All Toyota dealers that we visited seemed less pushy than a couple of years ago. As with any car buying experience, it pays to do your homework. Edmunds was a big help. I would suggest going to the Toyota website and getting a list of the four basic option packages offered for the Sequoia. Plug each one into the Edmunds Pricing Report so you have an MSRP and invoice breakdown for each package. Keep each handy as your shopping around, making sure to keep track of the dealer added options. My advice-get the cargo net and floor mats at your neighborhood WalMart and pocket the difference.
I was quoted a price of $42,350.20, total. My husband went and picked it up while I was out of town. Now, I was told that this price included vehicle registration tags and when I get home I find out that my husband talked to the sales manager about how high the tags would be. Well, now I find out that they did not include the tag price in the sale and my husband went down and paid an extra $900 for the tags!
I am going to call them this morning and ask for that money back. We live in Mississippi. Any comments? or suggestions?
I'm not real happy about this!
By the way, husband picked me up in the new Sequoia, kids and I love it!

Often when we talk about out the door pricing around here, it doesn't include TTL (taxes, title and license), since it varies so much from state to state. Or people buy a SUV for an out the door price and have it shipped to them from out of state and they pay extra to register it, pay the taxes, get the tags, etc.

Thanks in advance
Thanks
Currently most have customer cash back of 1000 or a low % rate.
Loaded SR5 4x4, except the on-board PC, DVD and moonroof (moonroofs are overrated anyway), 23k mi.
I just couldn't help myself...had to share it with someone!!!
Any guess at what incentive Toyota will after sep. on the 03 models? I know it's a good price but I am tempted to hold out and see.
This negiotiating process did not happen just in one day. The first day, we did the four square sheet and after a couple of hours, we still did not have a deal. They had all of my contact info and called me back a couple of days later and promptly consumated the deal.
By the way, I also had the option of getting the $1000 rebate or 0% financing. I took the financing.
Hope this helps
I am days from closing this deal and have a lots of questions if you care to share your experiance.
The sales person has been staight forward with me and insisted on the adv. fee. That truck had options I did not want and told him so. he replied saying that he had found another with just the options I wanted. thing is, in negotiating that price he did not ask for the adv. fee and his price was $200 less than invoice.
know I am feeling a little worried. COuld be that he found a differnt soure with less trasfer fees are something?
Questions:
I am having him fax a worksheet first. should that have the vin # on it? should it have an out-the-door price and statement?
If I go down to close the deal, how much deposit at most should I put down?
How do avoid any last minute fees they might through in?
what is a Four square sheet?
Does the northeast have zero financing?
Sorry, getting close to the end and I don't want to screw-up a good deal with a mistake in closing.
Any an all advise based on yuor recent experiance is appreciated.
For more buying tips, check out the Advice page.
Oh yeah, concentrate on your out the door price.

When will edmunds release the 04 prices on Sequoia?
If the sunroof is standard for 04, I can gain $800 just by waiting, even if the rebate goes away.
any thoughts?
Anyway, they had at least 12 Sequoia's all loaded with garbage that I am not interested in. Thye both laughed when I told them what I wanted, tell me if I am off base:
4x4 TR5 w/ convenience pkg; preference pkg, leather seats, roof rack, keyless entry for $34,000. I ran the specks on Edmunds and it looks possible. Any suggestions ?

The price with options is less then the 2003 models do to the standard sunroof on the limited.
If I can get the 04 truck at $500 over, I should be ahead of the game.
I hope they continue the incentive/rebate after sep. 2nd.
The Explorer is running great and only has 80K miles on it. We are only getting rid of it because of the space issue (hopefully, the Sequoia will help cut down on the bickering--my head is about to explode with the kids fighting in the car).
Any opinions/info would be great.
Thanks.
If I had access to that info, I'd start my own web site and charge admission to get in :-)
Meanwhile, watch the Incentives page and the Toyota site. Plus someone will likely post in here once word gets out.

I am almost having a hard time beleiving it.
It probably does not exist. Notice that it says "SR5 Limited?" There is no such thing. It is either a SR5 or it is a Limited.
A limited version's MSRP is well above $39K.
A SR5 version with the options listed is well below $36K.
His quote does not make sense. Don't believe it.
I called the salesperson and asked about the name. He stated that all Sequoias are basically SR5 units, but that this one was a Limited.
This is a very reputable dealership that our very large company deals with on a regular basis, so I have no reason to doubt him on the price. Here is the entire quote as I have it today.

I know, I can't still beleive it. Before the detailed quote, I did ask him about Moonroof to test him. He stated that the moonroof was standard on the Limited, so that also leads me to believe it is a Limited.
I have made an appointment today to get this all down on paper and put a down payment on it. If it all rings true, then I will let you know soon!
I just wanted to make sure that you are not being ripped off and are getting a "limited" (it would say on the badge on the turck as well as the window sticker). The MSRP makes no sense as femalebuyer pointed out that the lowest MSRP on 2WD Limited is over $40K. In any event, if you can get a limited for $36K, all the power to you. Another trick they can do is to put either the PM packege or after market leather on the SR5 with the Wheel pkg 2 and call it a limited. I believe that the spoiler can be added as an aftermarket or dealer install option (no very sure). Good luck today. Please keep us informed.
I was a bit skeptical about the price and the first thing I did was ask if this was a Limited and not a pumped up SR5. He brought it up on his computer screen that they were getting (8) 2004 Sequoias and he then showed me the one I was thinking about buying. It did show as a 2004 Phantom Grey Sequoia Limited. I also noticed that the MSRP for the vehicle on the computer was $42,200 and not $39K as he quoted. I also noticed that it said that base dealership invoice on a plain Limited was $35,542. He still offered the SUV to me with all the options before for $36,260 as quoted in the email.
He also made a point to explain to me that his company was in negotiations with my company to sell us cars at a discount. We currently do this with Ford and Mitsubishi to name a few. We are a very large Global company in Texas. He stated that even though the plan was not completely finished, they were still offering me the price quoted in the plan.
I then had him write out the sale sheet with all the options and then all the costs to see what my out the door price was. There was no advertising fee or any other hidden charges. He was very pleasant to to the point. He stated that the vehicle on the computer had options like paint sealant and other items added, but he knew that I didn't want them and took them off. My out the door price with TTL is a bit over $38,000. I gave him my credit card to hold it so I have first option at buying it. It was not too good to be true. I even have a signed sales sheet to prove it now. I will wait two weeks and see what it looks like.
I don't know if all Toyota dealers pay this advertising fee or is it just another gimmick to get you to cough up more bucks. I feel that this fee should not be seperate but just included in the base price of the vehicle. I don't know of any other products that consumers pay a seperate adv. fee for.
BTW, I was running the numbers and it appears that an SR5 with similar options to a Limited comes out cheaper? The only drawback is you have to live with the two tone paint. Is there anything else anyone knows differently?
Highly irritating isn't it?
As always, focus on the out the door price...

We left and I went back to Edmunds.com and clicked on the “Get Dealer Pricing” option and selected 4 local dealerships in the Chicagoland area where we live. Interestingly, the dealership we visited (close enough to ride our bikes to with the kids in tow – AND the salesman is our neighbor) does not have a web site, and neither do the two other closest Toyota dealerships. Of the four dealerships to whom I submitted the request for quotation, two informed me that they couldn’t quote the car (one specified that they won’t provide internet quotes to folks living more than 25 miles away).
One responded with an offer of $500 over invoice for the exact specification. Their price was $42,955. I called the Internet Sales Consultant and put $500 down on the vehicle with a credit card and we should have our truck in 6-10 weeks. This was ridiculously simple.
The $42,955 price quoted is $805 over the published invoice of $42,150 (not $500). While I am very pleased with the price, I asked the Internet Consultant where the extra $305 came from. She told me that it is the regional Toyota advertising fee.
Fine, it is a great deal. And after what I was put through at the first dealership without even asking for a test drive I was perfectly happy to just buy the truck without all of the hassle. I thought that the manager at the first dealership would be savvy enough to recognize a motivated buyer with money burning a hole in his pocket, and would be happy to make a quick $800 bucks. While I sat there, I watched a parade of folks test driving, hemming and hawing, struggling with finances, etc. Many had probably been there before. The salesman will spend days with each of these people and may have a hit ratio of 20%.

Dealer however charged $3000 for Tx Title Tag, says they always add $400 as dealer cost. No matter how much you research, they have fees to match. Tax in KY is 6%.
Want to ask any one about the deal , did I pay way overboard or reasonable deal.
The last three options are useless and alone cost $691 in the invoice price. Above price is inclusive of $2000 incentive from Toyota for this month. Any comments
The last car I purchased (a new Volvo), I used Autobytel. Within 30 minutes of submitting my request, I received a call from a dealership with exactly what I wanted and at the price I wanted. Later that SAME DAY, I drove home as a happy customer.
