I don't mind going back to the office a few days a week (if anything, I snack less there), but I have to laugh when I go in and then spend hours a day in Teams meetings.

I take it as a badge of honor that having retired in 2014, I have never had to use or otherwise have anything to do with Microsoft Teams. I do recall when COVID first hit, various people I know were totally frustrated by trying to use it, unsuccessfully. If it is anything like Sharepoint, I can certainly understand why.
I get along with Teams - I seldom have issues when using a PC to access it, but I know people have quirks on mobile. Sharepoint can suffer from quirks, more than once I have placed files in a folder and some others can't find them, but they appear for me.

One fun thing my employer implemented in wake of the new post-pandemic world - "no meetings Fridays", which would probably make edgy Elon twitch.

My mom retired in 2019, at 70 - her plan was to max out SS (not sure if I would do it that way, and my dad retired the second he was able). She's quite happy she had that timing.
I had a boss that always scheduled his meetings on Friday afternoon. It was actually a good idea as people kept their discussions of things to the bare minimum and the meetings were done quickly.
If someone did that now at my workplace, they might regret it. Still instances of meetings that could or should have been emails, but nicer to be able to attend at home now and then.

I have a coffee mug that says "I Survived Another Meeting That Should Have Been An Email".

I retired in late 2020, and drew full Social Security, as I had planned. I did use Teams for a while before I retired, and I didn't have too much trouble with it. Pretty much every meeting was technical, and someone was presenting on their computer, we were not forced to look at each other's ugly mugs. The biggest problem was usually echo's caused by someone using the built in mike on their notebook.

That brings property values down, there should be a municipal law that doesn't allow cars painted like that to be left in a driveway.

It funny, I retired from my white collar, meetings on Friday life and switched to a blue collar existence just as cell phones were becoming a thing. Computers too. I never needed them for the next 35 years.

Now I make due with a flip phone for work and a basic IPad. I feel sorry for you guys that have to be tethered to all those electronics.

Well, it’s just a habit. Maybe not yours or mine but it’s a habit.

I’m beginning to think that young folks today can’t even walk across the street anymore without a phone in their ear or texting. And people wonder why you hear of a pedestrian accident almost every day. Between pedestrians with phones and drivers distracted with their phones I’m not surprised one bit.

Can you find out if that buyer has a brother who wants to buy a very low miled (less than 12K miles) ‘15 Genny with the V8.

It’s hard to believe you can get that kind of money for an Altima that isn’t even black.

Altima drivers have a rep (google "big Altima energy") which this kind of mocks.

It’s the wrong time of year to be driving it more but I really should give it a nice long drive if for nothing else but to give the battery a good charge before putting it away for another Winter.

If I were to sell it now I could honestly say with a straight face that the car has never seen a grain of salt. Now I’ve gone and done it, @oldfarmer50 is going to be hounding me. :/

One last few hundred mile road trip before the roads are salted (I assume they do so with enthusiasm in your region). I feel bad about my wagon not being driven enough, and it has twice as many miles on it as your Genny, it is a 2019. It'll go out in the snow a bit though, Blizzaks already on the car, and I don't think salt is used here, rather some kind of chemical brew - caris AWD and relatively rare but not an appreciating asset, so I need to enjoy it - these are the good old days.

Miata works for me. I would take it, especially at a discount for all the colors! Besides, it is just stickers. a couple of hours and 2-3 beers on a Sunday and it will be a blank slate again. He even announces it on his plate!

The Audi yelled at me on the way home from dinner last night, "You're running out of gas and electricity! Fuel 'em both up, DUMMKOPF!" Excuse me, that is Herr Dummkopf to you. First time I've gotten the double warning.
So, plugged in at home, giving me 18 miles of whirring and clicking, drove to newly reopened BJs gas, $4.10 PUG.
449 miles on the last tank, avg. 40 mph and 40.7 mpg. Not bad for Das Boot.

In my world I use a laptop all day every day, so the TOD is displayed (very accurately BTW) in the lower right-hand corner. When I'm not at my laptop my flip phone (gasp!!) displays the time.

But that's just me, and possibly a couple of other fossils on here.

Once it sells does your wife finally get her new dining room suite with all the extras?
    ————————————————-
I thought I mentioned this already…Mrs. j no longer wants another dining room set. One of her life long friends going back to her early childhood told her that if she didn’t want it anymore she’d gladly take it or even buy it. Mrs. j now realizes that she has a pretty unique dining room suite and is not going to part with it. In fact, just last week DIL #2 commented how much she likes it.

I thought she might want to chase you around a different table. All in fun.

    btw...I got my new laptop computer....ordered from Amazon;

2022 Newest HP Pavilion 15.6 HD Micro-Edge Laptop for Student and Home use, Intel Celeron N4120 4-Core(up to 2.6Ghz), 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Numpad, Fast Charge, HDMI, Windows11 S, . $399.

My IT specialist helped transfer my files over. It wanted me to use Microsoft Edge and my IT guy advised using Chrome. Everything costs extra if you start using Microsoft, like Wordpad, Storage Space, security....whereas he found free alternatives such as LibreOffice. It has twice the RAM and GB as the old laptop, which was 9 years old...I guess I got my use out of it, by using The Driver Anatomized Averaging System about $31 a year.

It's a big job, but my IT guy does it remotely using Teamviewer, and since he can do it from his place he charges $40 an hour (about $30 an hr U.S.D.). it took about an hour he zooms around and advises what to keep and not keep. In fact, he could do yours from Canada. The real surprise was that he was against Microsoft Edge...he doesn't like the way companies like that operate. He was always against Apple too....paying for the hype.

Nice computer, I will only nitpick 2 things. First, the Intel Celeron processor, that thing sucks big time. For the same money, you could have gotten a real Intel I5 cpu. Secondly, the "Windows S". Hopefully, your IT guy turned that off immediately. On second that, he must have, if he installed LibreOffice for you.

At any rate, enjoy your new computer.

On Edit: Too late for you, but for anyone else looking, this is also by HP, has a much better cpu, and for less money.

They say bad things happen in threes.

Last Thursday at work we had one of our guy get rear ended by a tractor-trailer. Not really hurt but it screwed up our schedule by about 45 minutes while he waited for the police to arrive.

Today, one our older drivers (low 80s) forgot to put his car in park before he got out and it rolled across the garage and into a competitor’s car. Spoiled his day for sure.

Finally, just before we quit tonight we were waiting at the light to make a left turn when someone apparently ran the red right next to us and was t-boned by another car proceeding through the intersection. I called it in and have received several callbacks from the investigators. No word on injuries but two cars totaled.

So I guess this means nothing but good stuff going forward.

Yes, he did turn off the Microsoft systems that had to be turned off to make the non-MS ones work. It seems that the Intel i5 is better if you get into gaming or extra activities like photoshop etc, but I only use the laptop for emailing and googling, so it should be fine for that. Walmart is probably a good way to buy the latest in a computer - because of their buying power. Amazon uses vendors who just have to pay for warehouse space. I bought on Amazon because I have had great results with them. Also, I didn't want to spend a lot of time researching and deciding......I found a few on Amazon and my IT friend reviewed them. One was similar but had W10, and it was $360, but it was sold through a vendor......if there is a problem with this one I'd be dealing Amazon, and it can be returned at no charge. They have always been user friendly.

    @oldfarmer50,
Back when I was in high school, I was a passenger in a car and saw a girl run over by another car.
People ran over and lifted the car off of her.
When I was able to get to a phone, I told the police what I witnessed; girl crossing the street from the far side toward our side when she got hit.
The next day a detective called me and cursed me out for being an a hole.
Said he had 4 witnesses that said she was crossing from our side toward the far side.
Luckily, she lived and he called me back and apologized after he was able to talk to her and she corroborated my version of what happened.

Witness testimony is notoriously unreliable which is why I told the cop that I didn’t actually see the point of contact because my view was blocked by the car in front and that it was dark. I told him that my perception was that one car had run the light because I don’t remember it being green before the impact and it was definitely red after. But who knows if I was remembering it correctly.

As it turned out he told me that my recollections matched the story that they were piecing together.

If giving witness testimony best to say something like, "To the best of my recollection..........." first. If you have 10 witnesses you could have 10 different stories.

It isn't nice to witness an accident. One day one of my tennis guys in Florida was a bit late. He was stopped at a red light and saw a big collision in the intersection in front of him, and one car rolled over several times, right in front of him.

Jay Leno is sharing new details about the injuries he sustained during the car fire at his garage.

The comedian and classic car lover, 72, suffered third-degree burns and may need skin grafts, he told TMZ on Monday night from his hospital bed.

He explained that he was at his Burbank, Calif., garage on Saturday, fixing his 1907 White Steam Car, which had a clogged fuel line. He said there was a fuel leak and gas sprayed on his face and hands. A spark triggered an explosion, which then set the Jay Leno's Garage host on fire.

Leno credited a friend, identifying him only as Dave, for saving him from more serious injuries. He jumped on the former Tonight Show host, smothering the flames. Leno was rushed to the Grossman Burn Center in West Hills, Calif., by ambulance, where he's being treated for his third-degree burns. He also may need skin grafts.

The left side of Leno's face was burned and so were his hands. However, was no damage to his eyes or ears. He's expected to be hospitalized for up to 10 days.

Hoping for the best for Jay.

Yesterday was cold and rainy all day, a good day for sleeping. Today the sun came out, and it was very pretty. Still a little cool, though, high of 55 this afternoon. Just cool enough that your hands will start to ache after working a while with no gloves.

I took advantage of the good weather, and replaced the aftermarket rear view camera on my 2013 F150. The first one lasted a little over a year, and then water got into it. I blew it out with compressed air, twice, but couldn't get rid of all the spots. So I just bought a new one. The first time around, I bought the cheapest one on Amazon, $25, this time I stepped up to the $35 model. Higher resolution, but the head unit adapts automatically, so all is good. I did have to splice a couple of wires, but altogether much easier than the original install.

A couple of random thoughts. I buy a lot of stuff online from or through Amazon, I mean a LOT. I paid for a Walmart+ subscription back during the pandemic to get free grocery delivery, and since then I have found it worthwhile to keep up the subscription. I usually compare Amazon to Walmart before making a purchase, going with what seems to be the better deal or the better product. Amazon gets the stuff to you quicker, but Walmart is getting faster. And returns on Walmart have been every bit as easy as on Amazon.

Some smaller items on Amazon are marked up significantly to cover the cost of the free shipping, and that usually isn't the case on Walmart. But then, Amazon has a greater variety of stuff, so ...

Secondly, the need or usefulness of a better cpu (I5 vs Celeron). For most PC users, non-gamers, the biggest drag on performance is found in Windows updates. With a large update going on in the background, a Celeron based computer can become essentially unusable. I'm talking where you are trying to type in a post for the forums here, and the characters echo to the screen several seconds after you type them.

Wish I could get a rear camera installed in the C250, and lane change warnings would be nice too.
When I am backing up I expect to hear a beep when I get close, and the only thing I am going to hear if I don't do it right is a crash.
Same with lane change warning, I have to make sure there isn't a car beside me or in my blind spot, I am used to just seeing a red light when I can't change lanes.

    "Everybody lies.

Cops lie. Lawyers lie. Witnesses lie. The victims lie.

A trial is a contest of lies. And everybody in the courtroom knows this. The judge knows this. Even the jury knows this. They come into the building knowing they will be lied to. They take their seats in the box and agree to be lied to.

The trick if you are sitting at the defense table is to be patient. To wait. Not for any lie. But for the one you can grab onto and forge like hot iron into a sharpened blade. You then use that blade to rip the case open and spill its guts out on the floor.

That’s my job, to forge the blade. To sharpen it. To use it without mercy or conscience. To be the truth in a place where everybody lies."

Speaking of reading, I'm slowly working my way through all of the Jack Reacher novels, in publishing order. I'm about 2/3 of the way through the list.

Wondering which book is being used for Season 2 of Reacher on Amazon Prime, currently being filmed.

There is always a better deal somewhere, but sometimes you just have to go for it.

I agree with everything you said @henryn . Sometimes Amazon is better, sometimes Wallymart, and sometimes Staples has a special that can blow them both out of the water. I didn't see much on Best Buy and I had to wade through a lot of refurbished units , and then get rid of all the extras they want to tag on.
I do updates pretty regularly and I seldom work while updates are going on, but it could happen. I didn't even consider processors when I was looking - not something I know about.......and I had to do the looking myself because I knew the things I wanted, 15.6 in screen, Windows 10 or 11, HP, 256 and 8GBs.
It sure is better than my 8 year old HP stripped down model....all is good.

Not sure if it's still out there but the MS store had LibreOffice so you could still get it with Windows S still on, but I think they changed a few bucks for it.

I feel like I am living at the time of The Walton's. But, MrsD100 says it is a good way to keep up my skills.

Oh my God, you don't have a back up camera nor lane change warnings? So how is life living amongst the Amish?
