New car pricing can be found @Edmunds, @nada , @Kbb.com

I use the web site nada I find it to be the easiest to find pricing

    Thank you brian125!

The tax in my state is 7%, so how to calculate a good price range to buy the car using the invoice price 25683?

here is a model of otd pricing for you. Use this format for otd pricing.

Invoice price =25,683 minus your target price 2k / 1500 below invoice =.... then add your states tax. add dealers doc fee charge.?. add your states dmv fee? this should be very close to the otd price.

    Thank you brian125.

Finally got a deal that I think it's pretty good: 2014 CRV EX AWD

    sale price $21388
    destination $798
    tax(9.5% in IL) $xxxx
    add $166 and $25
    The OTD is $24730.

I didn't get very detailed price cuz I was told by phone...I am not an US citizen so it's kind of hard to negotiate..
    Anyway, what do you think?

    Chloee20100,

    My first question?

If you have a lot of money.............. I will marry you. I always wanted a new CRV.

If not................................................... I will help you with this car deal???

While your deciding if I'm crazy or not I will look into your numbers.

    chloee20100 ,

Invoice on your vehicle EX AWD model = 24,853 excluding the 830 destination fee.. A sale price of 21,388 would put you at 3465 below dealers invoice. There is a mistake in pricing somewhere. I suggest you go over your numbers and exact model again with the dealer.

No dealership is going to let go a new 2014 model for this price.

    Hi,
Here is the current deal I am trying to decide on??

    2014 CRV EX AWD

    27,300 List price

    25200 - 11500 Trade (2008 Silver CRV with 79500 miles)

    Should I go for it?

Do you know the invoice price?

Just curious but does your dealer have a lot of inventory left?
  • chloee20100chloee20100 Member Posts: 6
Yes they made a mistake. The car price should be 23345 and the OTD is 26883...

    Got another deal:
    car price 23883
    OTD 25983
Although the car price is a little higher, the OTD is lower than before! I think I will go for this one.

    @brian125‌

I was curious as to your thoughts on the below post 1st paragraph I had asked a couple days ago.

I am going to see the dealer on Monday or Tuesday (end of month and also discontinuation of 2014 model). I told them $31K over email and they said only way to get best lowest deal is to come in person. I mentioned my target price of $30K. Do you think they will do it for $30K or how close you think they will come based on your pricing structures and knowledge etc?

As a reminder, this is what I was quoted below. You did say that dealer should knock off another $500 for added accessories. I am in DC metro:

From a previous post - I have been quoted the below offer for a 2014 Honda CRV EXL AWD Navi.
I told the dealer honestly that I have been quoted a deal for $31912 from another dealer and they asked if I will take the below deal they initially quoted for $33222.98 for $31812. I am in DC metro

    $26,998 for vehicle
    inc Wheel Locks
    inc Mud Guards
    inc Cargo Tray
    $320 Cross Bars
    $248 Bike Attachment
    $628 Running Boards
    $285 Body side molding
    $155 All Season Floor Mats
    $503 Auto Dimming Mirror
    $855 Remote Engine Start
    $680 Back-Up Sensors
    $300 processing fee
    $830 destination
    $1287.98 tax
    $133 tags
$33,222.98 total out the door (will be $31812)

    thanks

I know this sounds like a brush off. But I really don't know what you could get?? getting a better deal will require you to negotiate these items down. you have no other dealers competing for the same vehicle. most dealers don't want to be bothered with all these add on's and accommodate your price. your best action is to draw a line in the sand. Stand firm on your price. You might need to walk out of dealership and leave then let dealer chase you for the sale. Maybe raise your offer meet dealer half way.

My last post showed you price difference in accessories.

Hey. Thanks. Not a brush off. I appreciate the honesty.
Gonna see what happens on Monday and Tuesday. I know dealers want to get numbers up now because it is end of the month, end of the 3rd quarter and end of 2014 model
  • brian125brian125 Member Posts: 5,244
Yes very good point.... This is the end of the 3rd quarter for all car companies. Good things happen at the very end for those who stick it out.

To Stever, I didn't know if that comment was for me. If so, I only know the 27,300 price. Isn't that the invoice price? And they have some inventory...not every color and style, but a fair number.
  • mbwmbwmbwmbw Member Posts: 4
I found this on Edmunds for my zip code

    Invoice 25,684
    MSRP 27,300
    Avg paid, 25, 423

@mbwmbw, yes, you need to negotiate the selling price. You don't want to buy based on MSRP. Getting the invoice number gives you a starting point for negotiation, although plenty of people start below invoice.

Your $25,200 price is "average". That's fine and the dealer will probably work with you quickly to make it work. If you have time to work and grind, you should be able to beat it. Buying by Tuesday means you may need to email and call some other dealers today and tomorrow.

    Hello,

New car buyer here (never bought one on my own before!) I'm in the Dallas area, looking for a 2014 CRV EX-L. Of course, always irked by the "add-ons" that they like to ding you with. Was offered a $26,000 + TTL price for EX-L, but it's only the beginning of my search. I'm sure I can do better, and I'm happy to pit multiple dealers against one another.

I'd just like to know what's a good price to shoot for on the EX-L? It's so difficult to figure out what's reasonable versus unreasonable. I'm going to pay cash so no financing, no trade-in. And also, should I wait until November? We don't need a new car ASAP, but trying to figure out best time to buy. Thanks for any input!

That's a "good" price for a AWD EX-L. Not so good if you are getting a FWD one (I'm seeing a $25,498 Price Promise number for a FWD EX-L for a CA zip). You can go to the Make Model dropdown boxes up top and plug in your zip code and we'll tell you invoice prices. Aim for ~$1,500 below that for starters and creep up as you have to.

More 2015 CR-V details will be released tomorrow (9/30), and they will go on sale October 1. It's hard to say how good the supply of the 2014's will be through November.

If you're flexible and in no rush, I'd hang out and watch 2015 prices for a few weeks (you can also watch inventory when you check prices by clicking the Find Cars For Sale link). You may decide the savings on a 2014 don't outweigh the new features the 2015s will have.

    @torchness,
I bought a 2014 CR-V EX-L FWD With Navigation in Dallas area (I can give the dealership name, but not sure if it's okay with mods). My Price before TTL was $26,500. I bought in March 2014, so if you are targeting a 2014 model, you should get a better deal.

There were few dealer options already installed:
    pin stripes
    Mud guards
    Cargo tray
I bought body side moldings from CollegeHillsHonda and installed them myself(very easy).

Now I feel Navigation was totally unnecessary, but I wanted to see the rear-camera in the navigation screen.
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
Thanks @cutterbob. Dealer names are fine, and giving first names of salespeople is fine too.
  • torchnesstorchness Member Posts: 5
@cutterbob‌, that's a very good price, thanks for your input. What dealership was that? Since I'm not getting navigation then I should be able to get maybe $1000 less, don't you think?
  • torchnesstorchness Member Posts: 5
@stever I did the price promise just now for an EX-L with FWD and got $26,231, the cheapest of 4 offers... this is a large difference from California, which seems odd.

Dealership was "David McDavid Honda Frisco" and sales person was Shahrouz, Internet sales manager was Pooya.

Good day. Well, I sent out the emails to 9 dealerships in the area. I have heard from 5 of them. I inquired about an AWD EXL no DVD or NAV in the westchester area. I asked for 26564.00 before TTL but including destination.
Morehead honda - 26982.00 accessories at dealer cost
    brewster honda - $27064.00
Tarrytown honda - spoke on phone said they would get back to me.
White Plains - we are aggressively pricing - have a meet it or beat it policy - will get back to me with price
Friendly Honda - said best price over the phone would be $26850.00 and that if I wanted to negotiate more I would need to come into the showroom.
DCH honda of Nanuet - $26899.00 accessories at dealer cost

One more day. I am hoping to go down a bit more.

Any advice on how long to wait tomorrow?

You could secure any deal via phone with a credit card deposit tonight or tomorrow. Make your final pitch tomorrow afternoon if a dealer wont meet your price tonight. Your doing good make it work for you.

I would call friendly Honda's internet manager right now and let him/ her know you will leave a credit card deposit for xxx price for the sale right this minute. tell them this is the same price white plains will meet . Ask them if they want the sale tonight. Then leave your number and play it out.

Do the same to White plains Honda . Call both tonight. Pit one dealer against the next. let each dealer know who there competition is and the price. . This is how you play hard ball with these dealerships.

    good luck

Should I start calling the dealers that I did not hear from tonight or wait until tomorrow? I am debating if I should head to work or not tomorrow.

call every one tonight with your price for the sale tonight. Pit white plains Honda against friendly's. The other dealers that wont match or make a pitch remove off your list. make the best deal out of who ever is bidding for your business.

@torchness, there can be a good bit of variation around the country. SoCal is supposedly a hotter market for Japanese cars so there's probably more sales and faster turnover. Big D is probably a better place to buy a truck but I don't know. With all the dealers you have there I would have assumed more competitive pricing.
  • mdunne70mdunne70 Member Posts: 23
Forget White Plains Honda - NY. No quote via the phone or email. Just a run around about how they do not take you seriously if you do not come in and that there are so many details that will change the price of the car. Yuck!!!

Just bought a CRV LX AWD in Kona Coffee! How did I do?

    Selling Price: 20,859
    Dest Charge: 830
    Dealer Fee: 298
    MA Sales Tax: 1,374.19
    Title and Plates: 140
Total Out of the Door: $23,501.19. Got that cool 0.9% financing too!
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
Your price is well below average. Cool beans (Scotty or Kona or otherwise. :) )
  • scottybeansscottybeans Member Posts: 5
Nice! Yeah it definitely seemed like a good price so I jumped on it. They must have been making space for the 2015 models coming in
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
That, and it's the end of the month and end of the quarter. Could be they needed to make another sale or two to earn some bonus money as well. Congrats on the new CR-V!
  • scottybeansscottybeans Member Posts: 5
Thanks! Feels good. I actually made the deal on the 24th, but didn't find this forum until today. Still the end of the quarter so perhaps they needed to move a few vehicles anyways.

That's even better - can you share what dealer you dealt with?

    And welcome!
  • scottybeansscottybeans Member Posts: 5
Yep! I got it through Honda Cars of Boston in Everett, MA. I went through truecar.com initially and they sent me an even lower price that truecar had sent! I went down, took a test drive and bought it.

I am looking at a 2014 CR-V AWD EX in Minnesota. I was quoted a price of $24,620 (including the delivery fee). I had chatted with all of the dealers in the Twin Cities and they were all within a few hundred of each other. From what I've read that is only $1,000 below invoice and not a great deal. I also not seeing anything about a $750 rebate for financing. Is my area just high for prices or am I missing something? Thanks in advance.
  • gooddealorno1gooddealorno1 Member Posts: 5
Live in the MD/VA area. Negotiated at the end of the month. Brian125, you appear to be the forum expert...what do you think of the deal I got? 2014 CRV EX AWD: 23,499 final price + a year of service (oil changes, etc.); car comes with wheel locks. Other comments welcome too.

  • gooddealorno1gooddealorno1 Member Posts: 5
22,960 before taxes and fees; MSRP is 26,470; Invoice is $24,854.

    gooddealorno1

    2014 Ex awd model invoice = 24,854 plus 830 dest charge = 25,684.

Minus the dealers doc fee charge off your 1894 below invoice price number and that is your actual buying number. Good luck....................... enjoy your CRV

Brian--a little confused by your last post. I ended up paying 23,499, which included the 500 off incentive deal). How good or bad of a price would you estimate that to be for the EX AWD?
