Unless owner bought off Craigs List, I'm wondering where dealer he purchased car from is located. We don't have any of those in Dayton (nor Columbus nor Cincinnati). Maybe it was a trade in at the BMW store? LOL
...dealer still on Beehmont or Plainfield (Cincinnati)?
It's a McLaren 650S Coupe (Spyder), from what I can tell. Chicago, DC, and Atlanta are closest.
I went back to parking garage after picking up my wife at Brio just to take a picture and look at the car again to see what it is. My first picture in the wild with the camera and it seems a little like I shot through the car window. But the window was down. I don't know if I have settings to change on the Android 4.4 camera or what.
One's a "normal" incentive and one is an "auto show" incentive. Usually the fine print says what incentives can't be combined and these don't say that. I don't know if you need to have something that says you went to an auto show in order to get the second $500 incentive. I don't think so, but ....
If you go to Ford.com they don't list an Auto Show incentive at all. The fine print there says "Some offers may be used in combination with other offers. Please see your dealer for details."
Thanks Stever. Funny that Edmunds should list an auto show discount for my zip code when there hasn't been one around here for months. For my zip on the Ford site they list no rebates at all.

On I-75 the speed limit around here is 70 mph, but everyone is going 80.
I have gotten on the highway in the Passat (140 hp) and the E400 (330 hp).
It is much easier, faster, and safer in the MB.
Of course there is the negative of less mpg with a high horsepower engine. That being said, I couldn't agree with you more.
Gas mileage has never been a consideration for me when buying a car. Of course I usually drive less than 10,000 miles per year. If I used my car for work and drove many thousands of miles a year, that may change - but I doubt it.

Driver, doesn't your Passat have the 2.5L 5-cylinder engine? If so, it should have 170HP, not 140.
And, your description is exactly why the wife likes more horsepower in her cars. No way would she like the 175HP in the Outback 2.5i; the 256HP in the 3.6 is much more to her liking.

Yes Michaell, you are correct...it does have the 5 cylinder 170 hp engine.......just feels like 140
Mileage is about 36 mpg compared to 32 in MB......don't know if it is that much of a difference to really be concerned about. The good thing is it provides pretty good basic transportation with some nice refinements and extras for under $25k.

I see a Maserati in the doctor's parking as we exit the garage at Miami Valley Hospital. All super sporty. Wonder how they do in snow like 6-8 inches around Cincy today.
I am looking for a brand new 2015/2016 stylish compact to medium sized five passenger all wheel drive SUV/CUV with saddle leather, premium sound system, no sun roof, with most the tech features (self-parking would be nice) for max budget of $40K. I would be buying rather than leasing as well as trading in my 2011 mint condition Lacrosse CXS with 28K miles.
I just got a flyer in the mail that made me think of you. It is interesting in that it is from the lady who had been driving my 2011 Regal Turbo as a demo when she was sales manager at the GM dealer here. Now she has moved to become the GM of the same dealer group's Kia dealership and she was offering me a deal on a Sorento. Now the Sorento is not a vehicle I think about much but a former co-worker bought one and it was really a nice vehicle. I always liked the looks of them also. Maybe worth a look?

ab, thanks for the heads-up. I will take a long look see as dealers are extending their Presidents' Day sales to make up for lost business due to the severe snow events. By the way, which is the premium division, Hyundai or Kia? And what is the Hyundai equivalent of the Sorento; Santa Fe or Tucson?

I don't think of either as particularly premium but Kias are styled much better IMO. The Hyundai equivalent is the Santa Fe, which to me resembles the current Escape (or vice versa).
Today I went to start my wife's PT and it was a no start. Battery is old and weak so no surprise since it was 7 below this morning. I got out my battery charger and charged it back up. Car would crank but not start through about four charge up and crank down secessions. Finally after a long trickle charge it reluctantly started.
I immediately noticed that the oil light stayed on. Never a good thing. After it wouldn't go off after about 30 seconds I shut the car off. Waited a minute, started it again and the oil light went right out.
What could have caused that? I've started cars in much colder conditions and never had that happen. Should I be worried about a bad oil pump?
I'll have to replace the battery if this cold continues and I wonder what I should have my mechanic check in the engine. Car has less than 30k miles and the oil was changed less than 1000 miles ago. Plenty of oil on the dipstick.

Both the Ghibli and Quatroporte are available in AWD. I'm guessing they work just as well as X Drive or Quattro.
Ain't that interesting.
Say, I need an opinion from the brain trust.

OF, my take would be that the viscosity of the oil got sper thick due to the very cold temps. After it ran for 30 seconds, the oil started to heat up and increase in temp. You shut it down and started it again and the oil light went right out.
I would change the oil if it has not been changed in the last 30-60 days. Water may have also gotten into the crankcase causing the oil to thicken. Just some guessing on my part - but definitely get the crankcase emptied and pit in the correct viscosity oil for the temp range right now.
Farmer, probably just a fluke because of all the cranking. Not likely you hurt anything, especially if it has oil, and the light is off after it was finally running.
and don't screw around. Get the battery now. it obviously was weak and on borrowed time, and draining and charging like that takes even more out of it.

That's what I was thinking. My wife is back in Ontario, though there isn't any snow it is -12F. She said lots of cars aren't starting. My uneducated guess is the oil just got too thick.....then again, what do I know?
Yes, we are! Downright balmy for this time of the year!
Yes, it's kind of a strange winter month just about everywhere. I noticed that some of the Hawaii flights from the Midwest and east coast are actually flying over far northern CA and Oregon to avoid weather, while the Atlanta and Dallas ones are hugging the Mexican border.
Those of you who follow the CCBA discussion know that I am in the market for a new car for my wife. My wife has been driving SUVs for the last 10 years, and now she wants something more like a station wagon. The problem is she still want something with all-wheel-drive and either a turbocharged engine Or a v6.
Take a look at the V60 XC or you can wait a few months for the VW Golf Sportwagen AWD.
The wife really likes the XC70, but when you equip it with the same level of technology the Outback 3.6R has, it creeps up close to the $50,000 price point.
The new Golf Wagon AWD might be nice, but not sure the 170HP from the 1.8T engine would be enough for her ... now, if it was available with the 2.0T from the GTI / GLI, that would be a different story.
That's what I am finding out in my search for an upscale five passenger SUV/CUV. The base prices seem reasonable enough but as soon you add a few options, (which come in packages) the MSRP crosses my $40K comfort zone.
For example, I can't understand why a 2015 *Titanium Ford Edge* stickers for over $42K. The same is true for the Infiniti QX50, with a $37K price that quickly rise pass the $50K price point for a model with the basic features available in a Hyundai Elentra. And what's worse, the two vehicles mentioned deliver extremely poor gas mileage in the 17/24 mpg range. But I'll keep looking....even if I have to settle for a Hyundai Santa Fe Sport.

Another way: "Draft" is listed in the right hand navigation menu if one is waiting. Choose that. Hover mouse around top of draft and an "x" appears at right top, sort of like the stars the mark the bookmarked topics. Click on the "x" and the draft is gone.

The battery in our 2003 CRV is now seven years old and showing no signs of weakness.
Still, I plan to replace it ASAP. I would much rather replace a battery on MY terms instead of having it strand me somewhere. Oh, I might be able to get another year out of it but why take the chance?

You're lucky. I'm guessing the moderate weather in your area allows for a longer battery life. Batteries will typically last about 4-5 years here in Boston.
Extreme hot of cold weather is tough on batteries.
When I managed a large Sears Auto Repair facility I remember hearing that a Diehard would only last about three years in places like Las Vegas or Phoenix. Same applied to very cold places.
Now THAT'S a proper insult! Let me go look up a good photo of one here....(tippity tap, tippity tap)....ah, here it is......and........well....it ain't pretty but is it any worse than the Soul?

When I lived in Palm Desert, CA (near Palm Springs), my car battery would last 2 years at the most. Those 110 degree summer temps played havoc with them. Same thing for my tires - 2 years tops!

I was just going to say the same thing. Whoever posts these cars, does not own them, probably doesn't even live in the country.
The scammers go on websites like ebay, trader, craigslist, copy photos off ads, and repost them in different cities. Once a contact is established, the "seller" will pitch a story how they're divorced, leaving country, etc...., and car will be purchased though paypal with a buyer protection plan. They'll send you a fake paypal page (easily done in photoshop or publisher program), with emphasis on buyer protection etc, and that it's safe to wire money to this seller. Once you wire the money, you'll never hear back from them.
This might work with people not familiar with this scam who think they're getting a smoking deal.
My wife's cousin almost fell for it when he came to Canada with his family and was shopping for a car. I quickly looked at the ad and knew right away that it's a scam as the car for sale was pictured in a parking lot surrounded by Peugeots, Citroens, and Renaults, cars not even sold in North America.
Anyways as they saying says, if it's too good to be true.......
Plus there are warnings all over Craigslist not to wire money to anyone.
Saw one one the road. Nasty. I think they brought the guy who designed the F10 out of retirement to pen it.
I agree, their current design theme is not winning me over. But Nissan overall seems to be an odd company. Have you seen the ads they are running this winter? I know some of them though perhaps not all are in the US market now, but up here in Canada they have run a series of similar-themed ads for a while now. They are almost like mini horror movies. The one I have seen on the US channels is the one with the snowmen attacking cars on a city street, and the Nissan driver rescues a mother and child. Even worse is one I have only seen on Canadian channels with a suspension bridge in winter that starts snapping cables and using them to attack the cars crossing it - really very spooky, and probably not very comforting for those who have a fear of crossing bridges. Then there was another one last year that had gas pumps attacking people, and one right now that has some kind of mud monsters sucking cars into the muck. These are not presented with any sort of sense of humor I can see. What are they thinking? That it is a good idea to scare potential customers?
speaking of ugly Nissans, we saw a new Rogue in the mall parking lot this past weekend in one of the worst colors I've ever seen. Best way I could describe it is burnt mustard.

I must be really naive thinking those ads were placed by someone who doesn't spell very well. Does CL have a way to report those phonies? That's one reason I would find it hard to buy something like a car on the internet from an indie guy.

You can contact Craigslist, but I don't think they have a lot of warm bodies following up on the scammers. They are hiring though. Too bad about that whole "rent" thing.
Speaking of ads I wonder about the Buick one. A young lady is looking for her friend and thinks her friend who is supposed to be in a new Buick is in an old Taurus. She jumps in and the guy behind the wheel is eating a submarine sandwich. Then she realizes her friend is on the other side of the road and she is surprised the Buick doesn't look like what she expected it to look like.
On one level, I get what they are trying to convey...Buicks don't look boring like they used to, but, for awhile I thought it was saying she thought her friends new Buick would look like an old Taurus!

2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
Mileage is about 36 mpg compared to 32 in MB......don't know if it is that much of a difference to really be concerned about. The good thing is it provides pretty good basic transportation with some nice refinements and extras for under $25k.

I went back to parking garage after picking up my wife at Brio just to take a picture
and look at the car again to see what it is. My first picture in the wild with the
camera and it seems a little like I shot through the car window. But the window was
down. I don't know if I have settings to change on the Android 4.4 camera or what.
OK...thought the back end said Masserati. McLaren? Owner better get close to a dealer service dept. He's going to need it.

Ain't that interesting.
Say, I need an opinion from the brain trust.

Seeing how it just (almost) crossed a bridge, I wouldn't be surprised if it hit ice.

I would change the oil if it has not been changed in the last 30-60 days. Water may have also gotten into the crankcase causing the oil to thicken. Just some guessing on my part - but definitely get the crankcase emptied and pit in the correct viscosity oil for the temp range right now.

and don't screw around. Get the battery now. it obviously was weak and on borrowed time, and draining and charging like that takes even more out of it.

I PUERCHHASEDD this car DUEE TO how beautiful it is and Porwerr, got a GRREEAT deal on it but now it;s time to goRemote Start, white LEATHHER interior, SPLIT bench (seats FIIVEE), TTINNTED windows, chrome pkg, 32 GALOON fuel tank, short box, White in color.
He usually starts with saying he bought the car because he liked the looks so much. He always goes Remote Start whatever that means. All the cars seem to have white leather interiors though the interiors look black. He always mentions the --GALOON fuel tank...who cares how many gallons and what car has a 32 galoon tank? What are TTINTED windows? How does a Lexus have a "short box?
More questions than answers. His cars look like they have been painted over. How does he sell them in such different places?

Yes, it's kind of a strange winter month just about everywhere. I noticed that some of the Hawaii flights from the Midwest and east coast are actually flying over far northern CA and Oregon to avoid weather, while the Atlanta and Dallas ones are hugging the Mexican border.

Hover mouse around top of draft and an "x" appears at right top, sort of like the

Still, I plan to replace it ASAP. I would much rather replace a battery on MY terms instead of having it strand me somewhere. Oh, I might be able to get another year out of it but why take the chance?
When I managed a large Sears Auto Repair facility I remember hearing that a Diehard would only last about three years in places like Las Vegas or Phoenix. Same applied to very cold places.

I must be really naive thinking those ads were placed by someone who doesn't spell very well. Does CL have a way to report those phonies? That's one reason I would find it hard to buy something like a car on the internet from an indie guy.
Sending money would be crazy.
