothing else like a summer on Chicago's freeways - although Seattle is not far behind by my gage - that's why I stay away from interstates around the city whenever possible. It's safer that way for all drivers.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
mike - if I drive it, I'd want to take as direct a route as possible, for my family that's a long trip.

But we could meet up for part of the drive, or drive back, something like that.

If the family can't go I may just fly out to Indy or something. For me the issue is time away from the family.

    Mike-

You know my answer- what time do we start? It's been quite a while since I have gone on a "little" drive. According to Mapquest it is only 9 1/4 hours from Niagara Falls to Lafayette.

Since it is just me and the wife, it's a lot easier for me to get away.

Maybe we could get someone from SOA to tag along in the new Tribeca?

    re chicago freeways ...

if you have an alternative route to getting in and out from indiana ... i NEED IT!!!
  • subaru_teamsubaru_team Member Posts: 1,676
was looking? Please post if not. I can check it out for you. No - we do not have any more at the office, but - - never say never to the Edmunds folks. I can check it out for you. Please post here vs. sending an e-mail to Subaru. I think the influx when this first happened might have caused some issues. (note - if you are leasing, you do not need a coupon to get this - it's part of the package through our leasing group - not necessarily outside leases).

if you want to give this another crack, let me know. I will obtain a firm promise from SIA before we lock on a date and post a contact point. Also, I'll see if I can get someone at work with connections at the plant to coordinate the trip. Let me know?

Well maybe you can answer a question for me -- I got my coupons, but they are for the 15000, 22500, and 30000 mile services only. I was expecting coupons for 3000 and 7500 mile services as well and was confused when I only got three coupons in the book. Just wondering what is supposed to be included in the coupon book.

    thanks,

I just need enough advance warning in case I need to take the Friday off and let the b/f make sure he can be off from work if it's a Thursday night that he works ...
  • hypovhypov Member Posts: 3,068
    This is sad.

They're getting stolen left and right in NJ without any end in sight.

Last 48 hrs., at least half a dozen are known stolen and used to carry out additional felony(ies). This is not sitting well for the owners and as owners of the WRX, not to mention repercussion on insurance premium.

Is there anything SoA could do? This cancer is tainting the product. Granted, there are owners that aren't exactly giving the WRX a good name, but we don't need these cancer that's stealing and using them in a felony.

Craig- I spoke with Subaru and they told me the maintenance plan would not have the 3000 mi coupons, but I did get the 7500 mi coupons. Maybe if you give them a call they can send you the rest.

    Patti,

I've heard about these coupons. Where can I get them?

One relatively cheap thing SOA could do is make the Engine Immobilizer standard, like it is on the STI. It really makes a car difficult to steal for driving, though not for parts.

It sure helped Honda, it has the Engine Immobilizer in most models now and has dropped from top spots of most-stolen cars.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Dave: good news is there is a fix.

It's very high-tech, safe, secure, proven, and even fun.

    It's called Forester. ;-)
