Usually you can buy extended warranties after you buy the car....up to 12 months after, on an MB you can buy it just before the warranty has expired...though it costs more. If I was to buy an EW, I would probably wait to make sure I will be keeping the car, and another factor is how reliable the car seems to be. Too many things can change between now and 150000 miles, and I bet odds of people keeping a car that long from new are pretty low.
Posted on CCBA. I had some time to myself this afternoon after work. I washed, compounded, & waxed my Prelude. Monday will be it’s 18th birthday with me.

@jipster - understand, that if you decide to cancel, it will be credited against your loan balance, and not returned as a check to you.
Just means your last few payments will likely not need to be made.
Thx. Yeah, read that after I had posted. That would be fine, though not very sporting of Honda World.
I think that's just a company-wide policy. My guess is that's not specific to Honda World.
If they refunded the cost directly to you, your LTV ratio would change on the loan, possibly putting you into a different credit tier. It's a finance thing.
I think all extended warranties are like that. I got talked into one once — can’t even remember which car — I think Nissan. Cancelling worked the same way.
Is the $1600 extended warranty real Honda Care or some 3rd party plan? The last time I looked at Honda Care 8 years and 120,000 miles was the max coverage.
Yes, its a Honda Care extended warranty. The finance officer said it was "new" that Honda offered such an extended warranty. 9 years/150,000 miles bumper to bumper.
Interesting that Honda is apparently offering 150,000 mile warranties now, which means that they are trying to design their cars to last past that without having major repairs. I didn't know Honda went beyond 120k. Do GM, Ford, BMW, Audi, etc. offer in-house extended warranties for 150k? Does Toyota even offer an extended warranty that long?
Perhaps ironically, the fact that Honda offers a 150k warranty makes me think that it might be a good bet to "self insure" and go without one even while keeping the car to very high miles.
My brother just bought a 2020 Kia Sorrento. His warranty is only 7 years/100k miles bumper to bumper for 2 grand.
Did he get it used? I thought Hyundai was offering the same warranty I got on my Kia.....10yr/100K miles on power train and 5yr/60K miles bumper-to-bumper.
He bought the vehicle new. I thought is was for.7 years.
I believe Hyundai’s warranty is the same as my Kia’s.....5yr/60K miles bumper-to-bumper and 10yr/100K miles drivetrain.
Just got a text from my son in CA. He just bought a house in Indian Springs on the west side of Indio CA. 3 bedrooms with club amenities. One of his clients holds the mortgage at 0% interest. $350,000. I am so proud of him - remember 5 years ago he had a malignant brain tumor - proton radiation finally was successful in getting it. My heart is filled with joy for him.

makes his payments I guess? would be interesting to see the terms. Possible that it is not worth that much on the open market, so instead of taking a loss on it, the real RoR on it could be higher than taking lower price and investing the money at negligible interest.
@abacomike, Isn't your son a personal trainer or something like that? How is that going with the current business closures/distancing requirements?
He does in-home private client at the client's home. Heavy duty masks are used. Most of his clients are millionaires and live in huge estates and country clubs. He has done very well for himself these last 2 years, thank the Lord!

The client has taken my son under his wing, so-to-speak. Most of his clients are not only very wealthy, but are retired. Remember, he lives in the Palm Springs, Palm Desert, La Quinta, Rancho Mirage and Indian Wells area of the Coachella Valley in the low desert. Most Hollywood and Sports pros own winter homes in that area.

Actually, I love that series "Ozark"! As to whether the client is in some sort of salacious business dealings is unknown to me. But it sure was magnanimous of him go do that for my son. He's been one of my son's clients for over 10 years.
My trainer has a mix of clients. We are doing FaceTime workouts at home. A few come to his garage/gym. He goes to some clients’ homes as your son’s clients do. It’s still a big disruption but he is making do. I imagine less established trainers are having a pretty rough time.
On another topic, Instacart seems to have smoothed out its problems here. My last 2 deliveries were easy to schedule, shopping was pretty non-eventful and everything arrived in a timely manner.

Mrs D100 went for the $10 discount Instacart gave us for canceling our order. I wouldn't have gone back to them...figured we would lose another $150. However, they did come through....got a few items wrong but not too bad. My least favorite way to get groceries.
After trying a few times to get slots at our local grocer for curbside pickup and finding nothing we just go in. I have noticed shelves previously devoid of TP, soap, pasta etc are now mostly stocked albeit with limits still in place for TP.

I keep getting a mailed solicitation from the Honda dealer where I bought the Accord stating I am probably out of warranty (really??, the car is almost 7yrs old and they have all the service records showing the mileage at 97K) and I should consider an extended warranty. I can only imagine how much it would cost and how little it would cover.

I saw something yesterday (probably on the TV news) that Instacart was trying to hire some huge number of people. 100,000? something really big.
something for all the out of work Uber drivers maybe. they are used to driving around all day and finding people's houses!
Instacart hiring 300000, business up 400%. We didn't know whether to tip or not. Just read an article, should give larger tips for grocery and take out food than normal, delivery people are putting their lives in harms way...and saving us from being exposed. Instacart people actually go to the store, gather the items, go through a cash register and deliver the items. Not many washrooms available these days....some saying they make about $5 an hour. They really deserve a tip!

I get the phone calls for EWs but I also get these official looking letters in the mail. They try to make it look like it comes from the manufacturer. It says something like, "the warranty on your 2013 Passat is expired, please call immediately to extend the warranty on your car". Like I am going to trust these scam guys...I can imagine what I would have to go through to make a claim.

Lexus jumped on that road 5-7 years ago. Now another home to anime styling with Nike swooshes and creases, a reaction to being called "boring" 20 years ago.
My idea of how a car should look. That may be a classic someday. Very odd how some car makers lose their way over the years. Nissan for example. I also think that Lexus may be on that road.
wife drove her new car today to take a run to Target. First time in 5 weeks she drove. Apparently (according to the princess who went with her) she pretty much forgot how it works already.
All those warranty solicitations mean is someone sold your name to some company for marketing purposes.
I think they get the names from the license bureaus or something. They have too much information about kind of car and they know when the warranty is up.
To be fair, there’s a tech learning curve with new vehicles nowadays. I went back to our Buick dealer 2 or 3 times because the phone pairing was not intuitive and I kept forgetting the steps.

We go for a drive about 3 times a week, just to get out but still be able to self isolate. A friend said you shouldn't be doing that. btw, the fine for being too close to someone, strolling in a park or on a golf course, being on a public trail, playing basketball, etc is $830. I checked and technically there is no rule against driving around, but, they are hoping you only drive to pick up groceries, or to a drug store...just essentials. For one thing, if you are in an accident, there will be emergency workers exposed, hospital facilities being used, cops coming to do paperwork etc. Can't even take the car out to charge the battery and blow some carbon out of it!

Just got an email from Edmunds saying it was a good time to buy a 2019 model. BEST BUYS 2019 MODELS They list cars that you can probably get a good deal on, as these are models that have a lot still on hand...some cases a 50 day supply. They chose cars that didn't change much between 2019 and 2020. The list includes; Audi Q7, Chrysler 300 (I always wondered why we have never had someone at C&C who has owned one - you would think it would make a good used car at least) , F-150, Honda Fit, HRV and Ridgeline (surprised 3 Hondas in a row), Sonata, RAM 2500, Hylander Hybrid, and Golf GTI (cost of a new one went up and the warranty was decreased). No Honda Accords thank goodness
this was her first time since 3/20. I mostly go out for the weekly chores, and if she goes it was with me and I always drive when we are together.
We really need a nice road trip at this point. Get the car a run, and get the heck out of this house! we are going up to Albany in mid-June to help our son with his new house before he has to move in. Hopefully the restrictions are lifted by then, but I don't really care since we are going anyway. But I really want to tag a run up to Vermont onto the trip if possible. That is 2 months from now so crossing my fingers we are allowed to leave the house by then. Just have to remember to pack coolers with all the food and drink we can possibly need. Might not be able to stop along the way. Bathroom breaks could be a bit dicey these days too! Really need to plan ahead now.

I saw that too....and a lady in our city took her dog to an empty golf course across the street from her house. She got the same fine. Those should be at most warnings....with an explanation for the guy with a dog in the apartment...you can't keep a dog isolated!
A good chance we will be wearing masks for awhile when things start to return to normal. How do you wear a mask and go to a restaurant? Maybe a small slit in the mask.......only tiny morsels of food served.
