The pool is the killer. More insurance and upkeep on the pool. Our place is only $400/quarter but no pool. It’s really only insurances, electric for the outside lights and maintenance.
When we looked at some larger complexes with pools it was more like what you are paying.
Meanwhile, I will likely never use it. At least it is there for guests.
But, the pool probably adds 10 or 20% to the value of your home.....a lot of people want to have a pool.
I was walking home after swimming in the pool, and this guy says he never uses the pool and doesn't want to pay for it and he wants it filled in. I said the value of your home will go down 25%....and it will!

The pool just behind my building is an Olympic sized pool - but I never see anyone swimming. It’s our Village’s pool for 6 buildings. We have bathrooms there, showers and gas grills for pool parties.
About 1/2 a block away from my building is the community pool with a walking pool and an “L” shaped pool with loads of chaise lounges and chairs with tables and umbrellas for eating or card games. That pool area is for the entire community. On Saturdays, they always have a live band with singers performing. Saturday nights, there are live shows in our theater which is adjacent to the community pools 1/2 block away.
it jumped quick. I filled up Sunday when I got home (and filled the mower gas can) and I think RUG was 4.05. Tuesday I drove by and it was up to about $4.30. I filled up the car today and I think it was about $4.45
there is a massive amount of profit gauging going on these days. Profiteering.
- - - I read an article on MSN late last week and they said to fill up before Monday because the summer blend gas thingy was going to start.
Pools are money pits; especially if you live in a Fascist State like California where they can impose new codes on an old Condo without the benefits of being "Grandfathered" in.
"Fasicist" and California in the same sentence? I don't think I've ever seen that before. Not to make this political (not my intent at all), but California is known as a very liberal state.

I just checked on the price of PUG at Costco - $4.49 a gallon (RUG is $4.09). That's the highest price I have ever paid for PUG! I noticed online that the gas station across the street from my condo community entrance is selling PUG for the same price - $4.49. Since my Discover Card has 5% cash back on gasoline this quarter, I'll buy my gas there because Costco only accepts VISA. So that will bring the net cost of gas to $4.27. I think it's a Valero station.
Your PUG cost is our RUG cost.

interesting fact from the realtor pros, but once the pandemic hit, pools became way more popular.
Your house will be gone in one weekend with multiple offers without question.
My wife wants a pool at home and while I love a nice pool, I just can’t see spending 50K when we have a shore house.
We just discussed our summer plan and for the entire month of July and August she is going to stay down with the kids and my Mom and I will each spend a night or two at home during the week as needed. Good benefit of being WFH. It will be nice after work in the summer to take a walk on the beach. Will also be easier than lugging stuff back and forth all the time and fighting the Friday night traffic.

When the pandemic hit, the guys who install pools couldn't keep up with the demand. Pools could become even more valuable with this big increase in gas prices, it will be cheaper to stay at home than to drive somewhere for the weekend. Home prices in Canada spiked, the average home is now almost $1 million, but prices are dropping because of higher mortgage rates and inflation. Gas is almost $2 a liter, which is over $8 a gallon in Canada for a larger gallon...taking into account smaller gallon and the exchange we probably pay $5.50 U.S.D. for a U.S. gallon. I need Snake to figure that one out.
Hey stickguy, Where did you order your MAV? One of my kids finally test drove a Bronco Sport and is looking into buying one. The one she drove had a 2K ADM(of course). I saw a place in NJ is doing orders for 2% under invoice. Chapman.

Chapman. The philly dealer. They have a few different locations that work independently but do the same type of deal on orders. Percentage off varies but they were good to deal with. True to word and very efficient. No games at all.
I am currently waiting at the VW dealer as the Passat is in for routine service. Like many, inventory is thin. Primarily Tiguans, Taos, Atlas, 2 Jettas. Still waiting for local prices to pull back. I check sales daily, still plenty going over list. We could pull back a full 25%, which would usually be considered a cataclysm, and that would put us back to Q2 2021. Prices here have risen ~20% YOY since 2014 or so. There has been real inflation out there long before the talking heads picked up on it, or cherry picked data points were used in official measures.
I also have an econ degree and college courses. Feel free to PM me with some sources (some may whine about wiki, which can be debatable, but they offer nothing better in this case) . I expect a cacophony of crickets

Been running for about a week in the (large) basement, it hasn't (yet?) read less than 58% RH, I've got it currently set for 45%. Good reviews, decent sized tank and I've attached the outflow hose.
So far, all listed HOAs sound low to me. We actually pay HOAs for our neighborhood association (pool, clubhouse, bocce courts under construction) as well as a "Landowners Association" fee for maintenance of the entire development. But, so far from what I've seen, a very good job being done. Our pool won't be open until summer of '23, but there is the common pool area, should we desire to mix with the lowlanders (we live on "The Ridge"). Also, a small lakefront beach available to all. Ocean beaches a short drive away.
Coyotes, foxes, turkeys, etc. quite common here. Our dog has a witching hour every night, where he paces, whines quietly and looks out windows, pining to be with his wild relatives. Who would love to meet and eat him.
I think I paid $4.45 for Costco PUG last weekend, but I'm using so little gas (short trips on electricity, mostly. And, longer trips averaging 30+mpg when in hybrid mode) that I haven't yet shed my more normal tear when gas prices rise significantly. I think I mentioned that my last time between a fill with Dino, I drove 600 miles and averaged 102mpg; 80% nuclear to 20% ooze mix during that time.
Hope all are happy, healthy and wealthy.

Thanks for the info @laurasdada. I let MrsD100 work on getting a dehumidifier, I had a full week of tennis and pickleball, plus dealing with the insurance company for a sewage leak in the basement, and dealing with the city to try and get compensated for the damage which occurred due to their clogged pipe.

No, but most of the settings were wrong. It just sounds more cohesive now. For example, the SW crossover was set at 80 Hz and the Take Classic 5.1 speaker system calls for 115 Hz to 120 Hz.

The brake fluid flush was about $90. The VW takes the newer spec 508 which is essentially 0-20w synthetic and who knew, an up charge. Thankfully no suggestions for additional needs.

My ionizer showed up, so I'm running it right now for 1/2 an hour.
The first time I used the ionizer in the Pacifica, I left the engine running, with A/C on recirculate for about 30 minutes. This was recommended in one Youtube video in order to get the full effect within the air ducts.
I go back far enough to remember when no one would think of leaving a car running for 30 minutes due to fear of overheating.

As long as it’s better, that’s what counts.
The frequency response of the Take Classic system speakers only extends down to 115 Hz. If the subwoofer crossover is set at 80 Hz there is a "hole" in the frequency response from 80 Hz to 115 Hz. The crossover settings vary based on the speakers, subwoofer, and the acoustics of the room. In my main system the speakers extend down to at least 60 Hz, so the sub crossover is set at 80 Hz to let the sub handle the low frequency energy and let the other speakers handle the rest of the frequency spectrum.

There are hundreds of models that seem similar in what they will do.

Will you be able to run a drain hose? 6+ gallons of water is a lot to lift to empty the bucket.
No, but most of the settings were wrong. It just sounds more cohesive now. For example, the SW crossover was set at 80 Hz and the Take Classic 5.1 speaker system calls for 115 Hz to 120 Hz.

I understand the words but have no idea what you just said.
As long as it’s better, that’s what counts.

I go back far enough to remember when no one would think of leaving a car running for 30 minutes due to fear of overheating.

I bought one off Amazon.

It is small enough to just about fit into the cowl area, I covered the cowl openings with a couple of upside down boxes and a towel.
I also ran it inside the car.
