Not sure if it's a good lease deal. We need to know the MSRP, selling price, money factor plus the residual.

I have a question on an advertised leasing special that is running in IL for a 2015 RX 350.

Here are the details: $399/36 mnths, $1699 due at signing, Complimentary First Month Payment, 10K mile/year limit. I am guessing this is based on the base model.

Based on some initial research, I am finding a RX 350 2WD quoted at 39,857, Residual Value for 36 mnths 55%, and MF of .002992.

Would really appreciate any feedback if this is a good deal and what I can negotiate on these type of advertised offers.

    Thanks,
    Steven

Where are you finding these rates? If I can get these rates, do you think it is a good deal?

Was that 466 with or without tax included. Assuming you rolled in the bank fee and incidental fees I get around $429 including 6% sales tax. Did you roll anything else into your lease?\
Also my understanding is to never pre-pay because if your car is totaled or stolen you don't get that back.

Lease terms in IL are much different than for the rest of the country. Until the end of the year, IL charges sales tax against the entire selling price of the car on a lease. The lower MF is meant to offset that penalty.

466 is including all taxes and fees added.
since I had the cash, I paid it. Any idea if you tottal the car or it is stolen, how to insure it?
and what about the sale price, do you think it is good price?

466 is with tax and all fees included with 0 down. I had the cash and paid it. I guess when the car is totaled, it will be paid as per the depreciation.
any ideas on how to protect it?

Well Lexus leases already have gap insurance to cover the difference between what the lease obligation is and what your insurance pays. But if you pay in advance or put more money down - you don't get that back as far as I know. Don't think there is insurance to cover that.

With your MSRP and sale price, along with the base MF of .00090 and residual of 62%, I get a pre-tax payment of $432.25; with 6.25% tax, $459.27.

What state is this? Some states tax the entire sales price for a lease.

Texas taxes the full selling price... so $42,500 X 6.25% = $2656. About $75/mo. added for tax..

Hi kyfdx, do you have number for So. Cal at 12k/ 24/27/36 months? I have no idea if there's a sweet spot this month. Do AWD or packages make a difference?

    .00090 MF and 70%/68%/60% residual.
$1000 lease cash. Complimentary 1st payment (up to $700)

36 months will most likely be cheaper, unless you get a big discount, upfront..

What's the MF and residual on an RX350 in Texas? Tier 1+ credit. 36 months/30,000 miles. I've also heard/read about $1000 lease cash and comp 1st month payment. True? Usually I'm able to negotiate sales tax credits so that's not an issue.

Yes I got $421 on my calculation too. The sales guy came back and say that $419 includes tax. I mean, I'm happy it's lower just doesn't add up. Is it a good deal?

Would extending the term to 36 months decrease the residual?

Hi Guys, I received two very different offers. Because the rates are very different.

One guy gave me a 33 month lease, i can't even find mf/resid on a 33 month program
    1500 out of pocket
    51K Sticker
Don't know the sales price but includes, premium, navi, cross bars, comfort packages, intuitive park assist.

    Total payment: 499 a month

and the second i got from another dealer for 36 months
    MSRP 50,659
    Price 46,485.95
    Adjusted cap cost 48,228.77
    cash cap cost reduction 1000

    residual 61%
    Rate 0.00150
    DriveOff Amount 1831.25

    Total Monthly payment 600

I am of course going to go for the 33 month deal, but i am wondering where are they screwing me? I am assuming it's in the Adjusted cap cost price, why did it go up? Shouldn't it go down if i'm paying 1831.25 out of pocket?

33/15 residual is 61%; MF stays the same at .00090.

We'd need to know the sales price to model the payment.

For deal 2, the MF is marked up quite a bit (unless you don't have tier 1+ credit), so even with the $1000 cap reduction, that is increasing your payment.

I will get more details on the first deal and will post the results. It is based of of 10K miles btw.

I called the dealer that gave me the second quote and i told him that the money factor seems high and if he can recheck his quote. SO he tells me and I quote: "Ughh listen what is the point of your call"
Me: I want you to recheck your numbers because you misquoted me
Him: "Sir if you believe i misquoted you then go someplace else"

i ended up going some place else. What an Idiot this would have been the third car i got from them

Wait a minute.. you have a dealer that acted like a jerk and tried to take advantage of you? Stop the presses!..

Sorry.. just a little light humor.. It never ceases to amaze me, what we have to put up with to spend a multiple thousands of dollars on a vehicle. Keep plugging away.. you'll find a decent deal and a decent dealer, eventually.

Mpls, Minnesota Dealer emailed me an offer. pretty sure the cap cost is too high and also??? not sure what some of these terms are.

    MSRP $47,739
    L.E.V. Rt/$$ 70.00% (is this resid?)
Initial cap cost $46,039 (way too high IMO)
Less: O-Rewards $2,379.00 (what is this?)
Less: Cash Cap $1821.45 (our money down???)
    Adjusted cap cost: $41,838.55
7,500 miles/year (more than enough for us)
27 months (kinda rather have 36 months)
    Total Tax $878.18
Money factor .00090 (this is correct from what I see)
First payment 12/21/14 (so getting the first payment free?)
    Monthly payment $379.62
    Up-front Lic/Doc $670.00
    Up-Front T/T/ACQ $750.75
Cust Cash Down: $4,500 (way more than we'd like)
memo: Cash & Sign $6,879.00 (way far more than we'd like)
memo: Cash & Drive $6,879.00 (way far more than we'd like)

So ask them to drop the cap cost? right now only like $1,700 off of MSRP. should be like $5,000 from what I'm seeing here.

    What else could get reduced?

And not sure why they did the monthly at $379.62. I told them to go off the national Lexus plan of $429/mo.

This is the advertised lease promo:
    2015RX350AWD
    $429mo.36mos.
    $2,799due at signing.
    Complimentary First Month's Payment**
Excludes official fees, taxes and dealer charges. No security deposit required. 10,000 mile/year limit.

+ "for Nov 21 & 22 - Lexus will match up to $1,000 of your down payment on all ES & RX models" (don't see where they have this)

LEV = Lease End Value. Yes, 70% is your residual
O-Rewards: No idea, but it looks like an additional discount or rebate.
Cash CAP: Looks like CAP cost reduction. Yes, your money down.
27 vs. 36 months? They won't care.. drops the residual to 62%. Will change the calculation.
    .00090 is the MF
    Complimentary 1st payment from Lexus

Cust cash down? Sign and Drive? That isn't really clear. How much are they asking for at lease inception? $4500? or, $6879?

The advertised deal includes a discount of about $3400 from MSRP. When you subtract the $2379 from the $46039, you get $43660, which is a little over $4000 off MSRP, in this case.

Looks like about $2200 in total fees/title/license/1st payment, etc.. Do they want that, plus $4500 down? That doesn't make a lot of sense, because if that were the case, you'd have a $4500 cap cost reduction, instead of $1821.45. Also, they give total tax, but isn't tax applied monthly in Minnesota (I'm not sure).

At the MSRP and NET CAP, the payment is correct..(still haven't accounted for tax, though) All else being equal, going to 36 months would raise the payment by $25/mo., but that's only because of the large amount of money being paid upfront. If that was all rolled into the payment and amortized, the 36 month term will probably be cheaper.

I haven't seen the matching down payment deal, but if that's an actual increase in incentives, I would certainly take advantage of it..

If you can clarify the tax, and how much money you have to bring to signing, I could give a better opinion.

The tax used to be added into the monthly payment years ago. when leasing our 2008 Acura TL we learned MN changed it to pay the tax upfront.

I emailed sales person back asking about the other things you asked - which was what I was wondering about. nothing adds up. how much total due at signing, how much is "money down" (aka cap cost reduction).

Per the Lexus lease for our area, we are due: (I'll paste the lease program at the end of this)
    Complimentary first payment,
Lexus matching up to $1,000 of your down payment on all ES & RX Models today only (was Nov 21 & 22)

We'd rather have a 36 month lease than 27. We are fine with 7,500 mile or less as we do not drive a lot. probably under 5,000 miles year. but only if it saves us anything. if not we'd like the higher milage option in case we need them.

LEASE PROGRAM LISTED ON WEBSITE FOR OUR AREA
    2015 RX 350 AWD
    $429 mo. 36 mos.
    $2,799 due at signing.
    Complimentary First Month’s Payment**
Excludes official fees, taxes and dealer charges. No security deposit required. 10,000 mile/year limit.

*Available on approved credit to very well qualified customers through Lexus Financial Services and participating Lexus dealers on a new 2015 RX 350 AWD. Not all customers will qualify. Offer based on MSRP of $47,270 including delivery, processing and handling. Monthly payment may vary depending on final price of vehicle and your qualifications. You pay $0.25 per mile over 10,000 per year. See dealer for vehicle and lease program details. Must take delivery by 1/5/2015. This offer is available in NE, KS, MN, IA, WI, IL, IN, MO, KY, MI, OH.

**Complimentary first month’s lease payment up to $700, valid on new 2015 RX 350 AWD leases up to 48 months. Qualifying customers will receive a
credit equal to the lesser of $700 or their first month’s lease payment (the ”Maximum Credit”). The Maximum Credit will be applied first towards the amount due at lease signing with any remainder applied towards cap cost reduction. Offer through a Lexus Dealer and Lexus Financial Services. If the first payment is more than $700, the customer is responsible for any amount over $700. See participating dealer for lease program details. Program not eligible with One-Pay leases. Offer ends 1/5/2015.

Also, they give total tax, but isn't tax applied monthly in Minnesota (I'm not sure).

    ok, heard more back:

the O-Rewards is: "1000 lease cash from Lexus plus 1000 extra for today deal and 1st payment that Lexus is waiving"

"$750 is acquision fee" - (from what I see that is supposed to be waved).

The payment is adjusted down due to your miles and extra money for today deal. (I asked why they changed it from $429 to $379.62)

    Total we collect is 4500.00.

There was about $1065 of dealer added options We did not want. Tow pkg, $330 for wood steering wheel , $225 matts $245 truck matts, etc. this was response:
"They all have tow prep and 100% have wood on steering wheel. We could pull all of the mats out however. With all due respect, are you able to come in and do this deal today? You lose the 1000.00 if not."
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,931
Okay... so, the extra $1000 was already in the deal..

Hard to tell if that's a Lexus incentive, or just a dealer come-on to create urgency. Either way, the discount is about $4000 from MSRP.. (maybe)

Acquisition fee isn't waived. Waiver is not part of the advertised deal, either..

You can do this deal with minimal upfront.. .1st payment and title/license fees...(let's say around $1200) Then roll the rest of it in..

So, add $3300 to the CAP cost ($1200 upfront, instead of $4500) ,and the 27 month payment goes to $555/mo.

Do the same deal for 36 months with a 60% residual, and the payment goes to $540/mo.

Sounds expensive, but the advertised deal was with $2800 due at signing, and didn't include tax, title, license or doc fees.. As you can see, those really add up.

thanks for the help, so far. no we didn't take the deal.
    1) we were hoping for $5,000 off instead of $4,000. reading here seems most getting about $5k off, and even a few $7k off MSRP.
    2) there was also about $1,065 of added items we didn't want. like the leather & wood steering wheel for $330??? what? & it's not heated for that price? what does the std steering wheel look like? can't be bad on a Lexus. plus $225 for floor mats that are like $85 on amazon? same for cargo mats for $245, and putting a $245 towing package that seems to be just a transmission cooler? etc. so we'll see.

Is this accurate? I'd love to go down and see about $5k off MSRP :)

Ok so this is what i just got

Dealer took my tradein also an RX with 2 months left on the lease at $600

New car leased 2015 rx 350awd

    MSRP 50703.00
    Agreed Price of vehicle $46145.68

    Gross Cap cost $47954.99
    cap cost reduction $1356.21
    Adjusted cap cost $46598.78

    Residual Value $16496.48

    Monthly price $499.89

    First payment includes
Amount due at lease signing 3049.89
    rebates 1499.00
    Cap Cost Reduction 1356.21
    Acquisition fee 700
    doc fee 399
    sales tax 94.79

Paid in cash at signing $1550.00

Please explain to me why do they expect the cap cost reduction to be due at signing? Is this arguable? Isn't it a "discount"?

Technically, the cap cost reduction is a down payment - in this case, the majority of it and the other up front fees are covered by the available incentives, which is why your out of pocket expense was only the $1550.

Hi There - I found this forum very useful when I leased my car. I'm in the process of leasing a car for my mom and wanted to run the numbers by the experts (you guys). The car is ~ 2015 RX350 AWD. Here are the specifics and I wanted to get your thoughts.
      • MSRP = 50,659 (RX350 AWD w/ Navigation)
      • MF = 0.00090
      • Residual = 61%
      • Mileage/yr = 10,000
      • Term = 36 months
      • Cap Cost Reduction = 3,172
      • Rebate = 1,487 ($1,000 "december to remember" offer + 1st month payment)
      • Doc fee = 329
      • Bank fee = 700
      • Aftersale = 974 (dealership will cover last 2 months of payments since our lease is up in Feb15')
      • Tax = 1,418
      • Motor Vehicle = 304
      • Monthly payment = $487
      • State = NJ

I'd appreciate any comments and thoughts on if this is a good deal. I think it it because I'll be getting the car below invoice.
