Oh yes, Merry Christmas everyone (who partakes). Winter Solstice arrived on Dec 21st, and we celebrated the shortest day of the year...of a long, long, long, very long year.
OK today is Christmas Eve and so far this year there has been no snow and it looks like there won't be until at least early January. It's because I bought a snow blower, I know its because I bought a snow blower.

And all years are the same length as well, approximately 365 1/4 days. Slightly under IIRC.

Except this one seemed longer than most...because we couldn't do as much. @mjfloyd1 Some might still say it is the shortest day (time) of the year, and the longest night (time).

Paid $3.09 tonight at Cumberland Farms using my $.10/gallon discount card. That was for regular unleaded. Hey, will take what I can get! This is in South Florida just north of Ft. Lauderdale.

The 21st is my birthday. It is not the shortest day of the year. It is the day with the least amount of sunlight. All days are the same length.
See "pedantic"
In any event, happy belated birthday. People who have birthdays close to another major holiday have a special cross to bear, so to speak. It can manifest itself in any number of ways.

My wife’s is Christmas Day. We do some stuff to try and separate it, but that’s never easy.
It's a little late to be bringing home a tree but Santa may still need his own since he was busy getting presents and lumps of coal to everyone else!
I especially like the front license plate and the pun on "sleigh."
Car looks like an Oldsmobile?
It most certainly is, a 1970 4-4-2.
You forgot the poem that goes with it, so here it is.
AN OLDSMOBILE CHRISTMAS by Karl Sup (1994)
'Twas the night before Christmas and in the garage, there was nary a trace of a Ford or a Dodge.
The presents were wrapped and the lights were all lit, so I figured I'd mess with the Olds for a bit.
I threw open the door, and oh! what a sight, as the 4-4-2 bathed in a wondrous light. Its hood scoops did snarl as they came into view, with their broad rallye stripes of a sinister hue.
As I twisted the pins on the fiberglass hood, a deep voice behind me said, "Looks pretty good!" Well, as you can imagine, I turned mighty quick, and there, by the workbench... stood good ole Saint Nick!
We stood there a bit, not too sure what to say, then he said, "Don't suppose that you'd trade for my sleigh?" I said "No way, Santa!" and started to grin, "But if you've got the time we could go for a spin!"
His round little mouth, all tied like a bow, turned into a smile as he said, "Ho! Ho! Ho!!" So as not to disturb the neighbors' retreat, we pushed the car quietly into the street.
Then, taking our places to drift down the hill, I turned on the key and let the clutch spill. The sound that erupted took him by surprise, but he liked it a lot, by the look in his eyes.
With tires a'chirping and trumpets aglow, we headed on out where the hot rodders go. And Santa's grin widened, approaching his ears, with every shift up as I went through the gears.
Then he said, "Can't recall when I've felt so alive!" So I backed off the gas and said, "You wanna drive?" Ol' Santa was stunned when I gave him the keys, when he walked past the headlights he shook at the knees!
With the 455 rumbling Oldsmobile sounds, Santa let out the clutch and it pounded the ground! Power shifting to second, and again into third, I sat there just watching, at a loss for a word.
Santa slid through the gears on this radical sleigh, as this high octane ride made my hair turn to grey. Then I heard him exclaim as we blasted from sight, "Merry Christmas to all, it's an Oldsmobile night!!"

I am still in the hospital - first Christmas I’ve not been with family and/or friends for the holidays - somewhat depressing.
Started walking and sitting up. Seems to be a little better. Just hoping for the best.
MERRY CHRISTMAS🎄🎅 to all of you!
I spent Christmas in the hospital after complications following my open-heart surgery in 2009 with a chest tube in my side. The place had partly emptied out so things were quiet, and they did the best they could do to provide a Christmas dinner and a bit less of a clinical atmosphere. Not the best place to be, but not the worst all things considered.

Thanks for adding the poem. I didn't see it on the place where I found the picture.
Since the barn Chevy restoration was mentioned here, I'll post this barn picture. It made me think of the touching, poignant advertisement/ 4-minute video.
I had to search to find what year this Olds was: 1946. Wow. It's almost as old as I am.

Pretty chintzy decorating job....now this car is decorated;
I bought a new tennis racquet on EBay today. The guy wanted $110 (brand new and usually sell for $150 to $200). I put in a bid of $80. He came back with $99.99. I was considering going $90 and I decided to sleep on it, since I had 48 hours to submit a bid or reject his offer. I decided that it was such a good deal, I'd give him the $99.99 and not risk losing it over $10. There was one person watching. So, I got me a new tennis racquet, that should arrive in about 8 to 10 days. That was a Christmas gift to myself!
