The way the light hits the grill in this picture...it looks like you can see through the grill into the engine compartment. Kind of like those washers with a glass door.

Every time I clean out cookies and generally clear out the cache I log in using the Howdy Stranger thingy. If I don't clean up, I don't have to log in.

I didn't do that on either machine, unless they did it themselves without my knowing it. But your comment on the Howdy Stranger thing interests me. I tried that on my office PC and got a different popup box to enter my ID and password, different from any I have seen before. But when I entered the correct email address and password, it said it did not recognize it.
My machines occasionally require met to log in again. This behavior is nothing new (for me), and I don't intentionally clear caches.

Is there a mercy rule in baseball? If so, it should have been applied last night in the Red Sox 16 - 1 shelacking of the Yankees.

When a game is lost the manager should be able to throw in the towel and concede the game to the opposing team. Rather than embarrass the players and wasting the arm of pitchers such lopsided games should be called

Mercy for the Yankees? You must be kidding. :p

I got caught behind a Porsche Panamera this morning doing 30 mph in a 40 zone. I've never really has a close look at them before, and maybe you aren't supposed to say this about a $100,000+ car, but those things are butt ugly there are much nicer looking cars for a lot less money.

I know. They are fast (this one wasn't). They handle really well. Yada.

    I love the Panamera.

That Avalon on the other hand .... it looks like that joke photoshop that was floating around not long ago where they made the entire front end a grille. I think it was on a Lexus. So they seem to be turning into their caricature.

At least you guys didn't go out like the Cubs did. Failing to keep the lead in the division the losing the tie breaker and then losing the wild card. The Cubs had a brutal end of the season going 30 days without a day off including one day where they flew out to DC for one game then back to Chicago. That cannot be good for a team.

Regarding the Impala, I had a loaded one as a rental when this style debuted, pretty nice car. I don't know if it can be equipped with the gizmos of an S-class, but the steering wheel resembles that of a W221 S-class.

The Impala is nice (except for the steering wheel, which is inexplicably ugly) but if you move up to the Buick Lacrosse on the same platform you get an even nicer version and it doesn't have much missing.

I had to log in today....first time in at least a month...probably an update.
No update that I'm aware of on our end. Sometimes after computer OS updates, I have to log back in. Today there was a big update applied to my work laptop and I had to log back in, so those kind of things happen.

May not be because of an update, it could be that the system kicks people off after a certain amount of time for security purposes. It may require a sign in after a certain amount of inactivity and/or every so many days regardless of activity.

That could be it as well, now that you mention it.

BTW, one of the books I'm reading at the moment is one about the 1964 Indy 500 and the Dave MacDonald - Eddie Sachs crash. Pretty good read. Lots of stuff about the engineering side and changes in rules, tire development, all that dry stuff that makes the race interesting to me :)

And it's kinda scary reading about the risks they took then, knowing what we know now

I don't mind having to log in monthly or whatever, Bob. But if I am going to have to do that, the system here needs to make it work a whole lot better. The original Vanilla login used to be required periodically as well, but it worked. This one, not so much. As it sits, it is way too rickety, complicated, and unreliable.

Mike, it’s an Avalon. They usually have big comfy seats. So maybe it’s just the pictures making them look small. But, always need to try before you buy!
Could be - but I am 6’2” tall and those front seats look awfully short and narrow.  But you are correct - have to sit in it before I can assume anything.

But I am seriously interested in that car for my next car - loaded of course - and I would lease it.

I definitely would consider the Impala as well as the Avalon.  I have 2 years before I have to decide.  Thanks for the suggestion.  The Buick as well - but I thought I read somewhere that Buick is dropping the LaCrosse in 2019 or 2020.

I do like the new Nissan Kicks, their new SUV. The problem with me and that SUV is simple, though, as far as actually buying one. They don't make them with a manual transmission!

I am now considering a 2017 Nissan Sentra SR Turbo 6-speed in Super Black, and, a 2017 Nissan Sentra NISMO 6-speed in Brilliant Silver. The difference in price is little - the NISMO is only $17,995 and it has only 6,800 miles on it. It's only 90 miles south of me. NO-BRAINER!

The Super Black Sentra SR Turbo 6-speed is selling for $15,411 and it's all the way in Chandler, AZ, a suburb of Phoenix. That car has 12,800 miles on it.

Both of these cars are in the running. And I do like abacomike's method: drive there, get your car and call your Mrs. from the table once the deal is done! I do think that would work in our situation.

stick - it's mostly appearance bits for the NISMO. If you look at their bodies, the NISMO Sentra is different in the front the most. They give it the Nissan GTR front end look. I like it - though I also like the Sentra SR Turbo, too. One thing the NISMO has is awesome hugging seats, though they're cloth.

The SR Turbo's seats are leather, both cars have heated seats. Both cars have 1.6L I4 cyl. DIG turbo engines with 188hp.

Big HBD, Mike. Every day is a gift no matter what the age.

Yes it is. Friends of ours, with whom my wife taught for much of 30 years and her husband, are suffering the journey of their 43-year old son dying soon with the pancreatic cancer that was found only a few months ago. He has been put into hospice at his home this week. The end is happening sooner than the doctors expected.

His oldest of 2 daughters is a senior. He has the same personality as his mother and father and is very mild and personable. He gave an educational tour of the Target store security camera system to our boy scout troop when I was arranging experiences for the boys when my son was in the troop in middle school. We appreciated his humor and his time greatly.

    Sad.

People have recommended other cars in the same price ranges. I dont' see why a top-rated GM product would be an insult to someone considering moving from a higher priced luxury car to a less costly one.
