In some cases (car-buying activities), it’s better to “secretly” and “inconspicuously” search for, and buy, your car before letting anyone know what car you bought. It adds a sort of “anticipation” and ”surprise” to the entire car-buying process for those of us who enjoy reading a good “car-buying” story.
Further, it limits stress to you because no one, including spouse, knows what’s happening until the car-buying process is completed.
When I would go out to buy a car (an annual or semi-annual activity until recently), I did everything secretly until I began signing the paperwork - at which time I would always call my spouse (until her death) and tell her the “good news”. How my marriage lasted 22 years is something I will never understand. But I never divulged the fact that I was going to buy a new car to anyone until the process ended with a brand new car. Why, you might ask! Well, it’s simple. If you divulge your intention, you end up defending your position to your wife, friends, and even parents - all who will attempt to stop your exploration. Who needs all these negatives in one’s life. Just added stress!
So my advice to you is to inconspicuously find, then buy your car in a very unstressful manner.
Enjoy!

Twitter is good, it helps people unwittingly work for the prosecution. Did you see steaming pile of manure and hot air Gingrich's tweet about it? These people are the worst.

oldfarmer - yep, I know what you mean. I ask Nissan owners what they think about their particular Nissan. They love their Nissan's. I do enjoy MotoMan's Nissan Sentra Turbo 6-speed and Nissan Sentra NISMO YouTube videos, too. He's hilarious, he's intelligent and he's entertaining. If it's not fun, I don't want it.
roadburner - I owe you one, man. I was trying to convince myself that a base Sentra was gonna hold me. You're right, it won't. We just run one rig at a time and we can afford a NISMO payment, so I'm gonna go make a deal.
suydam, IIRC correctly you also commented on the fact that you didn't think iluvmysephia1 would be happy with a Nissan Sentra S. You are also right.
Keep on rockin' in the free world. BTW - I've discovered a new rock band to enjoy. Have you all heard of Social Distortion before? If you like to rock, you'll love them!

Man, abacomike, your post just rings so true to my heart. I finally realized that, as a car lover, absolute car lover, and a Nissan lover, I'd better just go buy my rig and then report back. I have posted so many times on here about this or that, but so far have not posted any positive punches. Well, here's my plan.
abacomike - you are absolutely right. I seem to be obsessed with Nissan products. I will buy this '17 Sentra NISMO 6-speed (I don't think they make an automatic CVT NISMO Sentra, but I've certainly been wrong before) and go about taking fine care of it. I watched MotoMan burn out on takeoff in the 2017 Nissan Sentra SR Turbo 6-speed and it was so nice to see. I don't see myself feeling devoid of power in the NISMO Sentra 6-speed at all and I'll be happy with it, at the same time I would love to score an old '68-'72 Datsun 510 sedan stick, too.
I have to say - Edmunds has been a long, strange trip to be a part of. I've been here since the year 2000 when I drove a 1999 Kia Sephia 5-speed stick. The only car since then I've owned that's not been a stick was our '08 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS. I loved that car, and, yes, I played extensively with the CVT paddle shifters. Not the same thing, gentlemen. With the NISMO 6-speed, I'm going to enjoy rowing my own gears to the full.
New Mexico has a lot of wide open spaces to open up the gearmode, and I aim to open them up and let the engine play to it's heart content. As for the Mrs., she'll get over it. She married someone who absolutely loves cars and loves driving them. She'll get over it.
New Mexico is a wide open country, car lovers. If you ever get the chance to come down here and drive the open highways, do it. Cloudcroft, NM, is one place to start. The Sunspot observatory was created to observe the sun at night. The readerboard outside describes the inside workings in detail. The Sunspot Observatory was created in 1947, those familiar with Roswell, NM, know that the year 1947 was very, very instrumental in carving out alien history.
abacomike - I also owe you one, too. I know you can't take a long road trip. If I'm ever down in Florida for anything over than a Molly Hatchet concert, I will try and get together with you for a drink. On me. Whatever you want. If it ends up two drinks, or even three....they'll still be on me.
Thank you, abacomike, I've been thinking those same thoughts. You see, in a Christian couple, the man is the one responsible for everything. The man has the last word. In the case of the 2017 Nissan Sentra NISMO 6-speed, I have the last word. My decision is to trade in, take the nasty dealer hit (oh I won't just roll over and play dead, though...if they won't offer over $2,000 for my '11 Kia Soul, I'll walk away). I'll let you guys know what happens. Right now, Tuesday afternoon is my first chance to get away and stretch my wings.
driver100 - I never went to Phoenix to trade in the '11 Kia Soul 5-speed for the base Super Black 2018 Nissan Sentra S. Don't look at that as a sign of weakness, look at it as a sign of super-human strength. And if you can search YouTube for any Social Distortion videos, please listen to them. They are a great band!

My late Father’s brush with automotive frustration was an ‘80s something Pontiac Parisienne (SP?). It was not a good car....at all. It was so toublemsome, I don’t think he even kept it a year.
From that point forward it was all Grand Marquis and Lincolns, which he loved!

Parents help form it, too, no doubt. My dad was into old cars, and that stuck with me. They didn't have total brand loyalty though - my parents both liked Fords, but it wasn't exclusive. And we all probably remember any troublesome cars in the family fleet.
