Counter-depth refrigerators are all 35 3/4" wide. No matter the configuration. So, large pizza box fits just fine in a counter-depth side by side.

Counter depth also makes configuring your kitchen easy, as you know the exact width to plan for.

On another note.. leftover pizza will taste a lot better the next day, if you wrap it or put it in tupperware.

Yes, all you need is a 36"+ wide space for the fridge. That doesn't work for a lot of kitchens.

I've never had a need to put a pizza box into the refrigerator. Have side-by-side.
We do use ziploc freezer bags a lot for putting the food inside, zipping the zipper or squeezing
the two grooved parts together to seal the freshness in. Works for pizza really well.

Where can I buy one of those? :D

Actually, just easier to jam the box in until it does fit! :|

btw....I think I told you the really good Odd Job Guy thinks he solved the front door that catches on the bottom.
He put a wedge behind the lower hinge, and that raises the door and puts it on a better angle so it is now straight.
It does rub a bit on the frame....the opposite side in the lower portion....he said if it swells in the winter or is a problem he can sand that down.

You’re welcome....put that idea into your tool box.

Around here, they put the dimensions on the price signs near the counter where you order it. 9”, 12”, 18”, etc., so you don’t need to search for your measuring tape when you get home.

Yeah, that one had me scratching my head too. I’m a pizza snob. I don’t even eat bar pizza so the Chinese buffet route ain’t gonna happen either.

BTW, with all this pizza talk, I was thing of going out to get one tonight. Then I remembered I had a rib eye in the fridge just waiting for the grill. I have my priorities ya know.

coincidentally we stopped for pizza on the way home today. 4:15 or so, so either a very late lunch or early dinner!

went on a local parade of houses tour this weekend. Fun, but a long day today doing 7 of the 9 (takes a while to get to some of them because they are spread out all over the county). A few were "normal" houses (2,400 SF give or take) so representative of stuff we could buy. a few were very large and very custom. Way over the top.

got some good ideas for the new house at least. Never knew before that you could get a composite kitchen sink!

I don’t like composite because it’s made of or with plastic. I personally want stainless especially if you have granite or quartz countertops. Most people don’t want to go through the work of changing out a sink because it has stained after a few years of use. I know, the guy selling composite bowls today says they are better today than years ago. And 5 years from now he’ll be saying the same thing to buyers then. Stainless never wears out.

Even in our modest flip houses we put in granite tops with stainless under mount sink bowls. My Son is now on the kick of putting in stainless under mount single bowl farmers style sink bowls (not cheap especially with the heavier gauge stainless). That wouldn’t be my choice but according to the realtors that showed the last 2 flips, the buyers literally flipped over that sink style.

Like my Son has said many times, “I don’t mind spending money where the buyers can see it because I actually get more bang for my buck with those upgrades than any other money I spend doing flip work”.

I’ve never understood the appeal of those. Plus they eliminate a feature I really like, the tilt-out bin at the top front of the sink cabinet that gives you a place for scrubbers, sponges, etc.

I can see a potential issue long-term with a composite sink depending on how well they hold up to cleaners and scrubbers. I don’t mind stainless. Or maybe you could go full This Old House and put a bunch of cash in the disposal by getting a soapstone sink.

True.....and almost everyone likes pizza. They often serve fries and meatballs too. These foods are popular, inexpensive, filling, and yes, not all people or kids like Chinese foods.
Maybe ask, why do seafood restaurants serve chicken, hamburgers, steaks and ribs?

the little bit of looking said the composites are very durable and can be scrubbed. Can't do that with the white farmhouse!

It is a style thing. Do look cool. but very heavy, tend to get dirty and hard to clean. and another drawback is that it is very hard to reach the faucet if you need to get that out (the sink requires a lot of bracing to support it).

they do have farmhouse style stainless too. basically just gets you an apron instead of hiding behind the wood facing. We never had the flip out drawer and doubt I would ever use it.

I am anxious to get in to meet with the kitchen designer. and start discussing all these options. I think picking out the cabinets (style, quality level, and color) will be easy. The details will take some time though (sink, drawer configuration, accessories, stuff like that). All kinds of cool options out there. Though having the appliances picked helps a lot.

My son has an undermount composite.. it’s sort of white, and goes well with his mostly white quartz countertop. A little over two years, and no issues. He picked it out.

We’ve had our new stainless steel undermount for about 3 months, and my wife is already complaining about scratches. Our last stainless (25 years) looked terrible, as any 25 yr old sink would.

Generally, stainless is substantially cheaper than composite.

we had stainless in the past and it did get scratched. And I got yelled at a lot for not being careful with it.

The one we saw was a Kohler, in black. Too dark IMO but it also came in white, gray, and Taupe at least. We would likely get gray, though I assume the kitchen place will have other options.

Wondering if I could circle back to snowblowers for a moment. With my three shovelers out of the house, I've been considering pickup up a snowblower, especially with my back and leg issues. We have an Ego mower and power tools, so I was leaning in that direction, but I'd still consider gas if it makes more sense. Anyone have/had both that would want to provide any suggestions? And any pros and /or cons to single vs two stage? I suppose if I do buy one, we won't see any more snow in Colorado?
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,565
Breld has an Ego (maybe 2) I think.

I have Ego trimmer and mower and love them. If I did not buy the Cub Cadet gasser with the house, I would have gotten one of those. Probably the 2 stage since it can handle bigger loads. I actually was looking at those at Lowe's Friday. Good specs in terms of how long they run for, and what snow they can handle. Unless you have a huge driveway, should be fine. Plus no battery issues if since you can always swap on your mower battery if needed.

I am tired of dealing with gas engine issues every season (will it start? Who knows!). Just pop the battery in, and away you go.

We have a granite single bowl (so you can wash big cooking utensils), surface mount sink with the raised drain area. (I don't like the looks of an undermount.) My wife didn't think she would like it, but I told her I would replace it with whatever she wanted if she still didn't like it after a while. It's been in for about 6 years and no complaints. I think it's Swan, but don't remember. I looked at the Swan site and they say it's quartz. :/

I believe the granite ones are a composite (80% granite, 20% acrylic or some such) to make it non porous.

Yes, it's a bit misleading that they call them granite. They are like a quartz counter, stone chips/dust and acrylic. I guess there could be some granite in the mix.
