Thanks, that was fun to look at and I saw some interesting old and same faces. I liked this statement;
RE; 1982 Cimmaron: rated at 88hp, but torque was much better with the 2 litre. Some chassis changes were made that improved ride and handling. Remember the speed limit during this period was 55 mph. With the automatic the 82 did 0-60 in 15.8 sec, qtr mile 22 sec at 65 mph.
I wonder if Cadillac will ever bring back the Cimmaron nameplate?
That would be roughly equivalent to a late 60s / early 70s VW bug. Which was a lot cheaper, and actually kind of fun, in it's own way.
I've got one. Now that you are a northerner, take a short trip up the Northway. I'll even hop the ferry to meet you in Plattsburgh.
Did not know that. You selling or just offering a look over? 😁
I did discover from some research that Carvana apparently cornered the market on used Miata’s. Almost every one advertised for sale is from them. Mostly at crazy prices too. That stinks.
I just did a quick look into who has Miata's and the price. I found about a dozen used cars from dealerships in the area but I cannot say where the ones Carvana are so they are not included in that number. And I found that the dealerships have better prices than Carvana, significantly better prices.

There is a current-model HT Miata that apparently lives nearby since I see it on my street fairly often. When it goes past I wonder how anyone other than a jockey can fit behind the wheel. It looks *really* tiny with the hardtop in place.
I know that a 6’2” old man can fit in one.
Not comfortably.
My sister had a Miata when they first came out and I test drove it. I am 6 foot 2 also and yes I can fit in it but I wouldn't want to drive it very far.
I remember one time filling up the Sebring next to a guy filling up a Miata. He mentioned that I should have got a Miata, I replied that I couldn't, I have more than one friend.

I looked at cars.com and I think it was 6 of 7. within 40 miles of me. I checked auto tempest and it found 1/2 on cars.com I think, and 36 at Carvana (not sure what distance that was). Carvana seems weird. they come up as local just about everywhere.
That makes more sense to where you are. Further from Burlington than I realized driving up. And only 15 minutes on the boat.
If you want the fun route to Burlington take Exit 28 off the Northway and Rt. 74 to the side road through Ironville. That will take you over the Champlain bridge into VT. Much more scenic.

just looked again. Maybe cars.com isn't the best source now but I still use it. 100 miles from me. 29 Miatas come up. 27 are at Carvana (and all of the sticks).
LOL, talk about an outlier. My question would be how many water pumps did he put into that vehicle to make those 358k miles. It might be an original engine but not all original pumps, compressors, alternators etc.
Actually the 3.5L is a great engine and there’s nothing particularly bad about the water pumps but it’s the internal location of the WP that can be disastrous. I’ve read about the pumps failing and causing coolant to go into the oil without warning which granades the motor pretty quick. Even if you stop immediately I understand it’s a $3k repair.
Ford isn’t the only company that uses internal WPs. Chrysler’s notorious 2.7L had one. I seem to remember some older Cadillacs had them back in the 90s.

thanks. I will next time. only a couple minutes difference and does look a lot more scenic than going through Queensbury and over 197.
using fire is total amateur hour, stupid, and obviously dangerous.
————————————————- You got that right that’s dangerous stuff. He should have gotten his mother to come over and spit on the sealing surface, that would have done it. Mothers spit is magical. It’s cleaned up more kids than a bar of soap. Could even remove rust from the old time chrome bumpers. Good show though.

Yeah I can’t imagine Discount Tire did anything like that when they installed mine.
Discount Tire wouldn't do that because an air compressor would do the work too. That technique is usually used in the field and usually by off roaders who may lower the air pressure in their tires from time to time. If they break the bead they will use that technique to reset it.

It would be good if that guy could condense the video to a more manageable 3 minutes or less. There is lots of filler as he talks about his toy duck and he is obsessed with the sound of the car. I'm not even sure if the sound is real or produced these days. I'd like him to explain what that lever is for at the front of the seat...is that an ejection lever?
Wow. At least it gets the oxygen out of the inside of the tire for all those who think increasing the nitrogen above 78% has some advantage for normal folks' tires.
They didn’t. I recall when my sister owned hers (I want to say early ‘80s), she constantly had to take it into the dealer (home of the 12K miles/12 mo warranty). Seemingly every week or two. My father was furious with the dealership and went with her a few of the times. She was pretty young and made her first major purchase of that car with her first post college job.
My father finally got them to extend the warranty. Don’t recall by how much, but I remember him getting into it with the dealership’s owner on one occasion.
Anyway, when the new model came out, it looked the same as the old model, at least to my young eyes.
But, I remember that engine singing like a Ferrari right behind our heads when I was in it. Plus, during the warm months, she kept the targa roof off, which was even more fun. Wasn’t very fast, but it sounded great!
IIRC, she only kept it about 18 months, as rust was already starting to form around the rockers.
Yes, it is a real thing that can be used in a difficult situation, but not recommended to use at home in your own garage or driveway.
never had to do it in my garage nor driveway. The weird goopy stuff I bought does the trick for difficult situations like that. Takes more work, but it is certainly way safer.
