Lexington KY got 10 inches yesterday . I75 was shut down for hours to clear the road from exit 104 to 115 causing backups for miles . There was a 40+ car and truck pileup on I64 about a half hour east of lexington with no injuries.
Many areas here have what looks like an inch of snow based on the whiteness on roads especially intersections. But it's only the salt they've piled on, just-in-case. Here in Dayton area snow flakes were scarce. Flurries had occurred farther south and east as snow went south and east of the area.
That’s the pattern around here, one inch of snow, two inches of salt.

So many cars to cause to rust away with the various salts, and so little time to do it in.

Guys I should have mentioned. The room that the GFCI for the outside outlets is in couldn’t be physically further away from the panel unless it was in another house. It makes zero sense as to why they would run a circuit clear across the home, junction into a box and then branch out to four outside outlets.
What I’m not sure is what else may be on that line before the GFCI. It could be some other outlets in the basement.
Turn the breaker off and you’ll know what else may be on that circuit. If you don’t know what breaker it is you can always resort to the brute force method of finding it like I do. You don’t think I’m going to go down to the garage countless times from the second floor to find the circuit I’m working on if I don’t want to work it hot, do you? Nope, I ain’t doing that. I just purposely short the hot wire to the neural or to the ground wire. Sure, you’ll get a spark but you’ll trip the breaker and then you’ll know what that breaker controls.
I know a few of you guys wouldn’t dare do that but it beats the hell out of running up and down steps from the second floor to the garage/basement to find the circuit you’re working on.

I’ve done that short trick. With the new arc fault breakers you can actually just touch a ground to neutral.

We’re lucky, I guess, in NY where they don’t fail inspection for rust. Makes for some pretty interesting hoopties.

Don’t get me started with arc fault breakers. They are a PITA. They are now code for new work in flip houses. So far out of 20 new circuits that we’ve installed 3 arc fault breakers have gone bad. They cost about 35 bucks compared to 10 bucks for standard breakers. They seem to be even more temperamental that GFCI receptacles with spurious trips. We had a thunderstorm this past summer and 4 arc fault breakers tripped and there was no load on any of those circuits. 1 of those failed completely. No, I am not a fan of those.

The secret to the arc fault breaker problem is to have a few installed in order to pass the inspection then to remove them and replace with another type, and then take the arc faults to the next job for inspection time. Then rinse and repeat.

I don't know what the state used on their route, but it's a pretty big hill, and at 14 F, yesterday morning, the water was running down the road, like it was raining. Salt must have been treated with something.

OK, here’s a new scam that I never conceived of and I might have actually fallen for.
We recently put our house and property into a trust to protect it from whatever may come. As part of that process the title was transferred to the trust.
The other day I get an official looking document which said “recorded deed notice” which I assumed cam from the county clerk. It had the details on our property and requested a $98 “service fee”.
At first I was going to pay it but then I reread the letter carefully and saw it was from some private company offering to give me a “property assessment profile” whatever that is. In fine print on the back it said “this offer is not being made by the government”. Bingo! Scam.
These guys never give up.

The guy that owns the food truck was an expert chef who worked at an A-1 restaurant. He decided to go on his own, but didn't want to pay a huge amount for rent....so he decided to go with a food truck. He's in it because he loves to do it....and it shows. It's new, and he only has about a dozen reviews but they are all 5 stars.

My online friend Alison Martino of Vintage Los Angeles posted a sweet story about Bowie today. Her first job was as a receptionist at a PR firm in L.A. that had Bowie as a client. She had dealt with him over the phone from England and was smitten with him but then he came to L.A. and was extremely gracious and gentlemanly towards her in-person, which only made her even more taken with him as a young gal.

Nice. Arched door and windows. Not too far from where my daughter and son-in-law live. Seems like most properties, around me at least, are selling over asking price. Good luck!
Everyone is asked to wear a face mask (preferably N95 or KN95) while indoors whether vaccinated or not. It is still a real health issue. Omicron seems to be causing less lung issues and more upper respiratory issues but it seems that more kids are getting infected and needing to be hospitalized. The real problem is that it is so highly contagious but “only” 30% will need to be hospitalized. Thirty percent of all of us is a huge number.
It is so bad here that we are doing only emergency surgeries. The hospital is paying us to cover the Covid ICU to give the pulmonologists breaks from intubations, central venous lines and arterial lines. I’ve worked two days up in ICU and it sucks the soul out of you to watch someone die after you spent 45 minutes coding them and their wife who has been in the hospital every day for months is balling in the hallway outside the room as her 48 year old husband is declared dead.
It's not worth arguing with him; he has to catch our wonderful governor's daily Covid news conference for the latest news. He's vaccinated and boosted and STILL wears a mask and won't eat at an indoor restaurant. I'm glad I did not inherit the hypochondria and timidity that afflicted my mother's family.

@mjfloyd1 I give you a lot of credit, helping people who refuse to heed the warnings. Medical personnel have to put their lives at risk too, often unnecessarily because some don't follow the common sense rules. We are fortunate to have people like you helping to save lives during this crisis.
Thanks, everyone. I did not receive a reply on my offer, yet. I extended it for 72 hours because it’s the weekend. So, not sure why it’s taking so long. Maybe I’m impatient.
It’s 100+ years old, but has updated electrical, plumbing, etc. But, it’s still an old house and all that entails. It has a courtyard (which I like) and practically no yard (which I also like). A little apprehensive about renting part of it, but it’s set up to do just that, although it’s empty now. Figure the rental portion would more than cover taxes, upkeep and hopefully put some “walking around” money in my pocket in the process.
Nice area as @kyfdx points out, about 20 miles from where I live now, on the other side of the OH River.

If you come for the move but won't help, you need to buy the beer and pizza.
Also, you don't get to select either one. No frozen pizza, etc..
South is South. I like South but I just hope he doesn’t try to weasel us into a moving in party that starts off with us having to show up with a few U-Hauls. I doubt that @stickguy’s Maverick is going to be much help unless when we break for lunch he can go get the pizza and beer with it.

He’s not going to rent you his upstairs with that attitude.

Not as fancy as your food truck though, more of a picnic table on the edge of a corn field.
Hey, he leaves for Florida every fall so who knows, maybe it’s the same guy.

Can we not do this debate again please? Some of us have vaccinated and boosted family that are sitting in a hospital.

Happy Birthday to David Bowie. Rebel Rebel is my phone ringtone. My first day in court as the new Commonwealth's Attorney I forgot to silence my phone and it went off in the middle of an arraignment. Afterwards the defendant told me he liked my choice of music.
You can't make this stuff up.

@mjfloyd1 I give you a lot of credit, helping people who refuse to heed the warnings. Medical personnel have to put their lives at risk too, often unnecessarily because some don't follow the common sense rules. We are fortunate to have people like you helping to save lives during this crisis.

I don't care about explanations or need any replies. I'm not putting up with it.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Food trucks are awesome. Some seriously good eats at modest prices.

You mean we can’t talk about how the vaccine is just the aliens’ way of putting a tracker in you while also testing your blood to see if you might be one of their missing hybrids? What kind of commie outfit are y’all running here?!
