The morning talk show guy on a medium market Cincy station has segments on his show about things happening in Florida that he collects from the news somehow. It's a regular 15 minutes or so of his show from 5 am to 7 am. Some folks there are doing strange things...

I'm just thinking it's not really exclusive to Florida folks doing those things.

It isn't me...but, Florida is known for some of the strangest things going on.

I rarely actually open the sunroof. Mrs D will drive around with the a/c on and the sunroof open....I tell her the whole town appreciates that she is air conditioning the city.

    Cold air falls... :)

Our LaCrosse had the power sunshade over the pano roof. I really liked that. Very convenient.

Our Enclave has the pano roof over the rear seats and a regular sunroof up front. The rear sunroof is far enough back that the front roof slides into the headliner rather than up and over the roof. I just wish the sunshades were power as there are times the kids ask for the shade to be open and that is hard to do while driving

OK Mr. Technical, under normal conditions you are correct, cold air does fall. However, with an outside force this is not true because when you are driving down the road with your A/C on you will lose some if not all of the cool air (depending on speed) due to the creation of an eductor/venturing effect. My brother also drives around with the roof open just like Mrs. Driver does. I don't like the roof opened except to initially open it to purge the hot air in the car after baking on hot Summer days. Not only does the bright sun play hell with me trying to see the info screen, too much noise is created. I like to hear the radio when I drive not road noise, especially bikers showing off their pipes.

FWIW, I might be lost from this site if my phone, which I'm posting from now, acts up like my PC has done for two days now by giving the infamous Howdy Stranger page that will not let me in. When I try I get a "we're having a minor problem" pop-up. For two days, I'd say it ain't minor but different folks categorize things differently. Like a minor heart attack applies to someone else that has one, not you, yourself.

    jmonroe
Wait a second... did you just agree with @driver100 ???
Well, ah...ah, I guess, but he'll never understand why. Too technical for him to grasp. :p

    jmonroe
    I'm just happy you agreed....even if I don't understand why! :D

Sometimes I take for granted living in a secure gated community - until you need assistance at 10:30 PM!

At about 10:25 PM this evening, I started to hear a loud chirping sound.  At first I thought it was coming from the TV.  After a few minutes, I muted the TV and still heard the chirping sound.  I then recalled that a year or so ago, that same noise was caused by a smoke detector whose 9v battery was about to die.

I went into my foyer and found that ceiling detector was OK.  I then walked toward the entryway to my master bedroom and sure enough it was the detector on the wall near the bedroom door (I don’t use the master bedroom except for showering in the morning).

I called our 24 hour security line since the security officers carry 9v batteries just for this purpose - our homeowners association is responsible for all unit smoke detectors which are all connected to the main computer at the security office.  The security officer arrived within 5 minutes, changed the battery, and left a few minutes later.

Definitely a relief to have that service available at night.

There were some eye-witness reports on the Ethiopian crash. Apparently the plane was rattling and shaking violently and there was some smoke. I dunno, sounds kinda like a stall and a full-throttle attempt?

Strangely enough, I have done that a few times before. It is sort of like doubling your bet when you lose at Black Jack, etc. Sometimes it even works. I think this would be a good stock to go ahead and buy because whatever the problem is, if there is a problem, it could be an easy fix.
OK, so I bought a few shares of BA late yesterday. Woke up in the middle of the night thinking U.S. might very well ground those planes today and shares will tank further, so sold this morning pre market and made a small profit when BA was up about $5.00 a share. It is still up about $4.00 right now.

This story just came out today:
When it comes to scams, Florida is still No. 1, with millennials — not seniors — in the crosshairs, according to the latest fraud report from the Federal Trade Commission.

With nearly 3 million consumer complaints made to the agency in 2018, the Sunshine State ranked No. 1 for fraud and No. 4 for identity theft, according the latest FTC Data Book, which compiles statistics from complaints made directly to the agency

Florida is the leader in crazy stories, this prof has a theory:
“The rationale used to be that America tilted toward the west and all the nuts rolled to California,” Mormino, a history professor at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg, told AOL Weird News in 2011. “Now, perhaps, there’s been a tectonic shift and America tilts toward the southeast.”

How come those batteries die at the most inconvenient times....usually at 2 a.m.? Mike, your condo should be replacing those batteries once a year....not when they go off!

That reminds me, I have been buying batteries that say they last for 5 years and now 10 years. I thought they were long lasting....but, the fine print says "in storage".......probably under ideal conditions.

Ours last for 5 years.  I actually don’t remember the last time that particular smoke detector needed a new battery.  The one in the entryway needed a new battery about 14 months ago.

But it is a nice convenience to have our HOA maintain he smoke detectors at all hours of the day and night!

Where do you think Californians retire?  Certainly not in California where a low six figure salary is considered the poverty level thanks to all the taxes out there.  I used to live there in the 1990’s and barely subsisted on $75,000 a year.   The price of gasoline alone is enough to kill a budget - but their sales taxes and state income taxes are murder!

True, true, but you're talking about air travel, not plastic lawn ornaments from China. Next to oxygen and football, most Americans can't live without airplanes.

They thought they couldn't live without landline telephones too...........

True indeed, but not by tomorrow morning.

Modern air travel is kind of stupid, if you step way back and think of yourself as an alien visiting earth for the first time.

"Let's see...these people get from one place to another by stuffing 300 people in a metal tube, which they then fill with highly flammable petroleum product, then ignite it, and launch the tube into the air until it lands somewhere else. They then leave the tube and get into smaller petroleum-powered tubes, and then reach outlying parking lots where they get into their own personal petroleum tube".

Not only that, but how do these stupid earthlings expect this multi ton object to fly through the air?
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There was one a science fiction short story I read where they discovered that the reason planes crashed is that a certain # of the passengers stop believing the plane could fly.

Well....hell’s bells! I fly 2-3 times/mo. Guess what I’m going to do when I fly again? I won’t be able to sleep onboard because then my thoughts won’t keep the plane in the air.

My company has some components the Boeing uses in the Max (not related to the software). According to my colleagues on that side of the business reported that apparently, the FAA wanted to ground them a couple of days ago. It became a political hot potato as Boeing Execs whined to the right politician people to keep the planes flying in the U.S.

That hot potato became so hot, and the FAA’s evidence so compelling, the grounding advice was finally headed.

Confirms to me that Boeing is the most insincere corporate crybaby on this side of the Atlantic. Saying "Airbus does, too" doesn't make it right, at all. It's really sad, seems like the "right politicians" lost this time, but how many times did they win?

CA is definitely NOT retirement friendly. Sales tax is close to 10%. I’m sure all have heard of the 13.3% CA state tax. As many illegals that are coming from Mexico and other South American countries, & other parts, Mexico as well as the others are really GREAT places to retire! There are even known ex patriot communities! Friends for many years, spend up to three months of a year in Mexico, etc. They love it & we’ve standing years long invite/s to join them any time.

I’ve been retired since 2001. But we are right in the middle of the so-called “Golden Triangle” in Silicon Valley, CA. Suffice to say, it’s a very heady time, area, period in technology & many other disciplines. That has been true actually for the past 30 years and I think it will remain true for at least another 30 years. Whatever infrastructures of interest are ...great in comparison to a lot of areas. The healthcare infrastructures here, for example are literally massive.

Well, this old scaredy cat took home a few hundred dollars this morning by just pushing a couple of buttons. Also there's the one about pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered.

I have a friend who went to Vegas in a $100,000 automobile and came home in a Million dollar Greyhound bus.

I don't want his phone number. If he even has one anymore. :'(

Well, I deposited a couple of hundred dollars into my grandson’s account and texted him a photo of the receipt.  That was 3-1/2 hours ago.  Did I get a response yet?  Of course not.

I’d get hysterical if I found out I am helping my grandson take his girlfriend to fancy restaurants with the money I send him every month!  :D:D:D

So far, 36 mpg for the MB GLK 250 BT (350-21 mpg PUG). The tire wear data indicates that the new tires (13/32 nd in) should begin showing mpg gains ( up to 37.5 mpg) @ roughly 7/32 nd in on down. Oem run flats changed at roughly 76,000 miles, 10/32 nd in - 3/32 nd in. = 10,857 miles per 1/32nd in. 2/32 nd in is considered legally bald. Fueling was done when the low fuel lamp came on. You couldn't make this stuff up....no one would ever believe you.

Port Richey is like a suburb of Tampa.

Not a rerun: A second Port Richey mayor is under arrest
Vice Mayor Terrence Rowe stepped in to become acting mayor after Dale Massad’s arrest. But now the acting mayor is also under arrest.

Port Richey acting mayor Terrence Rowe, 64, was arrested March 13, 2019, by Florida Department of Law Enforcement agents on charges of obstruction of justice, conspiracy to commit obstruction of justice and use of a two-way communication device to facilitate the commission of a crime. He was vice mayor until the Feb. 21, 2019, arrest of Mayor Dale Massad, 68, who is accused of firing at a Pasco sheriff?s SWAT team that was arresting him on allegations that he was practicing medicine without a license in his home.

After his arrest, the state’s chief financial officer announced that he was also under investigation possible insurance fraud

    Here we go!

First two warm days -- 70 deg FLoridaheit, and now a cool front. And indicated tornado location 30 miles or so west of Dayton. The same folks going extreme over the potential of 1-4 inches of snow 2 weeks ago are now ballistic over the possibility a tornado might touch down. Absolutely have lost their minds.

Now the drama TV news station has a big black ring to use to circle the indicated counter rotation areas. The ring has about 15 red lights around the ring that flash to make sure the viewer can see what the talking heads want us to see.

Green spots and red spots adjacent to each other for the spinning winds weren't clear enough?

Not enough that my cell phone went crazy in the mile drive home from Kroger with a warning alert.
Then my radio station gave beeps and an oral warning alert.
Now I"m home and the TV station is full of people who need some sedation drugs to slow them down.

well, if there are actually tornadoes touching down in the area, that I would want them to go a bit crazy with. Not a potential 2-4" of snow.

I called back to the store: they said I can pick it up later after the catastrophe is over.

I stopped to see if my wife's one insulin could be refilled yet. Yes it can even though she's used it faster than the labelled rate. But the pharmacy didn't have any. Their refrigerator quit last evening and they lost thousands of dollars of insulin and other biologic products.

I asked if the temperature warning beeper didn't go off. Yes, it did. They checked it and thought it was okay. Hmmm.
Critical refrigerator is acting up. They didn't move the insulin to a small temporary fridge while they verified the reliability of the service unit? I'm smart enough to do that. Sometimes I think I could run things better at some businesses.

We even are keeping the small fridge as a backup from when our Whirlpool quit on us. Just in case... Just in case...

But, I think two mayors getting arrested in one month...both from the same small town wins the crazy award, especially when one had a shoot out with police. He will probably get reelected too!

If anything starts chirping in the night I have to deal with it myself. Doesn’t matter If it involves climbing a ladder or climbing up on the roof.

It’s nice to know that the pampered rich have it so easy.

(and have such nice cars to drive) :p

Well, I deposited a couple of hundred dollars into my grandson’s account and texted him a photo of the receipt.  That was 3-1/2 hours ago.  Did I get a response yet?  Of course not.

I’d get hysterical if I found out I am helping my grandson take his girlfriend to fancy restaurants with the money I send him every month!  :D:D:D

Prepare for hysteria. Just think of what you would have done with a hot girlfriend and a soft touch grandfather when you were his age.
