Sales Price - 40850 (doesn't include any incentive)

36 mos/12K in South FL (assuming top tier credit). Assuming I come out of pocket for inception costs (title. tags. etc.), I am coming up with a payment around $415 (+tax). The price I am getting quoted is $450/month. It's very possible that I am calculating things wrong.

Moderator - Quick clarification question. It seems that TMV is coming in at 5% less than MSRP. Easy math is on a 50K car the sell price is 47,500. If we make the assumption that is the initial cap cost do you reduce it further to $46,000 for the $1,500 lease cash? Thanks in advance.

TMV is an average; ideally, you'd negotiate a price lower than that. 

Then yes, deduct the lease cash from that price.

36 months is the best term.. the best mileage allowance is always the one that matches your mileage needs. Where are you going to license the vehicle? Given the vast difference in taxes between those two states, I'd want to lease it where I register it.

I was going to use that to start negotiating with other dealers as well. Is that a great price in general or can I do better? Also is there anything else you suggest I look out for as far as numbers?

If you are registering the car in GA, they tax the full selling price of the car, not the lease payment.

Base MF this month for the RX is .00070, so one dealer is marking up the MF on you.

36/15 residual is 58%; getting fewer miles is OK so long as you don't need them. Saving money on the monthly payment only to give it back at the end of the lease because you drove too much doesn't make much sense.

Never hurts to get multiple dealers involved. Tell them you want the base MF; they know what the rate is. 

GA applies sales tax to the entire price of the car. Makes leases more expensive there

But they quote higher because most of the people only qualify for tier 2.
How do they calculate what tiers based on Credit and what are the rates per tier currently.
Since they tax off the whole car in GA I'm thinking of just buying in cleveland Ohio much more selection for awd cars there as well. What are the residuals for 10 12 and 15k up there? As well as the mf rates? Thanks

Holy Cow!! That's a big spread on payments between single-pay and monthly. Frankly, it makes no sense. However, if it works out, grab that single-pay option. Make sure it's a true lease and not some balloon payment program. Because, that's cheap!! Almost makes me think they forgot the tax on the single-pay quote.

We were going to pay drive offs of tax (they are total lease amt up front), tags, registration and bank fee for a total of $2,485 with a payment of $423 including tax, but decided to roll everything in and just drive off with $0 because the MF works out to 1.7% interest rate.

Payment $494 for 35 more months, zero drive off.
Comparing without tax would be $35 less or $459 a month.

First Lexus for us, we'll see how it goes....

Actually they are paying the tax for the single pay option.. That explains $75 of the difference .  Also with single pay the MF is 0.00001.. I.e pretty much no interest..

Odd that they would pay the tax on a lease. They'd have to be reducing your cap cost, as state taxes don't change.

For the one pay option it should reduce the payment about 40 per month. Depends if you can make more than 4% on the money you're giving them up front ($13,919). Also, it doesn't save you as much because the MF is already so low at 0.0007.
