    Is this a good lease? I just went in there right after entering a chrysler dealership (lookin at the 300). The 300 touring (not the 300c) was 24k msrp and they wanted 4,000 down with 400 a month (before taxes) for a 3 year lease... so i go into Mercedes, not even sure of buying, but just to see what the e-320 would give on a lease...


    when he gave me that price, i figured.. if the 300c is askin for that much at 24k, a 55k benz is worth it..


    I used to drive an 99 e-430, so there is now two E-classes in the family... which is my only regret.

    I own a 03 c class and had a lot of problems im looking to trade for a e class this is in northern jersey, would like to hear from people around three state area what price thay got from there dealers.

  • Would have gladly sold my 1999 e-430 (black on black, disc changer, moon roof, premium rims, that package that has leather on the sides of the doors) for 24,000. It has about 90k miles on it. Always been serviced at Benz Dealerships, purrs like a kittin. litterly, i love the way that engine is so quiet and smooth.

    FWIW: I was shopping for an E320 and while I really enjoyed the car (especially the interior!), in the end I just couldn't justify the $15k+ price over the Acura TL I did buy.


    But, my father in Boca Raton, FL called to say a dealer down there was offering an '05 E320 for ~$46k. He wasn't sure what, if any, options that included...


    As there's (or was, last I checked) $3500 factory money, one should be able to do even better?

    '13 Jaguar XF, possibly my favorite of all the cars I've owned. But, my '09 Jag XK was a beauty, as was my '05 Acura TL, '88 Acura Integra, '84 Mitsubishi Mirage Turbo & '78 VW Scirocco (my first!). And, of course, the '92 Nissan Sentra SE-R and '95 Saab 900s I bought for the ex... Ok, I like a lot of the cars in my life.

  • Anybody have any information on invoice price on the new MB CLS500 Coupe? For a new model like this in such high demand, is negotiation on price possible?

    51K miles, Desert Silver, beige interior. Offered at $23.9K. Probably a chance to go lower.


    I'd been scouring the earth for a 540iT but decided I needed AWD.


    Pricing seem solid. Thoughts? Getting it at or below wholesale due to Jan doldrums and need to move SLOB inventory (non MB dealer).

  • Invoice on the CLS500 is 6 to 7% off MSRP. Maybe if you give it time until supply exceeds demand, you might get a discount. In the mean time, let the dealer make his 6-7%, but don't pay crazy markups over MSRP!

    or, check with your local MB dealer - looks like they have 3000-3,5000 incentive from MB on 2005 models, not 2006.

    10K off sticker price. The car had 75 miles on it after I test drove. Personally I think I could have done 11K off if I insisted.

    The 05 320 4matic wagon with premium package and heating package. Roughly 10K off sticker. The final price before tax is $49500.

    I believe you can get 11K off at least if the dealer has the car you want. I was offered by a dealer 10K off but he needed to get the car from another dealer. And that car had 140miles on it. So I looked around further and found one. Somehow I managed to forget the fact that the dealer had the car in their stock (and could thus reduce the price more). So I'd say you can ask for 11K off, or even 12K. For me, to get 10K off was really easy -- there wasn't any tough negotiation involved. Everything indicated there is still some room. I'm at the bay area, CA.

    However I'm not very sure how much that 75mile is worth. Does it count as a test car?

    Looking for purchase and lease pricing on a certified pre-owned E-320 4MATIC AWD sedan in the NY/Tri-State area. I've seen several on the MB website and it seems like the internet posted pricing is around $30-35,000 for vehicles with approximately 25-40,000 miles. I'm sure I can negotiate better pricing, but wanted to see if anyone had purchased a similar car recently. Thanks!
  • Jump over to the Smart Shopper forum, and re-post under "Real World Trade In Values", Terry, the main expert, visits about 15 auctions a month, and can give you a great idea of bottom line dealer retail. Be sure to specify if you have a color preference, as dark cars command higher prices up north than some light ones.

    I took delivery of my 2006 E350 on March 20, 2005. Mostly due to a high level MB coporate referral/contact I was able to get below MSRP. That said, if you look at, at least in the SF Bay Area, they quote a very good price, well below MSRP!

    Thanks for the help. Unfortunately I haven't heard anything back yet. I'll continue to explore the recommended path, but any other information would be appreciated. In regards to color I'm looking for Brilliant Silver.
  • I've been watching the other forum, and Terry's been gone more than usual. He was on vacation two weeks ago, and he runs several new car dealerships in addition to his auction visits, so I'm guessing he's backed up. That said, I've been following that discussion for over three years, and his advice has been invaluable to me and countless others.

    Go ahead and put in a subject line "Re-Post, CPO E-320 4Matic, Silver" and then cut and paste your original message below. Don't refer to a previous post by number. There's been too much clutter over there lately, and he probably missed your first post. He generally looks for recent messages that say "re-post" first, and he usually spends most of his on-line time between 5 and 7 am.

    Given the horrendous and appalling litany of serious and pervasive mechanical problems with recent model year Mercedes Benz E class sedans -- revealed here in the Edmunds forums as well as those in Yahoo Auto Forums and elsewhere (see the Edmunds topic thread on the subject of E Class Problems and Solutions, for example) -- if I do decide to make an offer on the 2006 E it will be below invoice. What money I would potentially save would be put toward buying at least 2 or 3 years of an extended warranty.

    How Mercedes can offer this car with only a standard 4yr/50,000 warranty in the wake of such serious electronic malfunctions and mechanical failures is beyond me. It seems to me that Mercedes Benz management, like the Detroit of the 1970s, is still clinging to the (false) notion that they are still royalty. The recently announced massive recall, affecting over 1 million cars, at an estimated expense well in excess of $100,000,000 is testament to the fact that the "Emperor" (Mercedes Benz) of today has no clothes.

    It is time for Mercedes to put their money where there mouth is and put up a warranty that tells the world in deeds and not just hollow words, that the quality is really back in the new Mercedes cars.

    No. There is virtually always dealer holdback of some kind or another. They may use a different name for it at MB, but it's there. Both Edmunds and Consumer Reports offer, for a small fee, a complete breakdown of the cars true cost. I particularly like the CR report.

    Try contacting the Internet Manager at several area dealers. I have already been quoted well below MSRP (several thousand) for the new E350 here in Southern California. Granted, the car just came out last month and so dealers may be holding out for more profit for a while, but given MBs dismal, steadily declining reliabity and sinking resale values, I think that an aggressive buyer can purchase at or near invoice, if you are willing to do the legwork (contacting 4 or 5 dealers via Edmunds Car Shopping Service, or contacting them direct via e-mail).

    legendman, i believe there is no way for edmunds or consumer reports to know the "true cost" of the car from the factory to the MBenz dealer. such cost is determined by a *private contract* between the dealerships and the manufacturer. it's nobody else's business. high-volume dealerships pay less for the same car than do low-volume dealerships. the price actually paid by the dealership for the new car is sometimes known as the "dealer memo price". my understanding is that it is always less than or equal to the invoice price. if i'm wrong about any of these things, please do tell! maybe Benz is different than 'typical' car dealers with regard to these things?

    someone hit me on the head with a large foam mallet please: my Y2K E320 was the least reliable car i've ever owned but i miss it so much and am considering purchasing an E320 CDI, maybe starmarked/pre-owned, maybe waiting for the new 3.5 liter "next-gen" CDI. i paid MSRP-500 for my Y2K E320. if i buy new again, i sure won't pay near MSRP again, and will probably buy a very-extended-warranty. the local dealership is a stickler for MSRP though, they seem fine with inventorying their new Benzes cars until they sell for MSRP. last time i did a "factory order" - so they didn't have to inventory the car at all - and they only cut $500 off the price. (by "inventory" the car i mean hold/own it from one month to another).

    Used info on this website and was able to get 10K off of msrp, paying 46,500, plus tax, at East Bay Area dealership.

    Question ---> I just ordered a new 2006 E350 4MATIC in NY. Got 7% off MSRP. Spoke to another dealer and he offered 6%. Any thoughts if this is a good deal or not? It appears good, but I don't want to fool myself into thinking so....

    Based upon my recent transaction in the SF Bay Area, you did extremely well. I didn't do bad, but your deal looks better. From the cost information that is out there, I would say that you are paying the Manufacturer's Invoice without any advertising fee, or even slightly below. The selling dealer is clearly making their money in the Holdback and their overall incentive on the total number of cars sold. Congratulations.
