Interesting take on fatality statistics I hadn't seen anything similar to this before. I would like people in the States of Washington and Iowa to explain the blood bath and carnage slow speed driving causes? Actually, I'd like all 50 States to explain it, because it shows what I've been saying all along, speed and fatalities have no correlation. It's all over the place, and it depends on OTHER factors!

A worthwhile thing to watch is "Carlos Ghosn: The Last Flight" on Prime. It is a English (BBC)-French-Japanese production with full participation from Ghosn and his wife, Greg Kelly, the American former Nissan exec who is still trapped in Japan and seems like a broken man, and many others who were involved in the whole mess. It presents a very different story from what was originally reported in the media on the case. Ghosn's take on it is that it was cooked up by Nissan execs and the Japanese govt in response to a real or perceived risk of the French govt via Renault taking a bigger ownership stake in that company and exerting more control over Nissan as a result. His tale of how he got spirited out of the country is worthy of a caper movie.
The sense that Nissan conspired with their allies in the Japanese govt does seem to ring true based on what is shown, though the Japanese legal system is stacked heavily in favor of the state and seems deeply flawed compared to what we know here. Combine that with certain aspects of Japanese culture and his story at least seems plausible. But nobody seems to have won in this sorry affair. I know I would never buy a Nissan product after watching this.
Also on my watch list. Thanks for reminding me. Also agree that Nissan (Infinity) has seemingly lost their way. Can't think of one vehicle in their stable that would get me to either brand's showroom.
JMonroe found that a black Altima was a real chick magnet
I drove an Altima rental last time we were in Florida. It was a decent car in a pedestrian sense, nothing overly special but you could do worse for more money.

I wouldn't say it depends on other factors, what I would say is that it is only one of several factors.

The 400Z is the only Nissan that interests me, and I suspect you won’t be able to buy one at or below MSRP for at least 18 months.
Well it’s fast enough even by your standards, but is it a handler? I haven’t looked into it but I’d bet it’s a porker.
I just escaped the cold northern OldFarmer land after 4 days. No real snow, just a dusting but got some ice last night. Thankfully it warmed up enough this AM to soften it up on the car. But the RDX is now filthy after driving a couple hours on the highway with a steady film being sprayed all over it from the salt and sand they put down. Badly needs a trip to the carwash if it isn't going to be warm enough tomorrow to DIY it.
spray it off yourself bay only of course, to get the bad grunge off (and up underneath as best as possible)
Thank you for taking some of our salt with you. Just imagine a bunch of hungry piranhas eating the metal until you wash it off.
nice southern weather today. Hit 50, so got a real wash in the driveway. All the salt and grime is gone.

Been a crazy weather week. Warm and off and on rain. Took a nice long bike ride today on the boardwalk. Started to rain out of nowhere when we got back.

We’re getting close to 50 with rain this weekend so that should clean things up. Driving in the rain is my lazy way of cleaning off the undercarriage.

I refuse to share our weather here in South Florida - it will only aggravate my friends here on Edmunds!
Then again, aggravating my friends is one thing I am good at…
Over the past week, daytime temps have been in the 80’s and evening temps in the high 60’s and low 70’s. The forecast is for continued warm humid days in the mid 80’s through Sunday with a cold front coming through on Monday - which means cloudy, windy and rainy Monday and Tuesday with temps in the 60’s and 70’s. 😜🤪🤓

Maybe I am crazy, but FL can have it, warmth doesn't make up for the crazy. I like distinct seasons - so far the winter here (we are at "6" on that map) has been pleasing - a few bad driving days, but snow has been on the ground for more than a couple days, unlike last winter. Reminds me of Columbia Basin winters when I was a kid, which seemed snowy from late November through February - for whatever reason one may prefer, most winters here have been gentler over the past 20 years or so. So far, 21-22 feels like a 1980s winter.

I don't know, there are crazies but it sure was nice eating my slow cooked ribs with a strawberry-guava BBQ glaze with french fries and coleslaw Jr Basket 13.99 | Full Basket 18.99 on a patio, overlooking the beach and the Manatee River on an 80F day. I am OK with 4 seasons, summer spring and Fall in the North, and winter here, where people think I-75 is a race track, and the idea is to weave in and out in order to get ahead.

Last time I was on I-75 in Florida I didn't have to weave. Returning from Orlando we merged onto I-75 off the toll road and the far left lane of I-75 was solid cars, the middle lane was also solid cars but the right lane was void of cars.

What kind of sissy BBQ sauce is “strawberry-guava”? The only way to eat ribs is with hot BBQ sauce. That place must be owned by a Canadian.
BTW, fries and coleslaw are good sides for BBQ ribs.

Don't knock it until you try it! At least I got the full rack so I wouldn't have to order the "Jr" size - a half rack. Also, the name of the place is Whiskey Joes, so you don't have to worry about your image.
Happy/Merry to all! Paid $3.46 PUG Costco today, filled up for our now cancelled trip to Mohegan Sun Casino. Beach Boys cancelled the NYE concert, luckily my tix were free. And, Orbitz refunded my non-refundable hotel room; Merry Xmas to me!
Wife and I have continued to dodge Covid; 16 yo niece tested positive the day after we left their home in NJ. Wife's mom and niece showed same symptom's at the same time, but paranoid Mom refuses to test beyond the home test she (improperly, most likely. And intentionally...) took which showed negative. She'd rather not know, what you don't know can't hurt you...
Today, my son let me know that he and his GF tested positive, both have cold-like symptoms and feel OK otherwise. Of course, we spent XMas day with them. Perhaps they got it from MIL... Son's GF thinks it may have come from her boss. But, we seem to be OK, we had PCR test Xmas eve and took home test today, both negative. We're both boosted and masking indoors.
So, improved health to those on the mend, continued good health to those who maintain it; happiness and sanity to all!

did one of those improvements today that had unintended consequences. I got a pair of LED panel fixtures (they look like a mini communications satellite with 4 adjustable light wings) to replace the 2 very dim, low watt bulb. Just screw right into the light socket in the ceiling.
now, the garage is lit up like an operating room during a surgery. Incredible how much like these 2 little guys put out (for a total cost of about $22).
the problem? I can see every piece of dirt and imperfection out there. Starting to think being dark had advantages. Now I want to paint it all, replace the garage doors, and epoxy the floor. Though somehow, I think I will stop with sweeping it out good. But it does look dingy when it is empty (maybe the solution is not to turn on the lights unless it is full of cars).

Did you get them locally or online? I've been thinking about putting one in my garage.
So, got a call yesterday from the Cleveland Clinic (Cole Eye Institute). I had contacted them based on a recommendation from one of my golf buddies who went to school with one of the Drs there.
Anyway, they reviewed my records and accepted me as I may be a candidate for their Retina Team to restore some (all?) of my sight. Will be after the first of the year, but kind of excited.
Now that I re-read this post, probably the wrong place to post. But, keep it car related, if they’re successful, I promise to make a punch.
