Possibly. But this is Canada Post we are dealing with here. We have a community mailbox system here with about 50 mailboxes in a spot about a block away. There are also a half-dozen or so parcel compartments there. If you get a parcel, it is put into one of the compartments and the key to the compartment is put into your mailbox. I have got parcels addressed to other people when the key was mistakenly placed in my mailbox. And with Canada Post it is also possible that the guy just left it in the truck and it might get delivered in a day or two when he spots it.

I will give it until tomorrow and then file a claim.

With USPS (US Mail), it is hit or miss. Depends a great deal on where you live. If you're out in a rural area or a really small town, you will probably know your mail carrier and get very good service. Where I live now, service truly sucks. Half of the mail that I do get is clearly addressed to someone else (same number, but one or two streets over, or else same street but different number). And if I put outgoing mail in the box and raise the flag, it may be 2 or 3 days before it is actually picked up. And I am not talking weekends or holidays.

They're now talking about doing away with the Post Office entirely, which wouldn't bother me any. But it would negatively impact people in rural areas, so ...

Dino, too bad Bosch isn't available at Costco. Check as many reviews as you can for Whirlpool and G.E and unless there is a noticeable difference go with the one you prefer. I think the fact you got your money back and can start over again gives you a new chance. I doubt if any of the better models that get good reviews will be a problem. Like you said, dishwashers are complex, you may want to consider an extended warranty.
Nice to know there is a store that takes care of it's customers.....Costco came through again.

In the U.S. they take a picture of the item dropped off at your house. If it goes missing they bseem to believe you that it was stolen. I think Canada Post usually ask for a signature in Canada, or you have to pick it up at post office. Sometimes they think it got delivered but it won't arrive until the next day. Most of the time it works fine.

Costco gives you extra year from the mfr. on everything major they're selling (electronics, appliances, computers, etc.) and I my Costco Citi credit card extends it by another 2 years, so I'd be covered for four years automatically without buying any extended warranty. As I mentioned, it's not the breakdown that bothered me, or even possible cost of repair, if it happened post-warranty. I have the money to cover such expenses. What I don't have a patience to is the ridiculous waiting period for the part. After so many years LG still doesn't understand that it's not enough to make it pretty, clever and attractive, it's the post-sale support infrastructure. I heard those complaints about this very thing with them before, but you'd think they had enough time to learn since they came to the appliance market over 10 years ago. Not so much. Extended warranty won't help if parts are not available, or you have to wait for them for three months. Even though they sometimes promise to give your money back, you'd still have to fight them, just like you would the manufacturer. They will use every excuse in the book not to honor that promise. That's why having Costco in your corner is a great asset, as demonstrated in my case. Otherwise, I would be just another Graphicguy and his CTS.

How can a low cholesterol level be bad for you? I just got my lab results. LDL is 44.4 and my HDL 38.0, total cholestesterol of 98 and total glycerides of 78. The nurse called to discuss the low HDL which dropped from 43 to 38 from June 2017. Should I be worried or scared straight?
I had very low cholesterol levels that caused my doctor to cut my meds in half.  Very low cholesterol levels below 40 (LDL) is not good.  Mine was 31 so he cut my Lipitor from 40 mpg’s to 20 mpg’s.

I rarely buy extended warranties but I thought Costco may do the same as they do for their TVs......they handle the extended warranty and not the TV manufacturer. The beauty of Costco is their suppliers want to be in the store....if they don't perform Costco will give them the boot. I like small indie dealers but, sometimes it is best to buy from the guy with the hammer.

Canada may have different system. Here you get second year with the mfr., BUT they have a dedicated phone number "for life" of the appliance/computer/TV/camera/etc., where they'd advocate and make the arrangements in warranty in first two years and arrange things for you out of warranty, too, if you wish (you pay for those). You can buy Square Trade extension from them, too, which I may work with that "Concierge Service" (I don't know, probably) and it is at great price, but why would I do it if my card gives me extra two years on top of those two manufacturer's years.

Mike, I hope you don't consider this an insult but the 2018/2019 Chevy Impala Premier is worth a look see. It is top rated by Consumer Reports and it has probably has every feature currently available on your S540.

The Impala is a nice car. Even at the rental level they are quite luxurious. The swoopy styling takes away from usable space but I would put them right up there with the Avalon. I think 2019 is the last year for them so deals might be had.

I also like the Malibu which is almost the same size and has similar looks fir less money. I wonder if Chevy shot itself in the foot by making them look so similar.

I got to drive a Maserati Quattroporte backfrom dealer service today. Lots of zip and a nice interior but oh! that price.

My favorite car of the day was a lease return Ford Edge with almost 85k miles that I drove up from our lot in Linden NJ. Usually long term leases are pretty much trashed by the timeweget them back but this drove like a brand new car.

BTW, don't they install turn signals on cars in NJ? The cars don't either don't have them or drivers are trying to save money by not burning them out.

Mike, it’s an Avalon. They usually have big comfy seats. So maybe it’s just the pictures making them look small. But, always need to try before you buy!

Could be - but I am 6’2” tall and those front seats look awfully short and narrow.  But you are correct - have to sit in it before I can assume anything.

But I am seriously interested in that car for my next car - loaded of course - and I would lease it.

I'm 6'2" also and the seats were fine for me but getting in was a little tight because of thesweep of the windshield and the low roof.

The above post shows a NISMO Sentra. This picture shows the Nissan Sentra SR Turbo front end, to show the differences.

The NISMO Sentra has the GTR wideouts and much different foglights as well.

Living by myself, the dishwasher usually gets run once a week and I do two loads of laundry a week. Being single has its rewards...

I am in the opposite situation as @jmonroe1 right now. A pair of shoes I ordered online was out for delivery yesterday morning. The tracker said they were delivered at 2:35PM. They weren't. Still no sign of them. I am getting concerned.

I'm very hesitant to use online shopping but sometimes it seems to be unavoidable. Like with the AC condenser cooling fan motor, which I could not buy locally, I had to go online. Now, clothes and shoes for sure, I could never buy online because I have to feel the item and try them on first before I buy.

Mrs. j has been doing water aerobics for years now and a lot of the women in her class buy their swim suits online because they say it is much cheaper but she can't bring herself to do that because she also likes to test fit in the local stores. Thinking she could save us some money, I suggested that she give it a try since her classmates have been very satisfied. Her response was, "you go first".

I finished my dinner about 20 minutes ago and when I opened my front door to dump some trash in the trash chute, there was a big white box on the ground against the door.

After emptying the garbage, I brought the box inside and opened it.  It was a birthday cake sent by my kids from “Bake Me A Wish”.  The chocolate cake was melted and runny because it must have been sitting outside my door for many hours.  UPS was the delivery company.

I know the box wasn’t there at noon because that’s when I got home from walking.  The box is clearly marked FRAGILE and PERISHABLE.  It was 90 degrees today - why would the UPS driver drop off the box in front of my door and not knock on my door or ring my doorbell?

The Birthday cake was ruined so I had to throw it out.  I called my kids and told them to get a refund - but of course I thanked them for the surprise.

UPS had some nerve not knocking on my door or not ringing my doorbell.  What a shame!  :@ :'(:(

Hey, like good, tasteful wine, buying the right car takes time.

By this time the wine would have got stale and would have fermented and caused great pains in the stomach, and then given indigestion which would last for a week causing lots of nausea, not, to mention problems in other areas of the digestive track.

I think you are going to get tired of the new NISMO before you have even bought it.

More login woes, this time on my laptop. I saw and tried to use three different login screens before I got one that let me into the forums. The first was a tiny popup box in the top left of the screen that you had to scroll down to get to the "Already a Member? Sign in!" line, and so I did, but it just sat there with a spinning wheel. Deep-sixed that after a while, so I went to edmunds.com, hit the sign-in link, and did so, That let me get into my Insider account, but when I selected the forums link I got the same old Howdy Stranger page, so I had to sign in again there. That finally let me in. Seamless! :o

WOW, are we really worth that much effort?

I think you should spend more time looking for that pair of shoes that were delivered. :'(

Thanks but I already know that. You should let the MODS know about this so I can get a well deserved dues reduction.

Yesterday, we went appliance shopping and I can't believe how expensive home appliances have become. Our initial intention was to buy a replacement microwave for our Sears Elite convection microwave that arc flashed after just 14 months. No extended warranty, expensive lesson learned. So, on we went shopping.

    First stop -- Home Depot:

--Kitchen Aid Dishwasher, (Model # KDTM354DSS) in Stainless Steel with Stainless Steel Tub, and a quiet 43 decibel rating, $942
--Maytag 2.0 cu. ft Over the Range Microwave (Model # MMV4206FZ ) $379

    Second stop --Lowes:
--Frigidaire Gas Range (Model # LGGF3046TF) net price after 33% discount, $90, three-year warranty plus accessories, $940.

That’s expensive for a range IMO. There are much cheaper options, especially if you don’t need every fancy electronic gizmo.

    Purchase in haste....Repent in a wannabe. :p

Iluv's only danger is waiting too long, finding his dream car sold and then buying something less desirable on the rebound. :'(

Or buys the same model car, slightly older, for less money.

You could be right but there comes a time when you'll be too old to drive. :'(

No, no no. I traded for that 2011 Kia Soul 5-speed on July 2, 2014. It's only been a tad over 4 years! That's how much this group thinks on hyper-warp speed regarding car purchases.

I bet pretty much none of you would admit it if you're pissed at yourself for a car purchase you've made already. I still have 1 year and 9 months to pay on the 2011 Kia Soul 5-speed note. I'm doing fine with my car search, and, what's more, it wouldn't be some goofy tissy fit any of you threw that would somehow magically cause me to pull the trigger on one of these gorgeous available Nissan Sentra's, anyway.

Take a big bite on one of your dog's chew bones, chill out, and resume rooting for your favorite NFL team this weekend. I'm interested in a certain Seattle Seahawk quest to go 3-3 by beating Jon Gruden's Oakland Raiders team in London Sunday.

And I'm getting back to car research on an iluvmysephia1 level. Ahh, yes. It's great ta be me...a car lover in the last quarter of the year 2018. Someone who is in no particular rush to begin a new round of 60 or 72 monthly car payments.

    Happy car shopping!

    Is this grounds for divorce??

Picture does no justice of the aftermath.  Almost a half hour with the shop vac and then a lint roller for the seat backs.  Ugh

^^^ I shouldn't laugh at that because I'd be livid if that was my car, but I just can't stop. :D
