Mike's car probably opens the air vents for the wheel wells automatically If the temperature in the tires gets too high!

No, little German Gnomes climb into the wheel wells and blow on the tires.  When the temps of the tires are normal, they go back into their little compartments waiting until they are again needed.

    Nope they are independent contractors.

At least you don't have to worry about their union giving you trouble. But the GGPA may cause trouble over their working conditions and hours (German Gnome Protective Association).

If not real....they give the impression of a vent as used in racing cars.

Not sure why they would add fake vents...........I am not sure if they add anything to the looks of the car. Maybe make it look meaner for younger drivers.

So, we are SO attached to our vehicles, it's amazing. My oldest daughter inherited my 2007 Versa hatchback about 8 years ago, and posted a "tribute" to it (which I shall not bore you with) on her FB page. New baby, almost 200,000 miles, and she's moving on to a Subaru Forester.

I love having the individual tire pressure readout in the cars TC. and comparing to my digital gauge, it is very accurate. So I just scroll through the menus once a week or so and see what it is. easy peezey.

I have a good system.....I could check my tire pressure on my infor screen, but, if I take the car in for a free wash any day any time my MB dealer is open they will check and fill my tires for me.
That is one of the silent add ons you paid for when you bought the car.

Indeed. People want the illusion and image of "sport" (or "rugged", etc), whether or not it actually functions is moot.

Any stats derived from self reporting data will have a sizable bias error due to many factors. My experience is that owners of certain makes are more forgiving of faults then those of other makes. It may be more of a herd mentality in effect. It may be that the Malibu owner is not indulged with how incredibly reliable there car is while the Accord owner is. The Accord owner in that situation may go with the perception while the Malibu owner may not.

The sample for truedelta is strictly from folks who found out about the site when it was starting up. So these were folks who to my knowledge were likely already internet users. I suspect many Malibu owners of Gen 8 and 9 are older than average buyers. Many have had no or trivial problems, my assumption, and aren't interested in posting on the web on forums to pat themselves on the back for having been smart enough to have purchased a Malibu.

The reason there is a paucity of years reported on the Malibu is that truedelta must not have received enough information on owners who had registered their vehicles to have a reliable bit of info. They did not have leSabre 2003 in their data either, even though I had registered mine and had submitted reports by filling out the simple form they emailed every quarter IIRC.

Many Accord/Civic owners have a personal connection with their vehicle and in their self image to their car being a reliable vehicle. They are average age younger and may have been involved with reading Road and Track, or other mags that are performance oriented, or came across the truedelta soliciting for users to sign up and report. So there's a skew in demographics as well as in motivation.

The sample for truedelta is a convenience sample rather than a random sample such as JD Powers gets by mailing to each randomly selected owner of a registered or titled vehicle. A convenience sample is taking whatever you can find the way of polling. Such as doing a poll at the entrances to the local Kroger store at 10-2 on a weekday, when more women are shopping and their children are in school. Responses on whether the community should build a YMCA in the middle might be skewed.

I recall once visiting a Lowes on a Sunday and doing a personal survey with a live person who seemed to pick me as the xth person passing their table and they were asking about my watching golf or not. I suspect Lowes wanted to know if shoppers at their stores were golf fans--should they place advertising dollars on golf on TV or in golf magazines, e.g.?

Be that as it may, it seems that even with a flawed sample, the results are massively critical. True Delta would have had to require that every Tesla owner who registers has to swear he hates the car before posting.

Where there's smoke, there's fire, so to speak. Something's up.
May be some bias there, but who would report problems if there were none?

My kids were emotional when we parted with our 2010 Forester, which was the "most of our lives" car that we had during their lifetimes. However, our parting with it was a bit more, uh, "traumatic" than a trade-in or sale might be. My wife *still* laments the loss of that car.

I shouldn't be too critical of them, though. When I was eleven, I overheard my parents talking about parting ways with my father's 1971 Econoline. Although we had a few vehicles in my life up to then, we had *always* had that one. I begged my father to reconsider. He said, "Why? Are you going to use it when you can drive?" I said, "Sure!"

Well, he held me to it. I still have that silly thing.

I had mixed emotions when my mom sold dad's '70 Chevy pickup - he'd owned it since new (I was 7). I drove it extensively once I got my license, and I even used it for a time-speed-distance rally one time. That truck was a big part of my life, even after I moved to Colorado.

All the grandkids wanted it, but my dad avoided any hurt feelings by instructing that it be sold and the proceeds distributed to all of them.

CADILLAC MOVES BACK TO MICHIGAN FROM NEW YORK

General Motors is moving Cadillac's headquarters back to Michigan roughly three years after the brand moved to New York City's trendy SoHo district.

"The move will place the Cadillac brand team closer to those responsible for the new Cadillacs, including design, engineering, purchasing and manufacturing, ensuring full integration of Cadillac's global growth strategy," GM said in an earlier e-mailed statement to Automotive News.

Who didn't predict that would happen? New York? Why?

I know Idid on his 66 Polara station wagon which I later learned to drive on. No luck getting him to buy the 64 Corvette instead of the Belair station wagon which developed a transmission leak right after the warranty ran out. He should have listened.

Be like Clint Eastwood and give the neat old car to the neighbor kid.

The 25 yo kid at work says he wants my Mustang after I'm done with it. I might just will it to him since my kids are afraid of it.

CADILLAC MOVES BACK TO MICHIGAN FROM NEW YORK

General Motors is moving Cadillac's headquarters back to Michigan roughly three years after the brand moved to New York City's trendy SoHo district.

2019 Cadillac CT6 V-Sport LUXURY Are niche performance models the key to growing Cadillac's appeal?Cadillac's announcement this week that it's expanding the V-Series performance sub-brand coincided with the belated introduction of the compact XT4 crossover it needed five years ago. The ...

New York? Why?

According to our governor, the only reason people leave NY is the weather. Must be warmer in Michigan. :D

Thank goodness Cadillac has come to its senses. Now, only if they could make a genuine luxury vehicle that might turn the brand around.

Another of smug one trick pony DeNysschen's brilliant moves isn't panning out? Color me shocked.

I can't think of anyone in my family who would want my old car, or who I would trust it with.'

But I do know a young guy in the MB Club who loves it, maybe I should have it sent to him, should the unfortunate arise. He's also from a wealthy family, so he could afford to maintain and/or restore it.

    @fintail,
    Right after you. :)
