2015 Mazda CX-5 Lease Questions

    Hi All,

A few questions on how all of you are a) coming up with selling prices, b) factoring in lease cash or lease loyalty bonus into lease calculations.

For a), I historically used Edmunds TMV. Last lease and current wife’s lease negotiations get smirks from salesmen when I mention TrueCar numbers. I have a sneaking suspicion TrueCar numbers include all the rebates and bonuses. Where are you guys setting your selling price targets?

How are you factoring the $925 lease cash loyalty bonuses? Do you subtract them right off the cash due at drive off, or are you using them as cap reductions, or using them in your selling price target?

Last, I see on the Mazda web site that there is a $500 Mazda Owner Loyalty Bonus AND a $750 Mazda Capital Services Lease Loyalty. Have any of you successfully stacked them? Of course there is tons of ‘fine print’ saying you can’t combine with ‘other public purchase incentives including, but not limited to, customer cash back, lease and APR incentives/offers’.

    Thanks,
    Chris M

I know other people will suggest other ways of doing this, but you should have some idea of what you are wanting before you go in to the dealership. (I.E. 36m/12k) find out what the Tier 1+ MF is and the residual of the car you are wanting for that lease. Next calculate what your payment would be if you paid MSRP ( which you would never do) Then figure out how much of a discount it would take to get the monthly payment you desire. Then when you nego. tell them X is what I am willing to pay for the car by leasing through you with all fees and rebates wrapped into that price and 0 down. That way if they want to sell you the car and they have a lease rebate they can pass on to get you there, they more than likely will. (I dont really care how they do the rebates and fees as long as the car comes to the price I want it at... My deal: They passed on only 500 of the 925 rebate but they gave me the car for 500 under the employee price to get me to the price I wanted.) Then when they bring you a monthly payment for that price take a look at the MF and see if it is marked up. If it is.. say I like this price (if it is what you asked for) but can I get the MF I qualify for which is "X", thus reducing your payment to what you wanted it to be. If they say no then, thank them for their time and walk, I bet you dont make it to the door...If you do then try another dealership...
Otherwise you give them a monthly payment and they will try and give you only 10k miles or extend the lease out to 39 mo. so that you will take the deal. They will ask you what you want to pay per month almost always right off the bat.. I say I don't know, as low as possible... and then go back to talking about the car price...
Don't forget first months payment is due that day and will be included in the lease if you put 0 down so you may have to pay that to hit your monthly payment target...

Can I please get the MF and residual for a CX-5 Touring for 36 mos 12K per year for Rhode Island? Also, does Mazda do 10k per year leases? Any difference in MF and Residual?

    AWD?

    52% and .00034. Add 1% for 10K per year.
Thanks for the info! We are trying to get a FWD version if possible. Any difference in numbers?
Same MF, subtract 2% from residual.

I always know exactly what kind of lease I'm interested in as well as the MF and RV. I never go for a payment number. I just want to get the most bang for my buck and get a great deal. So it all comes down to the selling price. The question is how low to go with a defensible, rational number and stick to it. I usually go with Edmunds TMV. TrueCar numbers are usually lower. Anyone can calculate a lease payment with a spreadsheet or an iPhone app in seconds.

I know all about what is due when the lease is signed. I always pay taxes up front with 1st month and bank fee, period. Again, getting the selling price down to the bone is my objective.

The other question was how to account for lease cash and loyalty cash and the 'stackability' of the various Mazda loyalty offers. Do most of you count these as cap cost reduction, or subtract from cash due at signing?

Hi Everyone - I've started gathering quotes from different dealers and have one lease at $329 per month with all fees included $0 down and $24,187 for CX-5 Sport AWD in Mass. I also received a quote for $375 from same dealer for a $25,730 CX-5 Touring AWD. Any thoughts on if they are good deals? I don't know the residual or mf in Mass, but thought I'd share what I've gotten so far. Thanks!

I also wanted to add to the above lease quotes is that they are 36 months/15k leases.

What are the MSRP's for the two? We'll need that to model a payment.

    36/15 numbers: 51% and .00001
Hi - The MSRP's for the Sport AWD was $25,875 and the Touring AWD they said MSRP $27,370. Hope this helps. Thanks!

You can do either ... on my latest lease, I used the lease cash to offset the upfront fees. My only out of pocket was the first payment.

That makes sense as the $329 I was quotes includes fees. I believe $1411 which includes first month payment. They say if I pay the fees and first month th payment drops to $299.

MSRP of the touring is $26,215 or so Google says ;) Weird, true car says MSRP is 27,045 and Edmunds has even higher of 29,710. :(:(

I'm looking at Sport AWD model. I've gotten the price down to $311.44 a month with first month payment and $23,500 cap cost. I'd like to get it under $300 as Toyota is offering a great lease deal of $268/mo with first payment only.

wanted to ask your opinion. Got a lease quote of $344.00 for awd cx-5 grand touring 12k/36 months with $1,000 out of pocket, in NY. I talk to him, and can get the payment down to $340.00. When calculating the amount, it accounts for the lease cash, and about $500 off the MSRP of the car. Do you think this is a good deal, or do car dealerships discount the car more, and then take the lease cash off. I think it is a pretty good deal, but just want to make sure. Thanks

Don't negotiate a payment; rather, negotiate the best selling price before accounting for the lease cash. Then, ensure that the dealer isn't marking up the MF on you.

With that, you'll get the best lease payment.

I haven't been seeing large discounts from sticker on the CX-5, however. Use the pricing tools at the top of the page (make / model / year) to get a target price.

Hi. What would be the lease payment on a 2015 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring AWD with the following:

    $30105 MSRP
$27616 Sales Price (Includes $100 Geico Customer Savings, $500 Owners Loyality Cash)
    36 Months
    15,000 miles per year
    NJ

What are the MF and residual value from Mazda for January 2015? Are there any other lease incentives?

56% and .00001 MF. $1125 lease cash - not sure if your sales price includes that.

Just got a quote on '15 CX5 AWD Touring 36/12K
    MSRP 27100
    Sale 24856
    Residual 54% 14634
    MF .00051
    Payments 337 w/ 0 down or 275 w/ 2K down.
This quote includes all taxes and tags...and gap insurance.

I live in NJ but this dealer is actually in PA. Do these numbers look right? Think I could do better with a NJ dealer?

    Thanks in advance.

However, the base MF on the Touring AWD is .00001 for 36 months, so your dealer is marking it up for extra profit. Pre-tax payment drops to $284.34+tax with the base MF.

Hello, were looking to lease 2015 CX-5 Grand Touring. The MSRP is $30,050 and the negotiated sales price is $27,782. Using the MF and Residual provided for 36 mo/12k mi I get a lease payment of $300.42 before taxes and $331.77 after taxes. We are in NY and I believe the taxes are based on the sum of the lease payments plus any discounts. Im not entirely sure I calculated everything correctly because I feel that if I ask for this price at a dealer, they'll laugh me out of the showroom. Can you double check my math? Thanks!

    .00001 MF and 57% residual. $1125 lease cash. I get $296/mo.+tax..

I believe NYS tax is pretty much as you described.. The sum of payments plus any taxable amounts paid upfront, multiplied by the tax rate... Then, add that amount to the CAP cost.

You've given a negotiated sale price... Have you told them you want to lease, yet? Lease incentives may not be the same as purchase incentives.

I used the truecar and brought them the certificate. They said they could use it as the cap cost in the lease. That price probably included the lease cash discount. Maybe I am going about this wrong. I'm just trying to make it easy since it usually isn't.

No.. if they know you are leasing, then the numbers we've discussed should be good. I'll warn you that Mazda dealers are permitted to markup the money factor by .00050, and many of them do it.. But, if you get the base rates, your numbers are pretty good, I think.

    Hi,

Can I please get the 36/15 numbers (or any other sweet spot for Mazda leases) for the AWD Touring and Grand Touring in Colorado? Does adding the Tech package make a difference? Any lease incentives for January?

    Thanks!

Just got this quote from a dealer on a 2015 AWD Sport Cx5

    Something seems off about this.

I'm glad we had the chance to talk. I feel like we made some good progress towards getting you out of the FR-S.

The lease numbers we spoke about are as follows:

    Payoff/Trade Allowance - $22,000 (Actual Cash Value - $19,000)

Adjusted Sale Price - $28,625 ($3,000 added to cover negative equity)

    Cash Down - $4,000

    Rebate - $1,125

Payment AFTER TAX - $365.70 for 35 months

If you would like some real numbers, we can run a credit check and get the payoff from your bank.

You are paying $3000 to get out of your current car? Why not keep driving it?

Can you please tell me the MF and residual on a 2015 Grand Touring AWD, 36/12? I see in June 2014 it was .00001 and 61%, correct? Have those numbers changed? Thank you!

What would the least payment be on the 2015 Mazda CX5 GT AWD 36/12 in NJ if the final sales price is $26,347 ($27,472 - 1125 incentive)? Thank you.

If the $27,472 is the MSRP, then I calculate a pre-tax payment of $297.31/mo
