I am seriously looking at a G80 V8 Ultra. My budget allows for a $600 monthly payment with $2000 - $3000 due at signing. My thoughts are that they provide no-cost maintenance for 3 years and an extended warranty.

I won't be ready until the Fall of 2020 so I could be getting into a 2021 - depends on timing.

Are you following the leasing info on Edmunds for the G80?

Interesting difference in money factor between models. 3.2% vs .48% depending on trim level. I assume this reflects which ones they are trying to push at the moment.

Leasing gurus....how does the Genesis G70s 3.3T lease out? Good deal...bad deal?

Poorly historically. High 400s if you’re lucky. Mostly into the 500s. Haven’t checked recently though.

WOW, $600 a month !! I could never get away with a monthly like that. I remember paying cash for a couple cars because I didn't want to give Mrs. j monthly reminders that I bought a car she didn't think I needed.

FWIW, I hope you change your mind about buying a wannabe. Why do you want to steal some of my thunder ? What did I ever do to you. :@

I have a question for those of you who work from home exclusively, or almost exclusively.

Do you have a place at your office building (assuming there is one) and, if so, do you have to report there periodically?

The reason I ask is that my son works for Earths largest defense contractor and works from home. They live in MD and expressed an interest in moving back closer to family. I was wondering how that worked.

At one time Honeywell was all-in for work-from-home, and they had a huge contingent of people who did field service, supplier development and other functions for whom it was the only reasonable choice. Even those of us who were nominally assigned a desk in a cube, but did mostly internet meetings and/or travel, were "allowed" to work remotely. All that ended about four years ago, and everyone had to show up daily at a site, even if they never had to do so before. Chaos ensued, from the point of view of the employees affected; it was all good for those who just wanted to eliminate employees in North America. If you weren't willing to commute 80 miles a day when you'd never had to before, you were "let go."

Then, of course, there's the politics. If you aren't on-site to have "face time" with whomever needs to have their hem kissed, that can be a factor as well.

No, I'm not bitter, not at all. I started in 1968 and left in 2018, and all but the last few years were pretty decent.

I am from home 99.5% of the time. I go into the local office only for administrative stuff. I can reserve a desk or office if I need it. But I rarely do. My whole team is remote and not located in Seattle, so no point in going in.

He used to go in a lot, but it didn't seem to matter so he stopped. I told him a few years ago, when he was still relatively new, that when it was time for a promotion they may be more inclined to promote someone the have actually seen - in person. That didn't seem to matter either.

Nothing wrong with a G80, but I would find that hard to do. If it were me, and I was driving so little, I'd get the 2014 C300 with 39k miles on it for $14000. For $600 a month is would be paid off in 2 years......and it has everything including a BU Cam. :p

I am only kidding a bit, but it does make one think. I feel like the C250 is like a new car. If you can afford the $600 a month and you like the G-Car go for it.

I was just thinking, that is what I did for years. My office was in Boston and I was out in the field. I worked from home except a few times a year when the bosses conducted hem kissing meetings which were a waste of time. It was exactly as you described, the field people were not understood or appreciated. At one meeting some bozo in a three piece suit was telling me how he expected me to measure up to this exemplary employee who had the best numbers. He didn’t even realize he was talking about me.

Thanks for reminding me how much I don’t miss that.

My entire team has dedicated work space in one of our buildings. However my team managers and myself work remotely 2 days per week and I individual contributors 3 days per week.

There are some in the group who have dropped subtle hints to go to desk sharing to further reduce the treks into the office but I'm not in favor of it nor is space an issue. Some of my service partners however only need to report in quarterly.

Of course, then you have the wannabe badge:

Have to even copy the badge.

That puny badge on the bottom is a pretty poor attempt at badge copying.

Only in your mind, everyone else knows who copied whom. :p

We are under a "Tornado Watch" until 5:00 AM tomorrow morning. Winds expected to be between 50-60 mph as a trough of low pressure approaches from the northwest. I can't remember ever being on such a long period of time for a tornado watch here in southeast Florida.

Well...maybe. Mercedes used the 3 point star from 1909 while Mitsubishi didn’t come up with their 3 diamond logo until 1914 but long before that Mitsubishi was a ship builder which put a three diamond logo on all it’s ship flags. About 40 years ahead of Mercedes.

C'mon man, you can't spin it like that. Weren't you listening when we were told who copied who?

I am from home 99.5% of the time. I go into the local office only for administrative stuff. I can reserve a desk or office if I need it. But I rarely do. My whole team is remote and not located in Seattle, so no point in going in.

I’ve been a remote worker for 20+ years. There’s an office at our HQ with my name on a nameplate outside the door. But, whenever I go there (which is maybe 2-3 times/year), everyone around the office looks at me like I’m an interloper. Plus, there’s nothing on the walls. Just a screen, keyboard and mouse sitting on an empty desk looking forlorn. LOL!

My office phone is a cell (Android). My laptop is an HP running windows. I have a printer, desk, keyboard, mouse, monitor, pics on the wall and a view out my window of the woods in my back yard. I like it that way.

I have another cell phone for all my personal stuff (iPhone). My personal laptop is a MAcBook Air. And, when I just need access to emails, I use my iPad as my travel computer.

So, I have one foot in the Android and Windows environment and another in the Apple ecosystem.

Q...thanks for looking up the lease parameters on both Kias and Genesis. Looks like if I’m going to dip my toes back into the leasing pool, neither will be on my radar. If I decide to buy outright, the Stinger GT is still selling for around $40K on a $50K+ MSRP.

I've always known my place. My problem is I haven't always stayed there. All you have to do is ask any of my bosses and I do mean ANY of them. :'(
