"Talking about paint is about as interesting as watching paint dry"
Sorry, I couldn't resist, maybe this sitting in an airport is getting to me.
Nah, you were long gone before yesterday.
Hope today is better for you. We’d hate like hell to hear you go off again.

So far....they haven't canceled my flight and it looks like an OK day for flying. I'm actually getting used to Starbucks coffee. I just got a tiny sandwich at the fancy place....$9.99, It's like sticker shock for me....I remember when a real hamburger was 25 cents and FFs were 10 cents, and were a lot better than this cold sandwich that was mostly a bun.
I can remember getting a cheeseburger and fries for 50 cents when I was a kid. This was a small place, much like a Dairy Queen, only not part of a chain. And a really good cheeseburger, too.
We have bought the best grade Home Depot paint almost exclusively so far but we have not been satisfied with how it covers with one coat. My Son decided to try the best grade Glidden paint at Home Depot just to see how that went for one room. It’s a little cheaper but not one bit worse as far as we can tell.
I don’t like painting and I’m willing to spend more (within reason) for a one coat coverage paint but don’t know what brand that would be.

I have read that HD paint is uniformly subpar. The Behr brand they promote is their in-house brand and supposedly overpriced in terms of its quality. I have never bought it though so I have no first-hand experience.
When I have painted in the past I had consistently good results with Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams higher grades. For a while Pratt & Lambert was considered very good paint but I have not heard much about them in recent years.
Funny, we've used Behr paint exclusively when we've repainted - both interior and exterior, and we've been pretty happy with the results.
We've talked about repainting the interior of our current house - it's currently got the builder-grade paint on it that is coming up on 6 years old. But, we aren't sure how much longer we'll be here, so we've been on the fence about the cost and inconvenience of getting it done.
I don’t get Consumers Report anymore so I don’t know how they rate Behr paint lately but for the longest time they thought it was very good and they like their deck stain too.
The day of the closing for flip #2 (I didn’t go) my Son went to the house when the buyers did their final walk through with their agent. When they got to the garage my Son said something like, “if you don’t want those open gallons of paint, I’ll take them”. The guy said, “sure I’ll take them and I see you bought the good stuff too, thanks”.
Behr has a good name and I give it credit for being able to be scrubbed a little to remove a smudge or two which is inevitable when you’re doing work around a house after you paint it but as long as you don’t expect it to cover in one coat you won’t be disappointed.

I was at Home Depot to get paint for the house I bought my daughter and grandkids after they moved. A sign said "Guaranteed to Cover in One Coat". I asked the girl behind the counter about it. She said they won't replace the paint if I am painting a very light color over a very dark color (which I was).
I told her the sign doesn't say that. She reiterated her comment. So I said that there is really no guarantee then.
Hopefully now @driver100 is finally back in Toronto. His plane may be the one that left at 7:30 pm, 3 hours late today.
You did a great job of tracking me.
I finally made it home, about 40 hours later than I thought.
Original flight was supposed to be Sat at noon, we left late, parked on the runway for 3 hours, came back, they were supposed to get us on a later flight, Air Canada canceled that and transferred us to a flight on Sunday at 4:30.
They boarded 2 hours late, at 6:30. No food or water on the plane, they claim they didn't have time. We sat in the plane for one hour before taking off. We landed at 10 p.m., and had to stay on the plane for one hour because they were short of customs agents. Got home at 12:30 a.m. I am totally exhausted. Good night guys!

I took a sleeping pill, and got 3 hours of sleep....that helps a lot.
We were told no planes could fly in or out for a long period of time, and I believe it was Southwest's computer that crashed. One lady was flying somewhere on Saturday, and they had to change her flight to Tuesday. One lady went back to her condo in St Petes....she rented a car for $150, for the day. I heard one week car rentals are $1000 to $1500.

On the news, it said TPA was one of the four airports with the worst delays. You are just lucky, I guess.
I much prefer St Petes or Sarasota when possible. They told us they didn't have enough baggage handlers around to load the planes quickly enough. I don't have a business degree but I don't think you should be selling airline tickets if you can't handle the load. And for sure, you should not be carrying passengers on a plane if you can't provide food and especially water. The other day TPA was very proud, it has been their best year yet....I don't know how happy the passengers are.

I can’t understand why the cop would not have at least taken out a tire. He has plenty of opportunity. If she had gone on to injure or kill someone, I bet they would not be commending him on his restraint.

If you mean taken out a tire by shooting, that’s not allowed in any eastern state that I’m aware of. Maybe you meant with spike strips. Most cities here even have a prohibition of continuing a chase if speeds go over a certain limit. A few years ago the police were chasing a speeder who accelerated to over 100mph and the police suspended the chase. The culprit kept speeding and crashed into an innocent motorist killing her.
The rules that the officer can only use his gun if they feel their life is in danger. She would have had to drive at him. There was a big kerfluffle locally a couple of years ago when a driver was shot and killed while trying to escape a similar situation, although closer to the officer.

In the last "accident" the 13 year old killed was in the stolen vehicle that crashed. They say he didn't know it was stolen. I'm not saying that isn't true.....but how do they know that? Also, it was a tragedy because he sounds like a good kid and even if it was stolen he didn't deserve to die in the accident, just wondering how the family came to that conclusion. I watch Judge Judy.

There has been an increase in young teens stealing cars in my area. What about somebody else's life? Letting her drive away is putting other lives in danger.
"Letting her drive away" reminded me of when, a week or so ago, the lady who was DUI hit and killed 2 PA State Troopers and a civilian who was walking on I-95.
Evidently she was stopped for suspicion of DUI a short time before and the troopers left her to investigate the guy walking on the interstate.
I told Mrs. v that I wouldn't be surprised if she gets off because they left her in the condition she was in. Did it take 2 to stop her? Did both of them have to leave her to attend to the walker? It wouldn't surprise me if a smart attorney sues the State too.

That's a common refrain in my neck of the woods; when anyone is shot due to a drug deal gone sideways or killed running from the police the tearful mother is interviewed and she ALWAYS tells how the deceased was a great kid who "was starting to turn his life around."

For decades here the TV stations sought out someone to do just that. They'd ask leading questions to evoke that type of content if it's not forthcoming from the interviewee. Done that for decades.
We are taking the E400 which has 32000 miles on it and the GLK which has 24000 miles on it for the yearly oil change and filter. It is recommended they check fluid levels and tire pressure which is fine. MB suggests new brake fluid every 2 years. I don't think this was done but the miles on the car are about equivalent to 2 years of driving. Would you have that done. All the other stuff sounds like a make work project, check lights, oil hinges, check trunk light, check brake pads, check steering mechanism, etc. What would you do over and above the oil change and filter at this time?
If called for do the brake fluid. Especially after a lot of sitting.
That was what I was thinking......oil, filter, check fluids, tire pressure, brake fluid on the E400. Brake fluid was done on the GLK in 2020 and it has only gone 5000 miles since then. It needs the rest but I am thinking of leaving the brake fluid for another year.
If you do an A or B service it is a lot....of useless stuff....I mean you usually know if a light is not working and what do they charge per hour to check all that stuff?

There has been an increase in young teens stealing cars in my area. I think I told the story about being in the company van a few years ago and getting caught up in a police stop of a stolen BMW full of kids under 18. Thank goodness they surrendered without a fight. I don’t ever want to be in the middle of a car chase or a shootout.

Your bff... the ole Jipster... is still here. My 2020 Accord closing in on 30k trouble free miles. My daughter just put in a buyer's order for a new Subaru Outback. Looking at extended warranty plans. If your waiting for the discussion to circle back to vacuum cleaners, shouldn't be too much longer.

Strange things.

Now, what he won’t admit is that he has a Hyundai in his garage right now.
