    OK...makes sense.
Remember how I say a car crashes into a house almost every day in the Tampa area. We probably get less than one a month at home. This one was caught on a security camera, must have been going 80 when he flew through the air right into the house. It was a rental car...a new Camaro....I also find those little windows aren't safe.

I took the Accord in for service today. I was expecting to have the front brake pads replaced and rotors resurfaced as I was told at my last service those pads were getting thin yet the back brake pads were fine. Today, to my dismay, I was informed I needed both front and rear pads. I asked about why the rears were now needed as they we’re fine 6k ago. Well someone made a mistake on the report. I really can’t complain. After 6 1/2 years and 95k the original brake pads went the distance. Oil change, brake fluid flush, brakes front and rear, $650 total. I thought that was fairly reasonable.

That's more than fair. I know someone that paid 350 bucks for a gallon water jug. :o

Would that be a U.S. gallon or a U.K. gallon?

Brought the wife's MKC in for oil change/tire rotation today.
Last time I was in for service, they said it would need soon and gave me a quote.
I asked them to quote them again and it looks like same 4 oem tires, mounting, balancing and 4 wheel alignment are close to $200 cheaper.
We will see when I bring it in on Thursday.

How come that car isn’t on your list?

I was looking for an Enterprise bar code sticker in the windshield. Weird thing is that’s a coupe in Florida while we have all the convertible Camaros up here.

OK, what’s your opinion of a dealer that sells cars with this statement:

“Recent Arrival! The Warehouse at Conshohocken located at 1223 Industrial Way, Conshohocken PA 19428 Unlike most dealers we keep all of our trade in vehicles from our New Audi sales, and then offer them to the public at or near dealer wholesale auction prices. We run all of our trade in cars through the shop and perform a Basic Safety Check Only. Give us a call we are happy to do a fresh walk around and answer any questions you may have about the car as you are on the phone! Our goal is to offer these cars at prices which are usually the least expensive or nearly the least expensive on the internet with very little mark-up, at or near wholesale price.”

Would you trust them. Sounds like they don’t do any reconditioning and pretty much sell them as is. One Car I was looking at was maybe $1000-1500 under comparables but had scuffs on the bumper unrepaired. Who knows what else they didn’t fix.

    Would you take a Chance?

So, this is a new Audi car dealer and they are saying they will sell you a trade in car that they haven't CPO's for a lower than average price. I think I would trust it in that you will probably save as you found out, $1000 to $1500 but you may be putting that much back into the car, in touch ups or maybe even something that should have been done. I would need some kind of warranty, not buying "As Is". But, if for example I traded in the C250, I can't think of anything that would have to be done to it.....why not buy it for the real wholesale price? They figure it goes to the auction, they'll get the same amount, the auction guy marks it up and makes a profit, why don't they sell it direct and make a small amount. Then again, what kind of dealer doesn't like making a profit on used cars...that is a real money maker?

On your signature line below your posts I only see a Fusion and a F-150. No mention of a MKC. I see a MKZ in your profile, is that your wife’s?

I’m guessing that the change in your profile never made it to the board.

Good points. A dealer in NY couldn’t sell a car without at least a 30day/1000 mike warranty. I wonder what the laws are in PA.

I’m trying to figure the logic of this business model. Granted, a dealer will get less money at an auction with fees and all but a car on the lot could hang around for months. Most dealers would want a 30% profit or $4-5k mark up for the trouble. Why not fix it up?

Seems too good to be true. That makes me suspicious.

I know that dealer. It’s owned by Audi Wynnewood/Porsche of Conshohocken outside of Philly (formerly Don Rosen Porsche/Audi). The late model Porsches and Audis they can CPO go on those lots. Everything else goes to The Warehouse.

Everything else is as said. They price aggressively, and are very reputable, but they haven’t put anything other than basic safety checks into it. Most aren’t even detailed when they take pictures. In some ways I find the honesty refreshing because they aren’t hiding a thing - it’s on you to get the car checked out and make sure it is up to par.

Send it for a good PPI somewhere for a couple hundred and make sure you aren’t getting into a total mess. Seems like a nice car, though. Based on the damage I see in the pictures it doesn’t seem like they’re hiding anything...

We have a couple dealerships in the area that do that. I always thought it meant they offered cars that weren't worth reconditioning. When I looked at their so called wholesale prices, seemed far from it.

A car with a little body of paint damage wouldn't be bad. I wouldn't want anything that had a check engine light on, or mechanical repairs. Basic safety check? The brake pads haven't rusted off more than likely.

But, you never really know. My neighbor bought a used truck (maybe 5-6 years old), and had it inspected by a professional before he bought. A.month or two after he buys it, truck loses power of something...and he needs a $8,000 engine.

But no, I wouldn't be scared off from such cars.

8 grand for a 2011 car that only has 36,600 miles seems pretty good. I like those big Buick Lucernes. The interior looks mint. Looks to have a deep scratch around the headlight. No big deal. No regular oil changes in carfax, probably a diy'er. Had a lot of routine maintenance done at 30,000.

That does look like a bargain. I assume the cars are sold under the "Warehouse" name, not the Audi Dealership name. They are actually cutting out the auction and the used car dealers, and are saving you most of the profit those guys would make. Smart. If I saw a car I really liked and the price was considerably less, I would go for it, it is an interesting business model.

I once watched a "The Profit". These guys bought used cars at auctions, fixed them up and sold them to dealers. The Profit stepped in and said the dealers were making the biggest profit, why not fix the cars up and sell them ourselves......and have franchised dealers...make a profit on every car. Turned a losing business into a successful one.

Profile and signature are 2 separate entities.

that used car place sounds good to me. they do indicate they run them through "the shop". Considering they are part of a high end dealer chain, I doubt they are going to try and sell dangerous junk. If there is something obvious (rusted out frame, massive oil leaks, excessive smoke) they will dump it elsewhere. Really does not take much to see if the car is basically sound.

and I don't mind that they show them as received. Better you know, then pay top dollar for a fright pig that a master detailer polished up to make it look like a creampuff.

seems like a pretty good deal on this one. and again my favorite color combo. No sports seats though. But I might be in the minority that the base seats don't actually bother me. Not that i have ever driven long distance in them.

I wouldn’t worry, @jmonroe1 Cataract surgery (at least the laser kind) is so much better than even a few years ago. Good luck!

Has nothing to do with light - I just see a blur when I try to read with my right eye and it's too early to get "readers" glasses since my left eye would see a blur. Quite frustrating
Mike, I can sympathize. After my retinal detachment surgery I developed a cataract in the same eye. I had to wait till the oil bubble in the post-vitrectomy eye resolved to have the cataract extraction done. It took about three months in total to be able to see well enough to read and go back to work. In total this was a very frustrating experience. Audiobooks and listening to music helped me through much of this.

Ultimately the issues will resolve and you will be able to read and function normally - all the best to you!

@carnaught ....same here. Couldn’t have the cataract surgery until my retina detachment surgery was done. That took 3 months.

Still, glad that I had the cataract surgery done. My DO actually gave me a set of glasses temporarily gave me two different lenses with different corrections that allowed me to read, drive, watch TV until I had the other eye done.

Mike, once you get the other eye done, you’ll be so glad you had it done. Ask your OD to see what correction you can get for readers. You can get something from Walgreens for about $10-$20 that will help.
He suggested +2.5 readers, but I will still have the same problem except I could read with the right eye but the left eye would be blurry
That would work....just take the lens out of the side you’ve already had surgery on. That’s what I did. Worked until I got the other eye done.

Whoa. A Galaxy 8 cellphone? IIRC you said you had earlier a basic phone without internet connection.

    This is a step up.

I wonder if you use your cellphone flashlight you might be able to read with the right eye. I also have 20/20 vision now but I can’t read in low light situations. A good tradeoff for me as I was very nearsighted before.

If I take the lens out of the right side of the readers, I still would have a problem reading (right eye was operated on - foresighted in that eye). I could take the lens out of the left side - the eye that is nearsighted - that might work. Still have 8 weeks before surgery.

Thanks, that’s important to know that they are reputable. Could be a place to pick up some bargains.

    This one caught my eye.

Edmunds says $9500 in clean condition.
Personally I dont see much different from you buying from an individual. Do they have some sort of return policy that would give you time to have a mechanic give it a look over?

Looks like a pretty decent price for that Buick.

What happens if you buy a car from Warehouse Dealer, and you find out it was a flood car? My guess is you sign you are buying "as is", with no recourse. Might want a CARFAX before buying....and a visit to a mechanic.

    @oldfarmer50,
    What does this mean?

How come that car isn’t on your list?

On your signature line below your posts I only see a Fusion and a F-150. No mention of a MKC. I see a MKZ in your profile, is that your wife’s?

I’m guessing that the change in your profile never made it to the board.
    Showing for me !

So far how do you like your MKZ overall and compared to your Fusion?

    @sda,
Even though I've had the MKZ over 3 months, I haven't driven it very much(< 1700 miles).
I definitely like the larger turbo engine and the heated steering wheel.
Occasionally turn on the lane keeping feature, but haven't tried the adaptive cruise.
Have kept the suspension in normal mode and haven't tried any of the sport settings.
Mileage is quite a but less, so far, but I'm sure it will get better as it breaks in and the weather warms up.
Haven't had that bonding road trip yet.

As I mentioned not too long ago I bought like new OEM floor mats for the Accord from Ebay. I only needed one but ended with with the complete set. I was waiting to put them in until I had the car serviced which I did yesterday. Didn't want to chance grease or oil to soil them. Looks much better.

the key hole? That is for when you valet. Can turn that and it locks out the trunk release. they have the same thing for the fold down seat releases for the back seat and glove box. And a valet key that opens the doors and starts the car, but does not open the trunk or glove compartment.

On the Sonata there is a little switch on the lock mechanism in the trunk that disables the trunk release. No sure how that would work on the BMW.

well, with so many people switching to CUVs, becomes a moot point. I have my own way of dealing with it. I never valet.
