Scotty will post anything to get clicks.
Similarly, driver100 will post anything to raise his number of them.

Yeh, I wish I got paid for every post I make.

I don't want to upset people so I won't put the link up, but if you want to see what Scotty says about getting long lasting wiper blades, go to youtube and put in Scotty The Best Wiper Blades in the World and Why.

Scotty is also a fanatic fan of Toyota products so what’s everyone’s opinion of this basic appliance? I’ve been following this for a few weeks and they reduced the price twice in $500 increments. Edmunds says dealer price is $12,450. Covid 19 bargain? Still a thousand or two higher than comparable Ford or Chevy...worth it?

Are you joking? My 2014 C250 with only 34k miles on it is worth the same amount....and it is far from being an appliance.

Your car is one of those where intrinsic value exceeds market value. I think this is the case for many depreciated premium brand cars, and older cars. My fintail is the same way, the pleasure derived from the car is more than the market value. A friend of mine's mom has something like this too: 06 CLK350 cabrio, original owner, always garaged etc, ~60K on it. Maybe a 10K retail car today, on a good day - but the enjoyment it provides on a pleasant day is much greater.

It's one of those things. And, it it had the normal mileage......about 70000 miles on it....it wouldn't be worth that much less.
We traded in a 2013 Passat after 3 years with 11000 miles on it, and got $11400 for it - they probably sold it for $14 or $15K. Someone can buy a practically new car - miles wise for $15k ....that is a real bargain.

Scotty needs to be banned from here. PC. I watched the wiper blade video.

So many scientifically untrue, untested statements. LOL. He even throws in some conspiracy theory about how the stores don't want to sell them because they wouldn't get to make smaller profits per time from selling many more inferior rubber wiper blades more often to the unsuspecting public. That's right there next to the 100-miles per gallon carburetor some car company hid away after buying the patent for it back in the 50s.'

    This guy's awful.

Camry looks nice enough if you want a basic car. Should last forever and be cheap to keep. And with those miles, probably a great Uber candidate (if Uber still exists?)

Of course there's always the risk the Camry will kill its driver- boredom can be fatal.

No interior pics of that Camry unless I missed something. Hopefully it isn't trashed. But a silver over gray cloth Camry is likely the most anonymous car you can find, good if you are planning a bank robbery or other illegal activities.

or driving an Uber for a living. I recall getting a cab some years back at O'hare, and it was a well used Camry. I think I peeked and it had a ton of miles on it, but still ran smooth and was perfectly comfortable. Combine that with good gas mileage and plenty of room, and hard to think of a better UberMobile.

Actually though.....I thought this one made a bit of sense, and in it he says or alludes to that he actually has a Masters Degree from the University of Illinois:

You could put it on Craigslist down in Florida. I don’t think I could get one of those $49 airfare specials to fly down. I’m sure there are a few old rich guy wannabes down there that wouldn’t mind the maintenance costs. The Camry would probably be cheaper to run.

By combining a variety of incentives, he could save nearly enough money to cover the cost of ending his current lease early. So he contacted a nearby dealer in Coconut Creek.

Yes, that was me! The guy called me a couple of weeks ago and interviewed me.

Funny thing, though, is that the manager at my dealership mentioned to me how great the article was and thanked me for the "plug"!
Does that mean he'll get your wipers fixed before you get interviewed for the next issue of Yohoo News?

I’ve got lots of useless half-formed opinions, so I’d probably give youtube a shot as a self-proclaimed gearhead if I didn’t have this constant fear of being found by people I don’t want finding me.

I shouldn’t admit it, but I kind of like the YT prank videos- like the one demonstrating how to clean a turbo and valves by feeding a steady supply of sand into the intake or supposedly adding a headphone jack to an iPhone 7 by drilling a hole into it.

Back in the old Town Hall days(in my previous identity) a wingnut on the 5 Series board was asking how to get a manual E39 540i to run from 0-60 in under 6 seconds.

I replied, "Do a couple of bleach burnouts first-you need to really warm up the tires. Then, hold the revs steady at @6500 rpm and sidestep the clutch. Works every time."

That was the last we heard from him...

well, that's pretty much what the car magazines do, so makes sense.

for some reason I got thinking the other day about how my TLX is about the last of the "old school" cars in the premium/luxury segment. No turbo, no funky engine gimmicks (cylinder deactivation or auto stop/start). and at least in the 4 banger version, a normal shift lever. only relatively new tech is the DCT but that has been around for a while. Basically just functions like a traditional car! And probably makes it a good bet if you want to keep it for a decade + and high miles.

    That’s my thinking exactly.

I just watched the end of the NASCAR race, looked weird seeing no spectators in the stands.

    I watched the whole race.

With the decline in attendance, I didn't really notice a difference.

and they can easily CGI in a crowd and crowd noise. Especially in racing where you really don't get a clear look at the crowd anyway, unless they do a close up shot. During the race it just blurs past.

The spoofers were actually in the top rows of the grandstand, so they could spread out.

Nice to see you back Verdugo. That article sounds like our Mike. I wonder if he knows they used his story?
The dealer might lock him out after revealing how he ripped them off! :o

Thank you. If you were in Tampa when this whole craziness started, I hope you made it back to Canada safely.
Thanks for asking. We were scheduled to fly back March 28th, but got an earlier flight March 14. Everything was closed down anyway, the border was getting harder to get across, we would be closer to no cost medical care if needed. Fortunately, it probably worked out for the best. Tickets to get back were $330 each...next day they were $930!

Still a thousand or two higher than comparable Ford or Chevy...worth it?
    .
Are you joking? My 2014 C250 with only 34k miles on it is worth the same amount....and it is far from being an appliance.

(Note...I cropped me out of the picture)
Is that $11k your trade-in value? Trade-in on that Camry is only around $8k.
It is trade-in....that is one way of looking at it though. If that is what they will give me I could easily sell it to you for about $12000....I would make a few $100s, and you would have a pretty nice car for $12k, still less than a 2012 appliance.
You could put it on Craigslist down in Florida. I don’t think I could get one of those $49 airfare specials to fly down. I’m sure there are a few old rich guy wannabes down there that wouldn’t mind the maintenance costs. The Camry would probably be cheaper to run.

You seem anxious to unload that car, is there something wrong with it?
The C250 is in perfect condition....I don't know of anything wrong with it. The thought has gone through my mind that if this virus doesn't end, we might not get back to Florida.....have to sell one house and one car.

Good point. If I need good factual information I can just go online and find it :p
