Me too. Sort of. My agent emailed me a temp. card to print. Then they will mail a regular card. Doesn't make much sense, but that's what they do.

So...the F&I guy didn't do the "I" part and he didn't have to any of the "F" part since I didn't finance it. I wonder what I should call that office?

Best Buy has a pretty good sale on dishwashers. If considering a Bosch, someone said not to consider under a 300 series but I think the 100 Series is fine (50 db compared to 46), and some 100s have 4+ stars.
Other makes are on sale too.

    * I got all these ads for dishwashers now because I checked dishwashers online when you were asking about them last week.

Just a coincidence. OR you might need one before @ab348. Better yet, ask your DW how it’s doing. For what most Bosch DW’s cost it should have the “ask and tell” feature”.

Had “Dads and Dudes” weekend at my daughter’s sorority.

After breakfast this morning we went to Cataract falls and saw the covered bridge there. Travel was slow as I forgot about the covered bridge festival.

I can’t remember if @corvette has been to cataract falls?

Ours was a basic model so it doesn't have that feature...probably a 100 series. But, it has been fine and I'd estimate that it is about 5 years old now...though it gets used about 7 months of the year.

I think I forgot to mention when we bought it the salesman told us a lot of people replace all their appliances at once only so the color....whether stainless, white or black will be the same shade.

If I was buying today I'd prefer white (ours are black, that is what came with the house when we bought it 15 years ago), but it is easier to find appliances in stainless these days...but the downside is stainless is hard to match if there are different brands involved.
And that is your appliance lesson for today boys and girls. :)

I’ve heard more than once some fussy women don’t want appliances from different manufacturers because they want all the displays to be the same color. They’d have a conniption in our kitchen. LG microwave over a Kenmore range that is sideways to a Samsung fridge that is opposite our new Maytag dishwasher. Makes me wonder how we’ve ever slept.

in our prior house the 3 stainless appliances were all different brands, but if there was a difference in finish (texture or color) we could not notice it. Helps that none of them were right next to another one so you really only saw 1 at a time.

the new house, those will all be brand new and the same brand, not that they really need to be.

The salesman told us (maybe so that we would buy a set) that a lot of people buy all major appliances at once...so the color will match.
I would find that hard to do. Our appliances are black which we don't like, rather have white first and then stainless, but when the dishwasher went we didn't want to get rid of our stove and fridge which worked fine.
Like @stickguy said, our appliances aren't that close so the brand doesn't matter....in fact they are all different brands.
But, you do see ads showing special prices if you buy all your appliances at once. Also might be worth considering if there's a good sale on a kitchen package, and 2 or 3 of your appliances are almost ready to go.

When we buy appliances for our flips, we always buy the package. Not always the same brand but always a package. We’ve found that’s the best price you’re going to get. It’s even better than if I were to get my military discount buying separately at either Home Depot or Lowe’s. We don’t buy the low end package. Usually one step up but when we did the 4 bedroom flip we moved up another notch. I think there was one more level above that.

Buying the top of the line doesn’t necessarily get you a better appliance. What it does get you is more features. If you don’t want or need those features, why buy the upscale units. We didn’t even buy top of the line when we redid our own kitchen in 2010. For instance, for an oven all Mrs. j wants is 4 top burners (the Kenmore we got has a 5th top burner but it’s really only a keep warm burner which she says she almost never uses) and it HAS to be self cleaning which we had since we built our first house in 1967. Getting that today is no big deal but in ‘67 it was. To the tune of about $40 back then which at the time was a nice chunk of change. At least for us it was. I seem to remember that the self cleaning feature added about 1/3 more to the cost of our Tappan electric oven compared to a standard non self clean oven.

I think that is what we ended up picking. not the exotic top model (something like the "professional" series which has a major price jump and nothing extra that we need). But the upgraded series that look nicer and have some useful extras (either features or quality). Seems like a reasonable compromise, and even the salesman said that was the appropriate level for the type and price house we were doing. Spending an extra $5-10K for a fancier stove and oven seems like a waste.

We had a neighbor with free roaming chickens which would chase passing cars. I don’t know what they would have done if they caught one. Occasionally a horse or two from the neighboring farm would take a stroll down the road as well. The sheep however were better behaved.

I am edging closer to final design for my kitchen remodel. I really don't want white cabinets since that is what just about everyone does these last few years. I don't hate them, but I would want to be different. I actually saw what you described with the white + navy island in a store display and didn't care for it. Can't put my finger on why.

I like what @kyfdx did with his, though on my screen I can't tell for certain if the cabinets are pale gray or another non-color like taupe. I think the taupe or a pale gray-green painted finish is what I'm going to end up with. I have a couple of glass doors now and I like that so I might keep them, perhaps in a different location.

The color is Egret White (from Sherwin Williams). It's a softer white, but I wouldn't call it off-white.

Pale gray/green cabinets look great. Most painted cabinets are maple, as that takes paint well (but not stain).

Our granite is mostly shades of gray, with a little pink/brown mixed in, which is typical for granite.
The back splash is gray glass tile. That makes a really nice clean look, and it goes well with our granite and cabinet color. Also, looks great with stainless steel.

The contrasting island always looks good to me.. you just have to do it in something you like. Our island is cherry with a walnut stain.

I never would have guessed those cabinets are in a shade described as white. It must be a trick of the
    lighting.

I think I know what turned me off the display I saw with the white cabinets and navy island. It was the color tones. The white was really bright white, and the blue island, while described as navy, was a fairly vibrant to me. I didn't like the combo. A more muted dark blue with a white like yours might have been better.

One thing I learned from last time - then, I picked hickory engineered hardwood for the floors in a warm mid-brown shade. The color was OK, but the wood in a kitchen did not work. If you missed a bit of spilled water, it caused problems. If you dropped something, it left a mark. And worst of all, if you wanted to move the fridge or stove for cleaning, you almost needed a crew of people to ensure you didn't mar the floor, even though the fridge had rollers. I'm probably going with a high end or commercial vinyl plank tile this time.

My wife through they are gray too.

Agreed about wood in the kitchen. We have it now and I am obsessively paranoid about it. And the new house will have it too. A downside I guess to open concept! Of course if I can save some real $ switching the first floor to LVP I might try and convince the wife to do that!

The lighting in the top picture does make it look gray. The bottom picture is a truer representation. Definitely not gray.

We've had wood in the kitchen since we built the house, 25 years ago. It's white oak, and was unstained (just urethane). We had them refinished, and stained a medium brown. We have about 1100 sq feet of wood, total on the first floor. It's all 3/4" solid hardwood.

If you get the right color stain (and that's saying a lot), then it goes with just about everything.

Oh, yeah... the rug is from Target. $200. :D

This is how the shore house kitchen will come together.

White cabinets (all new solid wood doors, paint frames which are also solid wood thankfully)
    Quartz countertop
    White Subway tile
    Blue mosaic accent band

Floors are a light maple(ish) now that are staying as are the SS appliances that are perfectly fine for now.

Just need to finalize all the quotes and finances to execute but we are close.

Lady that owns the solid surface place: Why would you pay more for Quartz, when you can get a natural material for less?

Just kidding.. I know it's easier to hit your color palette with Quartz.

We both went in wanting granite as that is what we are used to. Supposedly the only negative with quartz is you can’t put a hot pot on it.

I have never heard of granite or most other natural stones aside from marble having any issue with hot pots.

I also did not want quartz (especially a high end one at $137 psf) but we just couldn’t find a granite with the right color palette to bring in that blue color the wife wanted

What?!? That’s insane! That would be like $15k alone for me.

Our granite tops were $39 sq/ft, plus $10 linear/foot for the eased edge (a lot of edge). $200 for the stainless steel undermount sink.

Including install, just $4000. Most other quotes we received were around $6000.

One catch: This dealer sells by the sq/ft for any granite on the premises (they have a lot). If you pick something else they have to bring in, you pay for the whole slab. So, if you need 1.3 slabs, you buy two. A lot of dealers charge by the slab, no matter what.

Fortunately, we liked something they had.

Or ... ya know ... choose a cheaper countertop. I believe the granite I put in our previous house was I think $35/sq ft. That was in maybe 2005?

We are meeting soon with the designer. Since we have an allowance for the whole kitchen, wife will be strongly pushed toward level 1 or remnants if possible. IOW stay in budget because spending more on countertops means less $ left for cabinets.

Cool cabinet features are useful. Expensive granite is basically wasted money.

Yes it is insane. Luckily our kitchen isn’t huge and it will be around $7500 installed. Is what it is. We both really liked it.

We will get one more quote, just to make sure. I like to have 3 if possible.

Man, you must like living dangerously. Be sure to video the conversation when you reveal she is getting pushed to choose from remnants. It might come in handy for the assault trial... :p
